Hori ignored everything going on. Hayato's challenge, the magistrate's orders, the peasants. He just wanted to finish what he started.
-He cuts the peasant free, and challenges the final samurai-

"Well, I'm here on family business. I'm selling some tractors to the farmers around here along with other farm equipment, though I also need to talk to the Magistrate. I've traveled a lot in my life, but I've never gotten used to trains. They just make me restless."

Order a cup of tea, the one from the mainland.

Several seconds after the bodyguard fell to the ground Ted sheathed his katana clumsily, almost dropping it beside the wounded samurai. "I am sorry that you had to lose your right arm and that your brother lies dead, however the attempted execution of that poor peasant wasn't something I could let happen." He said, motioning towards the drunk who the dead bodyguard had tried to execute. "May you redeem yourself later in your life with honorable actions, Moretsu-san."

Before he could do anything else a man rode through the crowd on a horse, shouting about how he and the ronin had struck down the two samurai. He frowned for a second and then opened his mouth, "Without honor?" Ted said, the tips of his lips turning up at how little this man had apparently witnessed. "I, a samurai of the Akahosi family have acted with honor. I had challenged a dishonorable samurai, a man who would have let an innocent peasant be executed, to a fair duel and he lost." Turning to the crowd he began to speak again. "Do you see how the Ryoshun act? They try to kill an innocent person who had made an innocent mistake and then they attempt to accuse the honorable of being dishonorable!" After taking a look at the crowd he turned back to the man on the horse as anger began to take over the amusement he had felt upon hearing the man's words. He gripped his katana and then began to speak again. "I can't speak for how the ronin feels about what you say, but you insult me."

Turning around once more he pointed to the man that was on death row seconds ago. "Tell me, citizens of Sumeru, how would you feel if this was you? How would you feel if a Magistrate had you killed all because you tripped into him? Wouldn't you want him overthrown? Seeing how corrupt our rulers are has shown me that they need to be removed of their position, but I can't do it alone my friends. Let us defeat our corrupt leaders and spread peace across Nihlon once they are defeated!"

Try to start a rebellion against the rulers of this city and the nation.

Asane gave a long, low whistle as the two Moretsu samurai were nearly instantly cut down. Brave or foolhardy as they were to challenge the magistrate's bodyguards over the fate of a single clumsy peasant, these were clearly not men to be trifled with. She had just begun to move up through the crowd, however, when a mounted samurai parted them with his own bold challenge.

"Are you sure that's wise, samurai-san?" She interjected as she passed him to help the peasant- who the ronin had just cut loose- around whom the crowd had gathered onto his feet, lowering her voice as her gaze met his.

"Your carelessness has cost more lives than your own, and yet Bishamonten has still seen fit to spare you. I would contemplate this blessing, and spend it wisely."

Her smile brightened for a brief moment as she gave him a healthy shove on the back towards the crowd, before turning to face Hori and once more raising her voice. "After all, both these men jumped at the call to fight for a single heimin, and you've seen..." This time, her smile disappeared momentarily as she noticed that the ronin had kept straight on, approaching the magistrate's norimono, and she dropped her bag and planted the butt of her naginata on the ground as she called out to him.

"Your blade has already acquitted that man, ronin-san. I will be your next oppo--"

She froze as the other samurai launched into his tirade, struck dumb for a second by his audacity, and glancing between him and the magistrate. "Oh dear."

Clearly, more foolish than brave.

Katsu entered the village at a lesuirely pace, slowly riding on his horse.
He was a well built man in his early 30's. 5'11 tall with dark, longish hair tied in a ponytail and dark eyes and a straight long scar going across his left cheek.
The village seemed unassuming, although the calm in the countryside did not mean the end to the troubles. Shogunate, whose symbols he was bearing, relied on Katsu to scout ahead and make sure that the lands under their control remained at peace. Despite the winding down of hostilities, Nihon was full of bandits and ronins who fed on the confusion and chaos of the civil war.

The rather lagre gathering in the village caught his attention. He rode on his horse in that direction, pushing through the crowd and arrivig at a scene of the duel, where he saw the results of the duel as well as the ronins and the magistrate.

Still sitting on his horse and putting on the airs of authority, Katsu called out to the fighting people.

"My name is Ryoshun Katsu, and in in the name of the Shogun I demand to know what is going on here!"

Asane & Ted & Hori & Hayato & Katsu

Hori rushes forward at the last remaining bodyguard, his blade still glistening with the blood of the last. Hayato rides forth, shouting out a challenge. Asane attempts to intercept, and just then Ted bellows out his call for a rebellion as the Bodyguard he had been fighting rises to his feet, staggering to the Magistrate's entourage and, perhaps, medical attention and a chance to survive.

(562=13) The crowd simply falls silent after Ted's pronouncement, more shocked by the audacity of it than they are willing to riot or rebel. Somewhere among that crowd, the man who was to be executed stumbles and runs from the scene.

No fool like his companions, the last remaining bodyguard levels his blade as Hori charges, calmly stating the facts whilst ignoring Asane and Ted: "You have already won, ronin-san, but if you wish to face me as well I see no reason to decline. I will not falter where my brothers have."

