Oh hell, the amusing level of manipulation we could pull if everyone thought we were a messenger from god.

You go out into the woods, looking for an animal to consume. You see a number of birds, but they all fly off before you can reach them. You aren't fast enough in any of your forms to catch them, and you don't have any ranged weapons to hit them with. You try to throw stones at them, but they still manage to get out of the way in time. You'll have to come back and attempt this later.

You return to town within a few hours, only to find a large mob surrounding a young woman tied to a stake. You hear cries of "Witch!". Asking around(disguised as the priest, of course), it appears that the bard encountered the blacksmith's wife directly after his meeting with you, and realized that they couldn't possibly be the same individual. Why this particular girl was chosen is not apparent.

Ask the crowd what's happening, and try to question the girl.

well... help them burn her, then proclaim you must confer with god, come out of the church later and declare that many others may be witches, male and female in the village.

in other words.... lets sow some chaos and reap the rewards.

Shapeshift to the priest body. Tell the villagers that you understand their concerns, but only a man of god like yourself can make the true determination whether she's a witch.

Go to the girl, smile kindly, look her in the eyes...then slowly allow a look of terror and holy indignation to cross our face...let our mouth hang open slightly and silently mouth the words "she's a witch." Then shout it out loud for all to hear, "She's a witch! Burn the demon spawn!"

...before she corrupts more townsfolk.


Then sit back and enjoy the emotional smorgasbord of fear and anger and suspicion that overcomes the entire population.

The villagers follow your command, as you are, after all, the local representative of god on earth. On your orders, the crowd lights up the bonfire that has been built beneath her feet. You take pleasure in her agony as her flesh burns away, but physical pain is dull and unsatisfying food.

"People! I have had a revelation! This hellspawn witch has confederates among you! Even now, they are plotting the destruction of the town! We must find and destroy them before all our souls are lost to Satan!"

Immediately conversation starts in the crowd, and fights begin to break out in isolated pockets. The discord is filling, and nourishing in some sense. You feel as though you might have a better comprehension of these emotions now. And, as we all know, knowledge is power.

Let's not get greedy. We have a good thing going here. Seeds have been sown in fertile soil. They will grow on their own now.

Sit back and wait for them to come to us with problems that require our solutions. Allow them to destroy themselves.

Yep, just wait around, doing your normal priestly duties, and preach about the demons, hellspawn, etc. in your sermons. If any more witch burnings/similar things, preside over them if possible, or at least be present.
