Alright. I've posted here and PMed Haika. He hasn't been on steam for 41 days. Tar said he tried something else to get in touch with him.
This Sunday, May 5th, is the 1 year anniversary of this thread. He has until then, and after that I'm not going to wait any longer. I've been doing some preliminary work in the meantime, which I will link to then.
Anyway here is a rough schedule for the early development of the game, assuming Haika doesn't show up.May 5th: Development is officially launched with a topic on the b12 Creative Projects board
May 5th-14th: Discussion on the development topic will be open to the public. Two topics that I want discussed before I get too in depth with designing the mechanics will be up for debate.
1: Since I am adapting this from a system designed for a Pokemon System, there will be an elemental Rock/Paper/Scissors mechanic in place. The community will discuss what these elements should be, and how they should interact in terms of weaknesses and strengths.
2: This will be mainly a high fantasy game set in a modern setting. I would like to know which mundane modern skills the community thinks is important for such a setting. I will come up with the ideas for the magical skills myself, based on the character types from the Original Magia Exquisitis, and the feedback provided by discussion topic one.
May 15th-22nd: I will put together basic character classes based on the characters from the original Magia Exquisitis, and the discussions and suggestions on the topic. I will also try to come up with a few lists of common spells and features that any character with access to a decent library of spell books can research, so that characters don't have to entirely rely on the crazed experimentation of the original game.
May 23rd-Sometime in Late May/Early June: I will be moving and then taking a road trip. Depending on how far I have gotten in the development process, I may open up more development discussion on the creative projects topic.
After That: Ideally I should be far enough along to try and run a game.
I could use a bit of help leading the first development discussion (I will be insanely busy with school during that time). If my Pokemon game survives all the off weeks I throw at it this month, and a potential change in media if I lose access to maptools, I would like a co-gm for Magia so I don't have to run two games entirely by myself. If somebody is great with Wiki-code, that would also be a boon, but I'm working on figuring that out myself.
If you are intrested in Co-GMing or leading development discussions, please let me know early so we can discuss setting, expectations, and other such things beforehand.
