Arrrrrr, me hearties! Welcome to A Pirate ARRRRRRRTD! Shiver me timbers and batton down the hatches! ...You want me to stop with the Pirate accent? Fiiiiiiine. In this game you play as a bunch of pirates. Your goal is to plunder the high seas and maybe get some sweet loot as well. You must work together to keep your ship afloat, taking quests and making profits along the way. Oh, and there may be explosions.

...You want backstory? Fine.

It's the 1700s in the fantasy universe and all of the races have decided to work reasonably well together to make massive cities across several continents. While most races are present in any city, the population tends to be skewered towards one race-the leader of the city tends to be of said race. Most of the cities rely heavily on naval trade to keep their supplies up, but where there's trade, there's piracy.

Well, not yet. There are a few odd pirates, but only one or two are known, and they tend to be the nes in the week's newspaper. Although you don't know it yet, it's your turn to take to the oceanic stage...

Everything in this game is resolved by the standard d6±modifier. However, to reduce GM strain, you need to look after your own stats. and such. I'll give you all the info you need, but make sure to post it with your actions please.

Bio: Navarre was a good kid from a good family which owned a small, well-kempt (really?) 2-floor inn. He spent a good part of his childhood helping their parents with all the work needed to keep the family business running, but he was happy. That is, until the local noble decided he wanted Navarre's mother and the family's property for him to keep.

The boy was sleeping when his world started to crumble apart, and woke up with the noise coming from dowstairs. When he got to the bottom floor, his parents, their friends and the few and loyal servants of the small establishment were in a savage fight for their lives with all manner of available weaponry. His mother was able to see him, give him a backpack and send him away with a few recommendations, accompanied by one of their acquantainces, which was killed as soon as they set foot out of the building by one of the men outside. The boy was able to escape and the last memory he has of his home is of a buildings slowly being destroyed by flames.

That was then, but now he is a young man with moods and manners difficult to understand due to the conflict between the kind education of his parents and the honorless life of fending for himself on the streets. He does not look like your average pirate due the fact he is not dirty nor smelly. The reason is that after discovering the aforementioned nobleman had connection with the local army, he took a job as a mercenary's apprentice (meaning he would be favored as a meat shield).

After surviving some skirmishes and acquiring a small amount of renown for not smelling and fighting in melee and ranged warfare reasonably well not to die, going as far as dueling in the streets for money, he discovered the nobleman he hated was actually part of the country's navy...Well. Now he would also have to avoid rum in the sea.

Appearance: Narrow-slitted, blue eyes and very long, pitch black straight hair. Clear, lightly pale skin, lean body usually stuck inside surprisingly good-quality although simple clothing. Has dog ears, tail and mannerisms which he usually tries to hide; he also avoids alcoholic beverages like they are the devil's calling. He has his reasons.

Bio: There are a few things that Axl has learned throughout his life - but the most important one being that everyone hates goblins. Even the goblins themselves. Born into a family somewhere at the bottom of society, from the day of his birth he struggled to survive. Small and scrawny even for a goblin, he had to compensate for his lack of strength with agility, cleverness and utter disregard for any sort of honor. When he was old enough to fend for himself somewhat, he left the dump that he called his hometown, hoping to never see it again... and got kidnapped by slavers almost instantly, getting shipped to a faraway country for his troubles. He was then sold to a crazy alchemist, becoming a silent (for fear of death) slave-assistant, watching and learning. This arrangement lasted until the alchemist's head met a pitchfork. In the following chaos, Axl escaped with the valuables that were left, a few handy (but unrefined) skills from years of watching and possibly a case of mild insanity from the noxious fumes. Life hasn't exactly been kind to him since then as well, as an independant traveler, scroundrel and generally untrustworthy person, but that could always change, right?

In response to the bulletin you posted asking for anyone interested in joining a less than noble party of scoundrels, i would like to put forth an application for candidacy, Before doing so however i would like to enquire as to the whether or not i would meet the basic requirements for joining your motley band of scoundrels due to the fact that i am currently wanted for the pilfering of goods from my previous employer before earning my living by picking pockets and sneaking onto the docks to steal cargo from the gem merchants and spice traders.

Bio: Jeeves was born in the year <starting year -21> to a somewhat poor family and as a child enjoyed nothing more than to roam the streets with the children his age stealing sweet rolls from the local vendors and starting fights among the various bullies by stealing from one or several of them and hiding it in another bullies belongings, as he grew older however his parents decided to set him under the tutelage of a successful trader's manservant to try and elevate him to a higher social station.
Soon after his 17th birthday Jeeves decided he could take no more of the monotony that was his life and proceeded to steal several valuable items of silverware before fleeing deep into the city. After a few years of relying on his finely tuned motor skills to pilfer the pockets of the prosperous, out-maneuvering the city watch and outfighting or outrunning the various muggers he decided to move on to greater and more exciting challenges. Upon stumbling across a bounty poster floating in the gutter outside his favorite tavern offering a reward for the capture of a so called "pirate" who had been eluding the local navy forces for several months he decided he had found his true calling and began working his way towards the docks.

