"There is no point arguing with you. I am not a bandit or a brigand, I let the samurai live when I could have easily killed him when he was unarmed. I am not a rebel either, for I do not wish for all Ryoshun officials to be removed from power. Perhaps one day you will think for yourself when you realize that people such as the magistrate can be wrong, and perhaps then you will understand why I did what I did."

Watching the ronin be escorted away, Oshaberi turned back towards the inn. He had one more thing to take care of, but first he had better find a room.

Return to the inn and buy a room for the night, and move my luggage there.. Place a piece of hair between the door and the frame as I leave to be able to see if anybody enters my room.

"I don't care why you did it. certainly, if you had more sense you would have tried to appeal to the Magistrate before turning my kinsman into a cripple and trying to incite a riot in another clan's prov-- Excuse, me, that was rude. What I meant to say is, what's done is done. What I need from you now is for you to tell me what happened to your accomplice, the samurai who slew one of my kinsmen."

Ted looked over the man requesting what he knew and then began speaking. "I'll tell you what, you get the magistrate to let me walk free or at least get the man to spare my life and I'll tell you everything I know about where the ronin went. I have no respect for people who just attack at a samurai like he did. There should always be an honorable duel."

Asane raised an eyebrow as she shot a glance at Ted and the... larger man. "The ronin escaped into the crowd. I'm pretty sure he left town that way," she said, pointing off in the direction she'd been chasing him, "but he could be anywhere now.

...Ah, no offense, Moretsu-san, but you do you intend to persue him yourself? You don't strike me as a very formidable warrior..."

"The bastard left me to die after I helped him save the peasant. As I said, I'll tell you where he is after you help me out." Ted said, shooting a scowl at the ronin.

Kenage turns to Asune. "Then I ask you to take no offense, er, ronin-san, when I tell say that you obviously don't quite understand the Moretsu family. When we greet each other, we call each other brother or sister, even if we've never met before, because we consider each other close family. I am bound not only by honor, but by duty to my slain brother to bring his killer to justice. Although it is true that any other Moretsu than myself would be more fit for the task, and taking time for the pursuit will put my career in jeopardy, it seems fate has laid responsibility for completing this task to me."

Kenage turns back to Ted. "That is why it is very important, by the last of your honor, that you answer truthfully, can you and will you help me bring my kinsman's killer to justice?"

The injured and dishonored samurai took a long look at the man in front of him."I will no longer hide from the fact that what I have done today was dishonorable and that I have brought shame, and possibly war, to my family. I will also tell you that I planned to simply lie to you after you helped me, however your sense of honor has given me a sense of purpose I suppose. Moretsu-san, let me hunt down this ronin for you so that I may restore my honor. If you were to do it alone then you would perish. His skill is not to be ignored, as you heard he struck down one of your brothers." Ted smiled at the courtier and then kneeled before him. He stood up after several seconds and asked the man in front of him a question, "What do you say Moretsu-san? Will you allow me to restore my honor by hunting down this dishonorable ronin for you? All I need is for you to speak to the magistrate. Even after I finish helping you I will return here to face my punishment."

Kenage & Asane & Hayato & Katsu & Ted & now Isaac, too!
"That will be quite enough, onii-san," the Magistrate's last remaining bodyguard states, mere feet from the group of bushi, courtier, and ronin, as the magistrate's twelve ashigaru spread out to encircle Ted and any who would stand too close to him. The norimono is set down with a thud, kicking up dust.
"Quiet, Moretsu-kun," the Magistrate whines to the bodyguard, before pointing a quivering finger at Ted. "He is to be arrested as an enemy of the Shogunate! This instant! We will discuss proper retribution once information has been extracted," he sniffs.

The natives of Nihon easily pick out what would appear to be a foreigner at the back of his entourage. You don't recall seeing him there before...

Oshaberi
The room is 1 bu, leaving you with 8 Koku and 3 Bu. You do all of those other things without incident, and then get a good night's rest. In the morning, you find that the hair has not been disturbed. The Sun Blossom presents a complimentary breakfast, so you don't need to worry about that. What will you do after you eat?

Hori
You continue to make your way through the train, until you stumble into the engine room and the front of the car. A man wearing the driver's uniform lays on the ground, an arrow through one of his eyes- Presumably it was shot through the shattered window. You can see that the tracks have been twisted and bent out of shape, and a large wooden barricade erected along them. Someone was trying to stop the train.

Hori had no experience with trains, and thus no experience with why someone would want it stopped. Cargo? A passenger?
-He checks the arrow for any markings he knows-

"I will not stand in the way of the law, but I feel it is pertinent to inform you that this man has pledged to help me hunt down his former accomplice, who is still at large, as an act of atonement. So, if it pleases your grace, I ask that you do not have him executed until the matter between us is settled."

Katsu listened to the exchange and watched as the magistrate decided to surround the rebel.
Apparently he knew where the other escaped man was. Were they accomplices? Or was this a bluff?
Katsu knew that this brigand will lie his way out if he can. He already showed his hand when he decided to run.

"I am afraid that this man must face his punishment. Magistrate here is only doing his job in the name of the Shogunate, and its up to me to enforce the rules as they are. The other man is gone, and I doubt that he may know where to. But if he speaks truth, he shall be given the "honour" of quick death."

Isaac leaned against his umbrella, his face emotionless as his eyes darted between the speaking parties.

Continue to watch from a distance.

Yoru slowly walked next to the road, at the edge of the forest, safe for unfriendly eyes.
How further he came, the more signs of civilization he saw.
Smoke in the air, tree stumps, ...
After he walked the remaining distince, he arrived at Sumeru.
But his eyes saw something strange: Some peasants are cleaning the square of blood!
Some kind of battle has taken place here!
Let's ask what happend here in that way to colorful inn, named The Sun Blussom.

Kenage & Asane & Hayato & Katsu & Ted & Isaac
(9952641=24/6435=11 vs 3856442=19) "If you truly wish to 'enforce the rules as they are', Ryoshun-kun, then you will quiet yourself. This man will be taken into custody." The magistrate whines in response, motioning for his bodyguard to act.
The Moretsu Bodyguard lunges out with the sodegarami, catching the clothes of a Ted-who-has-stopped-fighting-back and slamming him to the ground with a twist of the weapon. Two of the Ashigaru approach and, if unimpeded, bind Ted's hands and feet.

"As for you, Moretsu-kun," the Magistrate sniffs, speaking to Kenage now, "Letting an enemy roam free would be quite a favor, don't you think? See me after this fool has been brought in, we will discuss what can be done."

Hori
(503=15) You examine the arrow. There are no special markings: It's just a regular old Willow Leaf Arrow. But it couldn't have shattered the window on its own...

Yoru
You ask around while making your way to The Sun Blossom Inn. It would appear that there was to be an impromptu execution of a peasant the other day, but two wandering samurai decided to involve themselves in order to start a rebellion. One was arrested, when that plan failed, but the other got away.
