As much as I like Company of Heroes, the sequel seems to be moving toward micro-transactions for its maps and skins...

So they finally started rolling out some game play videos.

http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/company-of-heroes-2/1226867p1.html

To me, it looks like the graphics have improved somewhat over CoH, but not exactly to the degree I expected, considering the original came out 6 years ago and there have been two engine revisions since then.

However, there's a lot of visible activity going on at once and lots of other graphical flares, that makes me think the overall quality and fidelity is what it is because of frame rates.

I'm very tempted to finally pre-order now that they've released some videos, but part of me still wants to wait to hear more about how the rest of this questionable stuff is shaking out.

Also, apparently they're making a straight-to-dvd CoH movie....and it sounds fucking ridiculous.

I am so excited for this game.  The eastern front is never covered for some odd reason, even though it was super intense.  I mean, the largest tank battle in the history of the world happened on the eastern front unless I am mistaken.

Here is a really interesting flash about it:

Dawn of War 2 is the Essence Engine 2.0. This is the Essence Engine 3.0.

The beta is now out!

I have played a good 30 minutes of it and I can say I'm enjoying it ( I'm annoyed at the lack of realism ( 2 squads stand nose to nose not killing each over quickly )) hopefully they still allow extensive mods

The maps look nice and there is some really beautiful map scarring as you fight.

Everything is closer up and more detailed now good and bad thing when your fighting a tactical RTS and you can't bloody see everything.

Lack of stuff is what hits me most right now only limited buildings and units hopefully they add more.

They are also doing some nice stuff with the multiplayer, you have ranks and stuff and you can gain new stuff like new commander abilities and skills and little boosts to how your men fight, but these boosts are for specific play style. If you prefer to use infantry there's some boosts to help with that while hindering in areas say like heavy tanks.

I still need to play a snow map to see the snow mechanics.

Overall seems like its going to turn out to be good, not groundbreaking like the first one but still a good solid game ( I hope anyway )

Also Germans have the elefant which is really cool.

EDIT: Whoops, sorry folks, looks like there's an NDA. Should probably have checked that first eh?

Since we have so many CoH & MoW fans around here, if anyone wants to play either, let me know.  I typically play comp stomps multiplayer (players vs computer) on CoH, do campaign missions co-op in MoW but will occasionally play team deathmatch (Combat)

If it's NDA you should probably remove the quotes as well.
