You were planning to have a 15 year old magical girl kill Witches by drinking them under the table!? It's original, at least.

Well it looks as though it went on holiday. I am more curious as to why the out-skirts didn't go with it...

Actually, I'm guessing the middle of the town got kaboomed.

Oh, and..."Surprise hug attack"? Did I miss something there?

Well, yes, but, the destruction seems to have pretty concise borders. If that was all one big kaboom you would expect debris and a few collapsed buildings outside of the worst of it. At least lets tell the children that to give them false-hope that the city was just teleported and they can still save everyone...

Also, this is good, scanners should be punished for undermining things like this...

There's a trope for that.
Anyways, there seems to be a bit of devastation outside the circle...but still suspicious.

You stare out into the distance, not believing what's in front of you.

You run down to get a closer look. It's worse up close, hardly anything has been left standing, and the ground has been scorched clean.

In despair, you collapse to the ground, not even bothering to listen to what the others are saying anymore. As you do-

...er what?

Sarah kneels down next to you and quietly gestures for the device her grandfather gave you.

You pull it out and hand it to her, and she starts fiddling with the dials. Eventually, light shines out of the the end and into the air, with a menu screen floating there. Sarah touches it a few times and brings up the message.

Joseph,
If you're reading this, then you must have left the tunnels by now. I'm okay, but they have the professor. I'm on the run, so there's not much time for me to explain. As of the last few hours the XDRA have usurped the world government and have declared martial law. They've been planning this for a long time coming, and taking control is only a single step towards their goal.
What you kids need to do is head Northward to a friend of mine in Eastwood. Her name is Dr. Samantha Tain, she lives on 543 Martha Lane. She'll be able to bring you somewhere safe.
I love you son, take care of yourself and stay out of trouble.

Get some food and supplies from the wreckage of the town and find a working vehicle to drive to Eastwood.

And have Steve, John, Teresa, Gil, and (if she doesn't just live with her grandpa) Sarah look for they're parents. I mean if your dad survived then maybe theirs did too. Although your dad is a badass apparently.

Maybe better not. The XDRA has total control of the governement now. If they want us for some reason, which is apparently the case, they'll be sure to track our communications. Better shut down the comm thingy. As in removing the batteries, not just turning it off.

Sarah shows you how to deactivate the device. You turn the 4 dials, a red one, a green one, a blue one, and a yellow one, on the upper portion until you feel a click in order to input a four part code. To deactivate and reactivate it's internet connection you use the code Red Red Green Blue. She also shows you how to turn the entire device off, Green, Blue, Yellow, Red, access the internet browser, Blue, Blue, Red, Yellow, wirelessly connect to a nearby computer, Blue, Red, Yellow, Yellow, and use the GPS, Green, Red, Green, Green.
