Currently, multiple bonuses are handled by ignoring all but the best bonus and worst penalty. So, if you have a set of modifiers like [+5, +5, -5, -10, -10, -3], then your total modifier is just -5 rather than the -18 it would be if you just summed them.

But Lillipad has a point - if Haika updates how that works before the turn is written (which may well happen) then that information could become relevant under the new rules..

@Grek: I don't have any rats or candles. I do have a jar though. Are you are welcome to a critter when I FINALLY CATCH THE BASTARDS. As for candles... I would assume there are some in the store rooms here, since this place seems to use that sorta stuff for lighting.

@Dwarmin: Living armor and stuff is a really good idea. But it's really far away. I will work towards it, but it will be awhile.

@Lilli For now only add your biggest positive number to your biggest negative number. You seem to be doing it wrong Lilli. When Haika changes it all the bonus/penalties will be worth less but they will stack. I'm going to work out and then roll the turn when I get back. Even if Haika gets the new rules up by then, I'll keep the old rules for one last go around just to save you all from doing the math twice.

Also apologies about the whole conduct thing. I will be enforcing it in the strictest possible sense, and I do not appologise for that, but I will give you warning if you do something blatant. Honestly I didn't read the description of the job Haika wrote properly, and by the time I figured out a conduct problem existed the turn was 3/4ths written and I didn't feel like waiting on a PM. Have an Aura Point for your trouble.

@Crypt try getting somebody with a better luck stat to check the damn traps. If you fail to many more times I'm going to have to invent some rodent based villain to explain the issue away. Also reading is a knowledge check, and unless you are reading something obviously short like a bathroom book or note, the time chart applies.

@Tar Include you dang mods and inventory in your post!

Payday!

Kestrel finds each of you about the manor and hands you an envelope with 1500$ USD in it, then tells you to go talk to Tohsaka about something. He wanders off before you can ask what it is.

Finding the old japanese woman standing impatiently outside her room you ask her what's going on. She tells you she needs you to look at something, and opens the door to her room. As you turn to enter she wacks you hard on the back of the head with a gnarled tree staff with an emerald embedded in it, and you black out.

You wake up in your room wondering what happened, but your body feels like it is pulsing with power for some reason. It's so distracting that you almost forget what Tohsaka did to you.

HP update!:
Spell Tally:
Grek/Ariel: (3) +4
Lilli/Harman: (3) +8
Cript/Henry: (3) +4
Tar/Adrian: (3) +10
Dwarmin/Kathryn: (3) +2

You gain 5hp for each spell you know beyond your first three.

I think you might have nerfed everything a bit too much. I don't feel like I'd be achieving anything by improving stats or mastering spells with the new mods.

The idea is that you are all still fairly inexperienced. And as you learn new spells and skills and gain magical equipment and such you will become stronger.

I dunno, the new modifiers seem a bit... small for a d100 system. Maybe just half the old ones and see how that works?

Got to agree that these do seem a bit small. Under the new rules, the absolute best case for a spell is if you have a 41+ in the relevant stat, have mastered it, are spending 10+ hours casting it and have both your focus and personal limitations working in your favour. All of that comes together for a grand total of +16 which gives you a 3% chance to critically fail, a 31% chance to regular fail, an 11% chance to critically succed and a 55% chance to regular succeed. Which is to say that the absolute best possible conditions can only take you from a base rate of even odds for success/failure to succeeding twice for every one failure.

Equally, though, "Impossible" odds aren't actually impossible. They're a -18 at worst, which means that you'll succeed about once every four tries even if you're completely inept.

Can you get that information up on the OP Haika? We don't all need to remember to go to page 19 of the topic if we want to look up the mods. Just back up the old information, I have a feeling the system is not done evolving yet. :)

Gonna do some PbP Pokemon stuff and then roll the turn. Not sure I'll be able to do two in one day, expecialy because I think my Pokemon people wanna go tonight.

@Tar: Yeah. But it should stack nicely. If you guys are smart you should be able to still get +10's and even +15s. I'm not sure if that is enough, and I know Crit Changes will have to accompany it, but Haika likes the idea so I say lets give it a try.

I was waiting for the turn using the old system first, but I can put it into the opening post I guess.

This system is a headache, I discontinued the Aglaia game I had running for similar issues. It was either too easy, too random, or too hard. This major change is supposed to allow you to find many different mods to add to your rolls from things like equipment. If people don't like it, then start comming up with your own ideas and I'll let you do all this work.

The problem is that we don't have that many mods that can be added right now. I don't believe any of us have developed new mundane skills or increased a stat yet, so we can't do that. I'd say just revert to the old form, but let us stack mods, and include more -10s and -15s to go with higher things so that we can't abuse the mods. Or just do what Grek said and try everything at half power rounding down to the nearest whole number when necessary.
Scaling everything to 1/5 is just a bit too dramatic at the moment.

Don't get down on yourself. We can make this work. Dontcha worry. Just alot of trial and error involved is all.

We gotta try it before we dismiss it. Also under the new system I think I'd be willing to let you justify any minor factor that may work in your favor as a +1 or +2. Find and use some proper tools for the job? +1. Flavor your action in a way that accounts for your past flavor mistakes? +2. Ect. I'm sure you can think of all sorts of things.

Encourages creativity and deviousness on the part of the players. I do like that.
