(Ouch. Triple Post)
Adrian:
Over breakfast you overhear Knox remark that Rico the Refined kept an impressive personal library. You are not sure if the cazy potion makers intrests extended to magitech, but decide that it is as good a place to start your quest for books as any.
Dragging your wife along you head down to Palorur’s place and ask if the library is still around. Palorur tells you that you came just in the knick of time as he was about to clear it out and donate the books to the San Diego Magical Library. Upon hearing about the San Diego Magical Library you decide that it would likely be a better place to find your books. Palorur gives you directions and lets you borrow one of Rico’s confiscated cars.
At the Library you are met by an old man who calls himself Ming. Ming recognizes that you are both young and ambitious, and decides to give you all three books you are looking for to keep, in exchange for a favor to be called in later. (+Books, You owe a favor to Ming) 1d80+4 = 60 + 4 = 64
Kathryn:
You meet up with Henry and decide to briefly tour New York to check in on old friends.
The first stop you make is in an arcade run by Ravial, an old friend of yours and your prime suspect in several unsolved disappearance cases. You talk for a bit, before Ravial pulls out a small cardboard box and tosses it to you. Inside is a bright green portal key and a simple note in celtic reading ‘you will find out what this is someday.’
You recognize the handwriting on the note as belonging Gwen, an old Irishwoman who used to give you hints and tips on some of your detective work, asking only for you to visit her and practice your celtic as payment.
Ravial explains that Gwen stopped in a few weeks back and told him that she was expecting to be killed soon, and wanted to give the green gem to you. Both parties figured that the arcade would be one of your first stops should you ever return to New York, so the Portal Key was left with him. Ravial uncomfortably dances around telling you what the green gem is until you whip out your own blue portal key and dramatically inform him that you are a practitioner now, at which point the creepy arcade owner sheepishly informs you that he has no clue where the key connects to. (+Green Portal Key) 1d80+2 = 67 + 2 = 69 [Good Random Event]
Ravial quickly becomes cold and distant after you reveal to him that you now understand magic, you can tell that he is perhaps afraid that you are a threat. Eventually you get the point that he wants you gone, grab henry and leave.
You arrive at Andre’s estate, and true to the creepy christmas card repeating his true name three times is enough to get you through the magical defences. The dragon meets you on the lawn and is disappointed when you inform him that you have only come to deliver a package, and even more disappointed when you introduce him to Henry.
Andre takes the package and offers you both a tour of his mannor. Somewhere between the indoor hockey rink and the classic car collection you vision flashes and you suddenly find yourself alone and with Andre in a large master bedroom. The dragon instructs you to disrobe and for reasons you cannot understand you obey. (You fail to resist charm spell) 1d80+4 = 20 + 4 = 24
“You are a member of the circle now Kathryn my sweet, and an Archmage to boot. There is a fair chance that you could become more powerful than me, politically or even magically, in the near future. I have to satisfy my urge to claim you now, else it could be my undoing later when and if you surpass me... Are you wearing my brand of frilly underwear? I’m flattered...”
The Dragon places his human hand on your shoulder.
“I have blinked us out of time so Henry should not suspect a thing, your relationship will not be harmed by this. I have a potion to undo any physical damage you take, and in a few seconds I will turn up the power on my charm spell so as to protect you from mental scarring. After this I should be able to leave you alone, and we can both get on with our lives assuming you don’t hold a grudge. You won our last meeting, and I win here. I’m willing to settle for a draw and avoid a rubber match if you are.”
With that the charm spell is brought up to maximum power and the most beautiful creature you have ever laid eyes on advances toward you...
...You put your clothes back on and Andre hands two potions, one red and one black. He explains the black one, if taken right right before you go to sleep, will cause you to forget any events you experienced while under a charm spell over the past week. The red one, if taken within the next 72 hours will allow your genetic material to combine properly with his and cause you to painlessly create an egg bearing your offspring in your sleep. He tells you to keep both and use them as you see fit. (+Potion of Clear Shame, +Potion of Dragon Spawn)
Returning with Andre to the natural timeline, you complete the tour. Andre gives you 10000 bucks for your delivery services and releases you from the spell, bolting back into his manor before you have time to possibly act against him. (+10000 USD)
On the flight back home you learn a bit about some of the creatures that live in the realm of water from Jaegen’s journal. (+1/4 Magical Marine Biology Skill) 1d80+2 = 70 + 2 = 72
Henry:
You meet up with Kathryn and explore the city, stopping first in a small arcade. As it is a school day no kids are currently in the building. The walls are covered in many strange items and artifacts, many of which are clearly magical.
Between the pinball table and the Donkey Kong cabinet you spot what appears to be a Clockwork Devil. You approach the seemingly inanimate beast and knock on it’s head. To your shock its eyes flicker to life and look you over.
The Devil explains that he is working as a power generator to put himself through school as a Defusion Technician. You have a brief conversation with the devil who offers to cleanup Travis’ visible mistakes on your body if you ever find yourself back in New York with a day to spare and a fresh corpse to use as parts. 1d80-2 = 38 - 2 = 36 [Neutral Random Event]
After a few more stops your tour of the New York area brings you to the manor of the dragon to whom Kathryn’s package was to be delivered. Andre comes off as the perfect gentleman and gives you the grand tour of the manor, which makes the one where you currently live look like a dinky cabin in the woods by comparison. You notice that Kathryn is acting just a little strange, but you assume that is because she is impressed by the house or attracted to you. (You fail to catch on to Andre’s shenanigans) 1d80+2 = 5 + 2 = 7
Eventually the tour ends and the pair of you head to the airport. The flight back to LA is lonely, as you did not book with the same airline that Kathryn did.
Ariel:
You flip the coin and it lands on tails, amplifying all your luck, good and bad, for the next several minutes. (You coin loses its magic) 1d2 = 2 Coin is tails
Kneeling on your bed you begin to pray to every god or demon whom you have ever heard of, pleading to be put back in touch with Frankie. Nothing happens at first, but since the coin landed tails you are sure that something dramatic is bound to occur. You continue to pray and cry until suddenly Otto asks you for a fish in english.
You quickly ask a few questions to confirm that the thing in your ‘gator’s body is your old familiar. He speaks in urban ebonics now, and some of his memories have been displaced or replaced from lingering with the souls of the Lich’s mummy collection, but it is indeed your dear friend Frankie and he is mostly intact. (Frankiegator Has Been Born) 1d80+5 = 75 + 5 = 80 (Autocrit)
The rest of your day is spent with the Yellow Lich in Tartarus, where you and your harpy thrall help the tiny bird clear the rubble from yesterday so he can start to rebuild. The Lich is in a dark mood. He tells you that he would have easily been destroyed by the blast if he wasn’t touching you. He also confesses that he is madly in love with but frustrated because his current body can’t do all that much with a humanoid partner.
Frankie suggests that he should build himself a new body, and the lich likes the idea. He figures he could construct a suitable body out of your harpy and the remains of the naga, but he’d need a few other avian or reptilian creatures to provide the bells, whistles, and undoomseed infected innards. 1d80 = 37 [Neutral Random Event]
