The Mercenaries, a BattleTech/MechWarrior RPG

Outreach is considered to be the mercenary capital of the Inner Sphere.  It is home to the Wolf's Dragoons, perhaps the best-equipped and most mysterious Mercenary Company. After assisting Peter Steiner-Davion overthrow Katherine Steiner from ruling both the Federated Suns and the Lyran Alliance, the Helldivers, a company run by Solaris VII Grand Champion, a man known only as Spectre. this is where You start. Currewntly, the Clans aren't planning on attacking us, considering the tech levels have been evened out. But some religious nutjobs called the Word of Blake have been prepping for something... dark storm clouds are brewing...

Joshua Marakais, or Phantom (no relation to Spectre) was waiting in some bar on Outreach. Maybe find some others with similarly crazy minds like him... but after the whold FedCom Civil War, all the juicy conracts dried up. Maybe get some defense jobs fighting raiders or pirates or some dren. Better than waiting. Waiting for the Word of Blake to find some Lostech and try an kill us all. That'd be a hoot. But then, he supposed, contracts from everyone would start springing up, and Outreach would be a ghost town. Oh well, better enjoy this drink, happy hour is fast approachin'


Basically, a BattleTech/MechWarrior/MechAssault Roleplay. I need 7 (2 lances of 4, including me) people to play as (not so) valiant MechWarriors (Mercenaries).

This is the Inner Sphere



Free Worlds League is run by House Marik (fairly nice people.)
The Federated Suns by House Davion (Peter Steiner-Davion is regarded as a 'pretty good guy')
The Draconis Combine is ruled by House Kurita (honour bound. You save them, they're in your debt and things like that)
The Lyran Alliance is ruled by iron-handed Stephanie Steiner of house Steiner (She is really cold. don't mess with her)
and finally, the capellan confederation is run by the Liao (pay well, but the missions are damn hard)

The Primer (for people unfamiliar with BattleTech)

First off, 'Mechs were created as the ultimate weapons of war. they were armed with devastating firepower, can be fitted with electronic packages, have things like jump-jets, and have vary advanced armour. these were first made by the Star League (all-around good guys) from anywhere between 20-100 Tons (there are security types that are 15 or so, but that is stupid, and a three-legged mech, the Ares is 125-135 Tons) and can be fitted with different weapons. After a big war (the 1st Sucession War) a General by the name of Kerensky took his Defense force, and left the Inner Sphere (this becomes important) Wars broke out using BattleMechs and stuff like tanks, helicopters, aircraft etc. Until, after a few hundred years, (3049) the Clans (the ancestors of Kerensky's force) invaded with OMGWTFBBQ weapons. After 3 years, they drove them back blah blah explodey stuff. Then the aforementioned FedCom incident blah blah blah.

MECHS
Ranging in weight from 20 tons (Light) to 100 tons (Assault) these things are masters of the battlefield. Reaching speeds of up to 170KM/H and armed with lasers, missiles and cannons. However, there is only one issue. Heat. If a Mech gets too hot from firing lasers and such, they shut down and such. So watch using heavy missile and laser loads.

Personality: Normally a calm person, it's hard to get him angry. He's good enough in a fight, but if you somehow light his fuse, it's a good idea to get away as soon as possible. It's known to be very hard to get him to even show signs of anger.
He's capable of changing around mech configurations, allowing him to play with balance, coordination, and the like.
History:
He was once involved with a secret ops squad, the leader of the "Silver Sword". He unceremoniously went AWOL after losing his squadmate and love interest, Sanya. Doing the only thing he knows how to do, he now fights as a mercenary. While he may seem calm, memories of those days can bring up some strong emotion, effectively turning him into a loose cannon made of glass and splinters.

Personality: Calm, collected and calculating, the three 'C's' that make up Matt. A strategist at heart, he assesses situations before responding, putting himself in the best position possible to ensure the mission's success, or his squadmates survival, even if he lacks the skills or the equipment if the situation is dire enough.
He prefers to engage at extreme ranges, bombarding the enemy in artillery like volleys, before closing in with everyone else, capable in fierce firefights. Whilst adaptable, he prefers medium range where he can bring his entire arsenal of weaponry to bear.
Whilst quiet, he looks out for everyone first, and is willing to voice his opinion if he feels it'll benefit everyone.
History: Raised as a mercenary, like his parents, he's always known fighting for money, feeling completely natural to him. He saw conflicts at an early age, and showed his aptness for strategy when assessing a particular battle. When he was old and qualified enough, he became a full grown mercenary himself. He has had no experience of any other type of life, and seems content as a result.
