Excellent, Excellent! I'm writing up a post right now. Kingfisher1112 hasn't posted yet, but I'll allow him to come to the party late.

Edit - Although adwarf, you should probably update the descriptions of your workers.

When the mist clears, you find yourselves in a deep valley. It appears to be about early afternoon, but the strange slant of the sky leaves you uncertain. As you survey your surroundings, you find that the journey has left you scattered. Comrades that were at your side before can now be found halfway across the valley, or farther. Some seem not to have made it at all. Of those who did make it, many seem sickened. They complain of nausea, disorientation, and weakness. Never the less, by night fall, you have gathered most of your people and supplies, and some that did not embark with you, and made camp in the valley. The sky is a fainter shade of blue than you are used to, and the clouds are tainted orange. This is lost upon you at first, however, as you are staring at the three full moons in the sky. The valley beneath is flanked by hills, and is largely forested. The trees are tall and grey, with hard, solid bark bearing strange abstract patterns. Their leaves are a deep blue green, and spring from forking, gently curved limbs. You see a great many strange plants beneath, all in hues just slightly off. there is a stretch of grassland, where the foliage stands as much as ten feet tall when bowed over. It is a strange rusty orange color, except for light blue flowers.

The passage has left twenty six members of your party unaccounted for, and another thirty one sickened. You are missing 28 tents, 1 oxen, 2 Marble Statues, 9 axes, 1 shovel, 2 Bags of Seeds, 3 Barrels of preserved food, 1 large idol of Odocast, 1 greataxe, 2 woodcutting axes, 1 mining pick, 3 tents(housing 2 each), 13 rations, 4 bows, 8 swords, 2 hand-axes, 23 food, 1 hoe, 2 fishing rods, and 3 pickaxes.

You find a wagon with a libraries worth of books and 5 scholars inside. Another wagon further down the valley is filled with gold ingots. Scattered along the valley are a barrel of fresh apples, a large cheese wrapped in cloth, three suits of chain mail, a poleaxe, and a crate containing the parts for a lathe.

Night is falling, and in the distance, you hear a deep and resonant howling.

"Okay people, now is the time to move. I don't know what made this growling, but I surely don't want to have it snack on me tonight! Let's put all the wagons in a circle, and plug the gap with barrel barricade. We'll have time tomorrow to survey the land and build shelters."

To his healthy manservant "Julius, take five men with you and collect as much dead wood as you can. Take the axes as well. I see over there the banner of Varkhat Nizarn, who served with my son. Offer him this amphore of wine and ask him for an escort. Odocast knows what's lurking in those forest.

To his other servant "Octavius, I know you're not feeling well, but I still have a mission for you. Will you please take those two amphore and offer them to the leaders of the two other groups, and ask them if they would join our stockade for tonight. We have no weapons, and we could use their soldiers and warts. Use some slaves to carry the amphore, no need to hurt yourself in your condition."

"Now, everyone knows what to do, and I want you to do it fast! If you'll excuse me, I'll got and try to see who those scholars are. Men of sciences are to be respected, and I'd like them to share my fire tonight."

Order my men to make a stockade using the wagons and barrels, while Julius and 5 slaves go to collect wood. Try to get an escort for the wood collector, and to get everybody to join the stockade for tonight. Then, go to the scholars, introduce myself and inquire what their story is.

"You heard the man, add our wagon tho his circle and let's get those tents set up. We'll need 1 of the guards and 5 of the others to keep watch, switch at midnight, and leave the sick ones and the skilled workers sleeping. I want all the tents set up by nightfall. After that, we'll hold our vespers and get to sleep. You can keep your wine, I wouldn't want it to cloud my judgement."
While his people are working, Eoghan introduces himself to the others.
"My name is Eoghan, Voice of Odocast. Clearly, he has sent us all here to work together. My order's main part in this will be to keep you on the right path, although we will work hard to provide food and resources as well. Know, however, that anyone who endangers or assaults another shall feel His Wrath. Let's set up camp, and discuss tasks in the morning. Blessings upon all of you."

"This is a time to gather together my brothers, and sisters, those soldiers among you that are not sick take up the axes, and prepare to stand guard through the night. Builders move the wagon into place, farmers help them set up the wagons, and barrels to form a defensive position. Finally the rest of you spread out, and gather any dead wood, or items of value, but do not stray farther then the soldiers can see, and stay close to base." Romulus said as he took the proffered gift, and stored it away for his use later.

