hmm. Yeah, I guess they should be larger. Five miles across sounds better.

So our base will be a single hex. And we don't want to have our fields 5 miles away. Won't be practical. So I say we stay here. It saves us around 2 hours of time, which can be used to set up a watchtower and clear the land. It'll give us a better LoS than a hill (because beast cannot hide behind the next hill).

I vote we head to the southeast hills. It has good defensive postions, fertile ground and the ability to retreat to the montians if we are attacked by a force much larger than us. In the future it may be prudent to build a farming town in the plains but for right now our most pressing concern is not defense.

I agree with mcclay. Yes, you can build watch towers on plains, but hilltops are much easier to defend.

Well, against human enemies maybe, not against beasts. But he, I'm outvoted. I'll go with ye then.

Here's a brief description of the areas and what's in them.

Grasslands
These areas are dominated by tall grasses. This grass stands 7 to 10 feet tall.

Forests
The outer edges are dominated by trees that are tall and grey, with hard, solid bark bearing strange abstract patterns. Their leaves are a deep blue green, and spring from forking, gently curved limbs. In the denser areas, there is a much greater variety.

Sandy Hill
This hill has some sparse grasses growing on it, never more than three feet tall. Most of it's soil is composed of many colored sand.

Mountains
These areas are rocky and steep.

Burnt Forest
This is a forest that was burned down sometime in the last year. It seems to be growing back.

Mossy Plain
This plain is entirely covered in moss. In some places, this moss forms growths as tall as trees.

by southeast hills, do you mean the ones way to the southeast? Past the heavy forest, on the edge of the territory you've explored?