Bio: Green eyed and average sized for a gnome, that being pretty damn tiny. His hair's black and short, but not too short for a few haphazardly placed ties. This goes along with his scruffy beard and tattered clothes, which give the distinct impression that he is not what would best be described as a model citizen. Such assumptions would be quite correct, as Micyn is a member of a local thieve's guild, usually acting as a planner of high-profile heists and making use of the needlessly complicated and highly unreliable mechanisms he creates in his spare time.

for example this would include dexterity modifiers, base hp and bonus/starting skills (such as gnomes getting a bonus to crafting and/or device usage rolls as im sure Sinpwn will enjoy.)

Race: Felisimo (Cat-people, sort of like Khajitt from Skyrim, or Taokaka. Closer to 'humanoid' varation rather than 'human girl with cat ears and tail' kind.)

Appearance: The outer limbs of Magnifique are covered in auburn-orange colored fur. Her inner body is mostly white, except for a patch of auburn-orange fur on her chest and some on her neck that spreads up to both of her cheeks. Two ears poke out on the sides of her head. She has retractable claws on her hands and feet. Magnifique has contrasting black whiskers next to a pink mouth and nose. She is actually tall and lanky for her species, which is rare since Felisimo are meant for agility and stealth.
She wears a tan cloak with a hoodie. (And plain underclothes, if discretion is an issue in a current scenario.)
Bio:

The Felisimo were a species that emerged from a deep jungle. Who they were birthed from is only up to speculation, but they just showed up one day as a group. As they populated, the Felisimo eventually went out of the forest and joined civilization. And that's how it went for thousands of years.

Then one day we get Magnifique. She was the daughter of a Felisimo mother and half-Felisimo father. (Felisimo is a dominant gene, so her human side doesn't show as much, but it does explain her rather large size.) Her family, a sister and three brothers, lived a artisan-class life in a trading port called Olsvey. It was there she met a human boy named Forde, who was agile enough to jump from building rooftop to rooftop and run through fields with Magnifique. During her teenage years, Magnifique's relationship with Forde had become a courtship. They had dates, ate out together, look at the stars, and had plans for marriage.

Then the Pirate Captain 'Archbay' invaded Olsvey.

Archbay and his large crew stormed the town, and their heavy firepower along with brutal tactics overpowered the town militia. At this point, Magnifique and her family were already on a wagon out of town. However, Archbay and his crew chased after the fleeing townspeople on horseback. Mangnifique's family was hit by a grenade, and she and one of her brothers fell out of it. Her brother was killed instantly, and Magnifique never learned of her family's fate, having been knocked unconscious by the explosion. Archbay kidnapped her and turned her into his 'personal wench' on the ship, forcing her to do all sorts of tasks and 'favors' for him against his will. She tried to escape, and was brutally punished after several attempts.

One day, it was discovered that Magnifique was pregnant with Archybay's child. As a result, he treated her less harshly. Magnifique saw this as an opportunity. One day, when they were docked, Magnifique acted as if she was going into labor. When some his henchmen and Archbay took her to a room, she produced hidden weapons and killed or brutally injured all of them, except for Archbay who escaped the onslaught. As she ran away, Archbay caught her and threatened to decapitate her with a scimitar. She faked helplessness, and then with her last hidden pistol, crippled him by shooting him in the groin. After this she successfully escaped.

What followed were the worst times of Magnifique's life. She was destitute and pregnant, becoming a beggar just to barely sustain herself. The only thing that kept her going was the thought of giving her child a chance at a happier fate than her own. One day in the winter, she gave birth.

It was a still birth.

Having lost her child, and bleeding out in the cold winter, it seemed like a perfect time for Magnifique to die. By a stroke of luck, a group of nuns found her laid out on the snow. They took her back to their convent, where she was treated back to health by them. The nuns were the first ones who she told her story to, and they reassured her that this was just a test by God.

Bio: With dark brown hair and a brown complexion, Sūl has the body of a sentinel, built for long terms of work and watch. Her youth was spent at the dock ports, as a lyricist of the sea and a novitiate-mariner to the many seafarers that travel the waves, wiling away time in learning the ropes and refining her craft in the flute for the sailors' morale. A steward to the Quartermaster and the usual hire-hand, she worked for no pay in exchange for education in the arts - a broad term relating to the general acumen of ideas, as those who set sail from her land were of motley profession and trade.