I was going to do an update tonight, but then I got distracted playing Magic: the Gathering and now it's late. I'll update in the morning. In the meantime, this is your last chance to post, so if you haven't, you probably should.

The scholars say that they belonged to the Great Library of Alexandria. When the invaders came, they knew that they had to save the knowledge contained within, so they grabbed whatever books they could and set out. They had attached themselves to a nobles expedition, but the pass had other ideas. They have been here for three days, and are very grateful for your appearance.

You draw the wagons together into a circle, and plug the gaps with barrels. Lookouts are posted, and an expedition to collect wood is sent out. It returns with three hollow logs, large enough for a person to crawl in with room to spare, and twenty to thirty feet long each. The outsides are in good condition, and the insides are smooth, showing no signs of rot at all. They look like they belong to the trees growing nearby.

The night begins peacefully enough. The expedition returns safely, and everyone is safe inside by nightfall. The guards are vigilant, but when the danger comes, it is through the tall grass, where your soldiers cannot see. Several large creatures leap out of the grass, toppling a wagon and biting the sentry atop it in half. They're in poor light, so you cannot get a good view, but from what you can see they seem to be quadrupedal and very large. The alarm is raised, but the perimeter is already breached. What do you do?

Romulus was on his feet, and with a pickaxe in hand moments after the alarm was raised, and within moments he was shouting, "My able bodied people take up arms, and gather! Strike back, show no fear, and stand this day in honor, and guard of our people!" Taking just a second to see four of his people take up the few tools of theirs that remain Romulus turns, and charges at the beasts his pickaxe held high and a ferocious battle cry, "For Honor, For Glory, For Freedom!"

Lead seven of my people (3 Soldiers, 4 farmers armed with the tools) into battle against the beasts

Eoghast was close behind - no hellspawn would live if he and his axe had anything to say about it. Together with the one awakened guard, and the five monks - who had divided the pickaxes, woodcutting axe, and the two unused greataxes among them, they charged the monsters. "For Odocast!"

Gaius woke up from the din, and quickly assessed the situation. It was a dark, confused fight. He himself was to old to fight, and his men were no warrior. But he could make up his lack of brawn with some brain. Quickly grabbing a few sticks, he ripped his cape in bits and fashioned a few torches. His slaves, quick to understand their master, rapidly came and made more.

Quick, quick! Those beast will fear fire! Half of you bring the torches to the frontlight, to give light to our warriors and fear to our ennemy's heart! The other half watch the rest of the perimeter!

The next update may be delayed a few days, because I'm in my last week of school and need to get some stuff finished and turned in. But after that I'll update, I promise!

All right, here we go.

You rush into battle with the beasts!

Battle

7 beasts (element of surprise)
vs
3 soldiers (armed with hand-axes)
4 civilians (armed with hoes and pickaxes)
8 slaves (armed with torches)
1 monastery guard (Greataxe)
5 monks (armed with Greataxes, pickaxes, wood axe)
5 fighting men (wielding swords)

The beasts are strong and vicious, but they have no experience with the likes of humanity, nor it's weapons. They know not of the dangers of edged steel, and learn painfully! The most aggressive beast goes down the quickest, surrounded and cut down. The rest take a few wounds, and flee before the light of the torches. You do take some wounds in the process, though. One fighting man gets his arm cut open, and a monk gets his leg broken. The rest of the night passes uneventfully. It is now morning. Many of those sickened by the journey are feeling better, but in others, the feeling persists. The camp has begun to stir, and the beginnings of a chaotic breakfast are underway. What do you do?

"One of you, check with the scholars, ask if they have a book about medicine. Read how to spalk a broken leg and do it. We'll leave the carts here for the moment, if you're done, put the wounded one on a cart, and let the donkeys drag the carts up the hills. General Nizarn is right, we'll need a more defendable position. The sick ones will stay with you as well. If you have some time left, see what you can do to alleviate their pain."
"In the meantime, the rest of us will scout the surroundings. There are 18 of us left, I want 6 groups of three. One group is to scout north, one south, one northwest, one northeast, one southwest, one southeast. Leave marks so you find your way back. At noon, or if you find something, return to that hill."
