After several attempts.. it seems like that thing just does not want to leave the gatehouse..

I built a staircast system right in the gatehouse, But it chooses to always run back to the corner of the traps.

It just means we have a guard dog.  :P

Also maby you  should make a copy of the game and just open the front door and see what happens.

I did that twice now,

Once he got killed with only 5 losses..
But I had about half the population running back and forth shitting there pants watching there
friends get slaughtered. And the tantrum spiral is still running..

And the second time I did not do anything, And I watched it run around and show no mercy.

Ill try and set him up to be a better guard, and add a floodgate thing to turn him off so we could clear the traps.

Hmm... Well, there is now two titans outside, one caged. And the Mountain Titan is still camping.. Several attempts later.
I still can't get him locked in a good position.. without having to sacrifice a few dozen people..

After the second titan showed up, A siege came.. So it looks like we have a something to defend us..


Edit..

After a bit of trial and error.. I flying proofed the fortress,(Due to a flying titan that showed up on several of the attempts)But instead another land one came in. Thankfully.

And the siege never came on this retry,.

I did it!!..

We now have a necromancer/corpse/training farm.. A flying proof fortress, And a web spitting door guard..

I think we will be loosing this fortress..
The autosave kicked in, And there was a forgotten beast who managed to make it from the underground some how..

No one has died yet.. But we have alot of unhappy, hungry, tired.. and thirsty dwarfs.. And a Fb who does not seem to want to die.

Did you open the first cavern? I know theres at least one in there - if it had deadly dust then it was the one I found.

I did not open that one, There was a staircase going over a open area.. And the thing flew in..

Well, The year is done.. And I have some terrible news..

We lost about.. 50-75 dwarfs over the year.

Another dozen or so wounded..Another dozen going mad...A few fighting each other..

But there is still plenty of food and booze, And enough stable dwarfs to last till migrants come.

We have also slain about.. three beasts, 1 Hill, One mountain Titan. and a FB, And I was trying to hunt down there corpses to collect them.. but I have not found any :/..

Where the web farm was, That's now a Necromancer spawning field.   I noted on the levers to show what they do, If there is a question just ask.. but I think it should make sense to everyone. but the goal is to fill that room with corpses(De-arm them first) Then let the necro spawn, while archers kill them.. I was thinking of adding a channel or system type thing that would keep the bolts that missed, But I never got to it.When your done with the necro, pull the lever, drop him down. cage him up..ect Kill the rest of the zombies with the archers or a
bunch of militia.. And repeat.

And that one fight with the mega beast down in the stockrooms was intense.. It took about a month or so.. One hundred dwars vs GiantBird with a hard knoby shell that shoots web(Or something like that).. It was a pile of dwarfs and war dogs getting webbed down and slowly moving forwards till about half of them made it beside it.. And it was slow progression till the end.. As seen in that one picture.
