Try to get up there with the kusarigma, if failed, search the town for a shop or something to find a rope to bind it to the kusarigama. After that, try to get up there when nobody is there.

'That is troubling news, Magistrate-sama,' Hayato admitted. 'How many men do you have? How many samurai? Perhaps more importantly, how much time do we have?'

He listened to Katsu's proposal. The idea of ambushing them on the road felt wrong to him, but then, they were rebel rabble. He would leave it up to the Magistrate.

Isaac
The aging samurai remains slumped over you, still very much dead.
It's evening, outside an inn that doubles as a bar in the marketplace. There's a small crowd, and they're whispering a lot. The guards don't seem to be doing anything about the recent duel, but those few who are around are glaring at you.

Kenage
You'll need to purchase a room before the inn keeper cares about your request. So you do so, paying 1 bu. Your purse now contains 14 Koku and 3 Bu.

You head off to the hot springs, passing by one of the Ryoshun Samurai from earlier on your way up the hill. The baths are just outside the temple, split into a men and women's bath house. As you approach, you hear a loud crack followed by a splash, coming from the women's bath. You also notice two young men, drunks probably but samurai all the same, loitering around outside the women's bath with a look of uncertainty on their faces.

Asane

Initiative Order (Stance, Weapons, Armor, Wound State in italics)
Asane Attack Stance, Naginata, Nude (20), Nicked (13)
Akio Attack Stance, Katana, Nude (20+1), (0)

Ignoring the pain of your injury, you shift to a full attack stance, whirling the naginata around overhead in an attempt to catch Akio's head with the flat of its blade. (81641681=22|750(11)4226=24) And Akio is powerless to stop it as it forces through his defenses, catching him upside the head with a loud crack!

He stumbles, lashing out at you one last time (4121720(15)=26-5=21) as he reels from the attack, his katana wildly slashing the air before you as he falls into the bath with a splash!

Initiative Order (Stance, Weapons, Armor, Wound State in italics)
Asane Full Attack Stance, Naginata, Nude (20-10), Nicked (13)
Akio Attack Stance, Katana, Nude (20+1), (24)

Yoru
Your kusarigama is a chain with a knife on one end and a weight on the other. You realize that even if it could reach the rooftops, it would never be able to latch on to anything. You need a grappeling hook for that. Luckily, the nebulous void that is your travel pack contains just that, along with 50' of rope! (8 items left undefined)

You attach the hook to the rope and wait till nobody is looking...
(22533=11) You whirl the rope around overhead and throw it up multiple times, but try as you might you just can't get it to latch on to anything on the roof in the short time you have.

Hayato & Katsu
"Nobunaga-kun?" The Magistrate asks.
The Moretsu Samurai standing to the Magistrate's right stirs, answering Hayato's question first. "We have the village guard. Altogether this makes for about fifty Ashigaru, lightly trained. All available Samurai that we are aware of have been gathered in this room. I must say that I agree with Ryoshun-san's strategy. It would be better to never give them a chance to reach Sumeru, and to meet them on the road."

Ken'Ichi nods, shuffling through his paperwork before replying, "According to my scouts, they will be within less than a day's march in two days time. I personally believe that we should shore up our defenses, and allow them to whether themselves on our walls."

Magistrate Hajime grumbles and coughs, before stating, "I make no claim to being a military strategist, Ken'Ichi-dono. Let us hear what our visitors have to say. Do we have enough soldiers for an ambush, Katsu-kun? Do you have any ideas, Hayato-kun?"
The One-Armed samurai remains silent throughout all of this.

Hori
"If you insist, Budoka-san," Yoshimori easily answers, refilling one of the bandit's cup before the other man does the same for him. Oddly civil, these bandits. "Like many Ronin, Budoka-san, I was born to a peasant woman who was foolish enough to lay with a Samurai. I was loosely trained, but no clan would have me. I imagine I was much as I am now. Haven't I always been a bandit of my father's blood?"
He laughs, and one of the bandits laughs uneasily along with him.

Isaac caught the man, clutching him as his blade sunk deeper through him, he had never take a life, and had never planned on it.  He dropped to one of his knees sliding his blade from the samurai as he rested his body to the ground.  Grabbing the man's blades and resting them on his chest. "Well at least you died with honour... somewhat." he spoke as he crossed the man's arms over his chest.  Isaac stood and sheathed his own blade, turning to one of the guards. "Do you know who this man was?" he asked stepping towards him.

"Fifty men could work, provided I have few brave samurai to stiffen them up, Magistrate-sama." Katsu smiled mischevously.
"These Genki will expect to encounter a defended position, but instead they shall be ambushed as they march in disorganised formation. A sudden strike from rear will catch the column off-guard and we will face only few Gengi troopers with their backs turned to us. Before the front of the column realises whats happening, their rear-guard will cease to exist. Its then a question of surrounding a disorganised band of scared men."