In the years that passed, life was prosperous as she gained prestige within the tradeships and their respective Captains, yet it also grew more difficult as troubles were rising on the horizon. Privateers and pirating bands roved the high seas, disrupting most ships and sinking the rest. This, she knew firsthand as her seventeenth sojourn proved more than just an adventure. She was taken capture along with every single one of the crew - men and women she knew since birth, her neighbors and close friends. Luckily, her captors were of lenient and benevolent temperament, out for only cargo and certain 'discreet' trade, not involving any sentient life. Strangely, the pirate crew was found lacking both in quality and quantity through the journey back to their hideaway - due to this, a rebellion plan was made.

Yet the ensuing battle was fierce to say bluntly, for the captives had little for weaponry other than the scraps they managed to pull together - personal mementos of home, heirlooms and random items strewn about in the holdings. Losing none of their own, while subduing most of the pirates (who were lacking in organization), the former crew were able to capture a single ship and travel back home, in their new attire as freed captives. The first to ever withstand slavery and defeat in their nation.

But it was not all to be, for the whole crew was labelled as deceased in the eyes of the people, and their return did not bode well in their leader's eyes. Though, given pardon for their deeds, the whole crew was to be exiled on the same ship, free to do their will as the waves pleased.

The former Captain however, was sentenced to execution due to the lack of his own ship (for their laws at the time were unlike ours in the modern age) and the burden of leadership passed down to Sūl, being the First Mate at the time. In the coming days, her frequents to the taverns became more abrupt due to the loss of her closest ally leading to her condition today. Drunkenness.

Bio: Damien is a tall, sun-bronzed man with long dark hair tied back with colorful rags. Not content to cast nets like his father and brothers, Damien left his coastal village when he was fourteen years old, hidden among the kegs of ale of a dwarf merchant. After pleading his case, the merchant agreed to take him on as a cabin boy, running errands and learning the life of a sailor.

From that time on, Damien never spent more than three nights running on dry land. He's signed on with crews of all kinds- solid dwarven merchants, inquisitive elven explorers, tricksy gnome smugglers, even the odd goblin or orc mercenary. From each he learned a little something of the seaman's art, dabbling in swordplay, archery, navigation, carpentry, and of course all the day to day essentials of keeping a ship afloat! He never stayed with any crew or captain for too long, however, often changing ships on a whim.

Damien doesn't sail for the money, nor for the fame (not that he argues with either when they come his way!) but for the adventure- to see new sights, walk deserted, enchanted islands, talk with strange people from stranger lands, and encounter terrible sea monsters- things of story and song, far away from home and hearth. He hopes to find crewmates willing to brave these perils, for the life of a sailor is necessarily a shared one- there isn't a boat afloat that could be piloted by one man, even one so talented as Damien Wavestrider!

Bio: "Formian society is one built on law, order, and authority. The hive works for the betterment of the hive, and every individual works for the hive. From the moment they are laid by their mother Queen, till they die, they serve and do as the hive needs. All for the hive.

I was one of them, a myrmarch, those few of the hive with what you foreigners call intelligence...to your understanding anyway. I knew what it was like to be creative, to have a will and know freedom. And yet, I served the queen and the hive. I was charged with the expansion of the gold mines...for trade with the local orc tribes you understand; a symbiotic relationship. We provided goods, they provided safety. But anyway, I was successful with increasing our gold production, tripling our output during my service. The orcs were undoubtedly pleased and I was thanked by my peers. Understand thought that I did it for the hive, and my reward was knowing the hive would thrive and survive.

Eventually it came to be that our Queen died. She was my mother you know. When the queen died, there was a power vacuum between the Princesses...The hive was plunged into anarchy and soon our industries came to a halt. I saw my mines stop utterly and become decrepit. Of course, the orcs saw opportunity in this. They robbed our colonies and plundered...*sigh* allies these days...

But of course that is not the end of my story. Eventually a queen was declared, but already too late. Far too late. The orcish tribes were at our capital, already pouring into our tunnels...." The children they were just pupae... "...and sacking our grand stores. Even our promises of gold did not please them. I knew our hive was doomed and in my moment of weakness...I ran. I abandoned hive and queen," their fear was in the very scents, "seeking my way through the deep tunnels," I heard their last moments, "and found an old tunnel leading to our western-most outpost." I felt the hivemind diminish one by one. "It was abandoned and looted, but there were no orcs at least. I smelled foreign scents to the west, the smell of these...cities. I decided to head there, I had heard that it was like a hive...I found it to be strange. My welcome was less than...welcome. I soon learned it was a lawless hive of villainy, so different from the hive. Deciding that I had to change or die, I decided to fit in...I first tried trading or administrating....I wasn't made any of it. It was so different from the world of the hive, of the efficiency and law. Eventually I sought out more...degrading work. As a amusement or physical labour". The laughs. "In time I enlisted on a ship...a pirate ship and things happened and now I'm here, asking for another placement...I may not be what one would expect...but I have my uses. Am I...accepted? You can call me Deserter by the way."

A bit too serious for this kind of game, but meh.
