Spoiler: rethought blocking/dodging and countering (click to show/hide)

Well, I've been thinking about it. Dodging was originally the easiest thing in the world, but can be fairly difficult now. Sometimes too difficult with the unforgiving RNG gods. And then there's countering, which is probably one of the rarest things we do. Here's a system that might be nice.

For dodging. Any roll below 51 is an automatic fail, and the difference is done alongside any damage multipliers. To succeed in dodging, it must be 51 or higher, and within 5 or 10(GM choice) of the attack roll. If it's a close call, a penalty of 5 will be put on their next body roll, with no penalty stacking. Criticals are unavoidable, but any protection roll above 70 will keep you from suffering a penalty to rolls and being killed/knocked out.
For any spells that deal a set amount of damage that you fail to dodge or block, you will roll twice. Once on a 1d100 to see if the attack succeeds, and again on a 1d50 if the initial roll fails to see if you take full damage. Any roll above 25 will shave off that much damage, and this roll will not critical.

Now for countering. First, you must declare OOC your intent to counter, and make an intuition roll. Either failure or success, make your normal dodge/block check, if that roll beats the attack roll and you succeeded in the intuition check, you get a free counter. The secondary roll is treated as an average block/dodge roll. A critical block without the counter check will slightly damage and disable the attacker.
If an attacker uses a ranged attack or spell and you cannot reach them given the means available but succeed the counter, you have three options. The first is a free chance to do the first step of any multi-step spells you have, this roll is treated as it would normally be. The second is to deflect the attack(if possible) at a random enemy. And the third is to move for free half the distance you normally can, rounding down to the nearest whole number.

@Criptfiend: You missed some conversations with Kestrel: Adrian paying for some info about magical geopolitics, both modern and historical. That was pretty interesting, but I'll leave that to Adrian to recount if he wants to or not.

You also missed me talking to him about the legality of body swapping (turns out it's stupendously illegal to swap my soul into a human body, so I'd need an elf or a dwarf or something). Also, Kestrel offered to let me steal a secret from him so that he can 'curse' me in order to cure my necroanimation and naturia assimilation diseases. His current offer is that I get turned into a banshee, which is apparently alot like a ghost except that I'd still be able to turn solid again and I'd be able to murder people by screaming. If I do go for it, I'll probably ask, "Who's behind the deaths of the previous Archmages?"

2 hours: Hell Business. Plant the Gingerbread House seed on the banks of the Styx near Tartarus and deliver the White Corn that the Yellow Lich requires for the Naga project.
4 hours: Practice ahead of time for my lessons with the were students, hoping to be more skilled at teaching in time for our next lesson. 1d80+8, same mods as last time.
6 hours: Deal with the Affriena Cult's football player problem by going down to the beach and threatening to report them to the cops and to their principal if they don't stop with the wild parties and the water-ballooning houses. 1d80+2+2 for Intution and Fear-of-Getting-Thrown-Off-the-Team respectively.
