Dorian grins, seeing the possibilities. "Now THERE'S an idea! I may not be the strongest Dragonoid in the grocery store, but I am a mechanic- I can always build a better arm." Dorian expands his search on the map to include sheltered/hidden areas within trebuchet-range of the lab. Considering Jade's problem, he offers "Maybe we can dress Cecil up to look like a piece of lab equipment- we can give you some other junk to haul, too, so he doesn't stick out too much."

Dorian then turns to address the entire group embarking on mission 121. "So! Pending the answers to those last querys, our plan is for Ruark and Jade to infiltrate the lab and secure the Breakthrough, Sevten and Narte to ensure the destruction of the building by blowing the basement, and I'll hang back to coordinate extraction and provide reinforcement when things go belly up. Sound good to everyone? Any concerns?"

((incidentally, what long-range communication (if any) is available? walkie-talkie equivalents?))

> query [armament of to-be-raided lab]
Standard armaments: most have no special training and merely fire semi-automatics. Some of the guards have M-137 gatling guns. The Imperial Thorn 'Rolling Thunder' is a skilled mechanic, while the Imperial Flower Lillian is a novice and specialized in heavy weapons. Probable equipment list of Flower:
Quote from: Lillian's probable equipment list
M-137 gatling gun
M-3 flamethrower
Steyr AMR
Cannonball tech
As an aside, the Steyr AMR is very detrimental to individual heath.

> query [Ruark]
1. The building has a flat roof. It has a stairwell leading under; the only trouble is getting onto the roof in the first place.
2. The report is supposed to be secret. A visiting scientist with no credentials who asks to see the report will probably be executed on sight by Rolling Thunder, or be detained for questioning.

> query [Worth of Flower & Thorn]
The Flower is pretty much useless in terms of intel. However, if the mission is pulled off quick enough, the psychologists and mindra- breakers of the Cartel might be able to brainwash her for our own ends.

Rolling Thunder is extremely dangerous and should be killed as soon as possible. Even when tied up, bound and immersed upside-down in water, he has the ability to call mechs.

[/font]

Dorian checks the map. The lab is situated in a barren badland. The desert is about a kilometer off, and sparse shrubs are all that make up 'trees'. There probably won't be any place to quickly assemble a trebucket . . .

((Long-range communications ... you could opt for a set of mirrors and a laser, a very expensive set of magic crystal spheres you will have to sell half of your soul and sign a contract to borrow, or maybe pigeons. The new-fangled technology called 'radio' is even more expensive than your budget, and anyways it isn't reliable, yet.))

A 'x' means they have departed for the mission.

Taskforce B82
(Shade, Syra, Serat, Carl, James)

[7 + 4] = 11
The taskforce treks across the savanna. There are precious few landmarks, but the compass and the map together are invaluable in pathfinding. After two days and a certain incident with a wayward white crescent bear cub, the four people arrive at the exit of a narrow canyon. It is a path the caravan convoy must enter to reach the isolated fortress. You have made reasonable time, and the caravan should come in a day or less.

The area is flat and grassy, with tall, rugged trees dotting the plain.

Sevten turns towards the group. "That seems satisfactory, although I question the usage of the phrase "when things go belly up. I myself am ready to depart."

Narte stood up properly and looked around. He was...
"Ready..."
He already had serious doubts if it was really useful to take the Flower alive only for her to be mindraped. That sounded disgusting.

Narte is ready and follows the rest of the team.

Begin making some basic barrels outfitted with shooting mechanisms able to hold some form of ammo from rocks to a bullet.

Spoiler: Syra Liene (click to show/hide)

Syra stepped on an inclined stone on the ground, surveying the canyon. It was full of rocks and dust, and even more colorful rocks.

She got off and turned to the rest. "So, does anyone have more brilliant plans to make? Like what to do when the convoy approaches?" Her thoughts returned to the bear cub, making her shudder involuntarily at the consequence. "This place is narrow, easy to take everyone on." She brushed away a stray hair. "Or we could just rig the whole place with C4 and bombs...If anyone wants my opinion, I'd like to see the supplies in one piece - in our hands."

"Well, we may have to improvise a little when we see the situation, but I'm confident my disguises can get at least two of us onto the third floor. From there we don't need to blow the roof if Jade can get us up the stairwell. We should be able to use retrieval rockets to escape once we have the documents, and we always have the parachutes if something goes wrong." Ruark frowned in thought. If Dorian didn't have to worry about extracting them, then he could help the blue haired boy plant the charges in the basement. "Jade and I can grab, then Dorian and Narte can smash. Or Dorian and I can grab and Jade and Narte can smash, it really doesn't matter."

Narte heard the man's plan and decided to voice his opinion for the first time, a stronger voice coming to him.
"Maybe we should split the mechanics. In case of danger, the mechs are reasonable shields...Metal is easier to restore than flesh."

Dorian nods. "That seems sensible enough. I'll join Ruark in the snatching, and Jade can help you with the smashing. Everyone agreed?"

Carl looked at the barren place. A nice small gap for them to attack, but some rocks could provide the defenders with cover.
"I'd also like the supplies intact, but if it all goes wrong we'll have little choice but to destroy it all. About how we're going to do this; how about C4 for the escorts and these balloon bombs for the actual trucks?"

Sevten spoke up. "This leaves me unoccupied. Perhaps I could function as anti-personnel, Enter the area first and remove several guards from the facility before you four enter?"

"If we want the supplies, then all we need to do is make the convoy stop." While Serat had not taken part in any raids, he had heard some about how to accomplish one. "If we give the appearance of a mined area, they will have no choice but to stop. I suggest we choose an area where we will box them in with explosives. If anything, even a supply truck, runs out of this area, then we blow it up. The fear of further explosives should keep them from running away and complicating matters." The question was if they had enough C4 for this to happen. "Escorts should be a priority though. If we are lucky, they will be leading the convoy, and should be easily taken out with the initial C4, also creating the scare effect without damaging the supplies." There was a concern though: "But if even a single vehicle makes it through the explosives, and not be blown up by us, the entire plan falls apart."