Oshaberi

Oshaberi waited for nightfall (let's go ahead and say about 9/10 PM) before going for a stroll through town, his walking stick by his side. He wandered through the place where executions are held on his way to the shady apothecary, also wandering by the Magistrate's compound, observing the guard's patterns surreptitiously.

Take a stroll, and surreptitiously observe the guards.

"Mm... that's enough, I think." Asane chuckled, shaking her head as she moved to help her opponent up and out of the water. "Are you alright, Akio-kun? ...Perhaps I overestimated you, ne?"

Defensive stance, just in case he retaliates.

Hori ran a hand through his developing beard thoughtfully at the bandit's words. He began thinking about a need to shave with no interval between the previous thought and this one. And then Hori started thinking about what he wanted to hunt for, before reminding himself of the hostage. Hori's face often reflected his thoughts, but he did not know this.
-He responds, "A simple birth, a simple life, complex goals. Life is harsh." He paused a moment to adjust himself before speaking again, "As long as you don't kill Noboru, I see no reason to tell anyone of your camp. Is there really no way for me to leave and continue my pilgrimage to the capital?"-

Asane
Akio splutters and coughs, blood streaming from a gash on his head as he tries to pull himself out of the water. Finally doing so, he lays flat, coughing. "Do it, then!" he cries, melodramatically, apparently awaiting some finishing blow.

Kenage
The men look up before looking to each other. One stammers out, rather bluntly, "Morikano Akio is trying to fuck a Ronin, but we're pretty sure she just attacked him."

Isaac
The crowd continues to whisper, apparently shocked by whatever it is you've done. An elderly man responds, not the guard: "Gaijen, you just slew Hibiki-sama, one of the greatest duelists in all of Yezo!"

Someone shouts out, then, "And with a dishonorable weapon as well! Coward!"

Isaac gains 1 Infamy. The crowd does not look too pleased.

Oshaberi
(41275=16) You get a pretty good idea of the guard shifts from your patrol. At least, you think. They seem to change once at every meal, and then once at a random interval between meals.

Hori
(11=2)
The ronin spreads his hands wide, smiling. "I really must apologize. But rescuing such a man would bring with it great reward, no doubt, and I simply cannot let you leave with such valuable information."

Yoru
(356197=22|37867=22) You manage to find a spot where you aren't seen, once more, and throw up the hook. It latches on to something, and you quickly and surreptitiously climb. It isn't long till you're on the roof.

Katsu & Hayato
(3955=19)
The Magistrate, Ken'Ichi, and Nobunaga seem to consider this. "It is a solid plan," Nobunaga concedes, after a moment.
Magistrate Hajime nods, smiling, "Then it is settled! You two will serve as nikutai beneath Nobunaga-kun in this battle. Unless there are any objections?"

Isaac turned to the old man, "You have my condolences, but perhaps next time you should spend your praise on someone worthy of it next time, and not a drunk and a bully." he paused, a light drizzle began beating drops on to his hat, "Can I trust you to make arrangements for his..?"  Isaac was cut short, without turning with a simple upward nod of his head,"So yells the man hidden in the crowd, my weapon dishonorable you say?  Is it dishonorable to not wish to draw attention to yourself?  I keep my blade hidden because I do not wish to wet cocksure fools with their own blood." Isaac flipped the umbrella over his shoulder while releasing the lock and letting it expand covering him, and the old man, "I'd much rather keep everyone dry."

With that the light drizzle became a heavy rain.

Speak with the old man about making arrangements for the fallen duelist. Invite him to have dinner with me, since it's raining and it would be rude to eat alone while we spoke.

Hori scratched at his chin. The only reason he had even considered rescuing the man before was because he had assumed barbarians or worse had captured him. The man he was talking to didn't seem like the sort to kill without other options, and this business involving the hostage seemed more and more like something he didn't want to be a part of. He wasn't used to talking as much as he was about to, but there weren't many options for a peaceful resolution here. Talking, no matter how little of it he cared to understand, would be his salvation.
-He responds, "I'm not exactly a friend of the government. I saved a drunk peasant from immediate execution, and cut down a samurai in a duel by some old, important-looking man. Some random lunatic tried to interfere and started talking about rebellion, so who knows how the people see me there after that. Though if /that/ story doesn't convince you to let me leave, you could always join me on my pilgrimage. Not much chance of me doing anything that could harm you while you have your watchful eyes on me."-

Kenage rushes into the women's bath. "Ronin-san, is that you? Are you alright!?"