"Enough!" the Magistrate roars in a nasally, whiny voice, before pointing out at Ted, long sleeves billowing. He shrieks to Hayato, "You work for the Shogunate? Arrest this man for attempting to rile dissent! Or strike him down for declaring war on our clan!" He then points to Hori, "And him! They're clearly working together!"
He begins to hyperventilate, looking around to the dozen or so soldiers who form up his entourage, as well as to his bodyguard: "Well?! Go! Get them!"
The soldiers look to each other for a moment, before readying their weapons and marching out past his norimono...And just then, Katsu arrives, catching only the tail-end of the Magistrate's rant. His question is answered by the marching footmen, and the Magistrate's shrieking: "Those...that Ronin and his Akohoshi friend! They are attempting to assassinate me and start a rebellion! Get them!"
It's Katsu's choice whether or not he gets involved in the combat itself, or tries to prevent it. As it is everyone's.

((Combat will not be starting until my next post for you all. For posterity's sake, here's the initiative order and etc. Please declare your stance, and take this chance to opt out of the fight. Unless events have already made your chosen weapon clear, please state that as well.))
Initiative Order (Stance, Weapons, Armor, Wound State in italics) Rolls in Acronym
Bodyguard Full Attack Stance, Katana, Light (20), Healthy (0)
Hayato Declare Stance Please, Declare Weapon Please, Light (20), Healthy (0) - Tie Breaker: 40(16)28=28
Hori Declare Stance Please, Katana, Light (20), Healthy (0) - Tie Breaker: 90(11)9=20
Ted Declare Stance Please, Katana, Ashigaru (23), Healthy (0) - In the chaos, Ted is unable to use his training to his advantage.
Asane Declare Stance Please, Naginata, Light (25), Healthy (0)
Soldiers Attack Stance, Yari, Ashigaru (18), Numbers: 12

Kenage & Oshaberi
"No, no, Kenage-san," Ken'Ichi replies, "That is quite a story. And, ah, Oshaberi-sama, I believe you will find some...interesting work here, when you go to pick up your shipment."
The waitress takes your orders, but informs Oshaberi that they do not have any tea from the mainland. She will bring you their house blend, instead, assuring you that it's just as good, if not better, before hurrying off.
It's at about this point that you hear a LOT of shouting from outside in the marketplace and, accompanied by what looks to be two geisha, a samurai sans-katana staggers into the inn, blood spurting from his elbow, where the arm has been shorn off. Kenage immediately recognizes the symbols on his robes as those of his clan, but (73=10) not who he is. (06=16) Oshaberi does not recognize him, either.

He couldn't ignore the chaos for much longer if he wanted to survive, and Hori knew this. For the first time since entering the town, Hori speaks for himself, addressing the bodyguard: "I'd have like to continue the duel, but it seems the old man won't allow it. I concede defeat, but I look forward to a future duel with you."
-Upon saying these words, he leaves the town for the forests, still hungry-

Ted looked around and took his hand off of his katana. Turning to the soldiers he opened his mouth, "Only cowards fight one man with an ally, however you all have at least eleven. There is no point in fighting against such odds and in such a crowded area." He began to slowly step away from the twelve soldiers and toward the crowd. As he began to talk again he turned his attention to the Magistrate. "I'll be seeing you again, worm. Perhaps then you will not hide behind soldiers and you will fight for yourself." Almost near the edge of the crowd he nodded towards the soldiers. "Tell me, what honor does it bring to serve a man and protect him with your life when the man you serve is worthless? What honor does it bring when you focus your attention on a man who isn't near the one you are told to protect and when an assassin is right behind the one you guard?" And with that lie he turned around and pushed his way past the crowd, looking for an alleyway or such that he could run into and try to escape.

Tell that lie about the assassin to try to divert the attention of the soldiers and run past the crowd and into an alleyway or another place where he could escape.

"Hey, no one is making a mess and leaving on my watch! Stop and explain yourselves!".

Katsu was going to get to the bottom of this mess. Magistrate looked rather frustrated and there was one dead man here, while other appeared to be badly injured. It looked like a duel, but what was the reason behind this event?
He had no intention of spilling more blood, but if the ronin was foolish enough to run from a horseman, he would not hesitste to cut him down with his naginata.

Still on his horse, Katsu tries to cut off Ted's way out.

Oshaberi looked Ken'Ichi in the eye and nodded as he got up from the table. "Well, thank you for the conversation, but now I must retire to my quarters for the nigh- a fight?!" He moves over to the samurai while cutting a strip of fabric off his shirt to serve as a tourniquet. "Someone get a doctor!" he shouts, kneeling by the samurai. Looking him in the eye, he tries to calm him down while applying the tourniquet above the elbow to cut off the blood flow. Once that is done, he bandages the stump with another strip of fabric, and gets a bottle of Sake for the pain.

Get up, ask somebody to get a doctor, apply a tourniquet and bandage the samurai's arm, and get him alcohol for the pain. Once the samurai is being taken care of, either dead or alive, buy a room and retire for the night after securing the door, unless something else happens.

((If there are no doctors per se, I'll just change it to surgeon. And yes, he picked this bit up as a merchant and from his training. Also, his walking stick is by the table.))

Kenage looks at the man's robes and recognizes the symbols of his clan. "What happened, my brother? Who did this to you?"

Hayato turned his horse sharply, dropping the blade of his naginata in the two murderers' path. He nodded to the other mounted samurai.

'I do not think so either. You are under arrest for murder and inciting rebellion against your rightful lords and masters. Lower your weapons and submit to punishment immediately.'
