I'm driving a truck built the year I was born and it's falling apart. Fuck.
Like a truck, truck, or a not-so truck, truck?

I was born about six months after the fall of Saigon.
About two weeks after the first episode of Saturday Night Live.
One month before The Rocky Horror Picture Show premiered.

They were still flying Apollo missions when I was born.  :'(

I think the big divide between thirtysomethings (GenX) and everyone that came after is that I was fully cognizant of the Cold War during the 1980's. It didn't seem weird to me to go about our daily lives with the knowledge in the back of our heads that we could all be turned into radioactive ash with almost no warning. There was just this unspoken assumption that WWIII was just a matter of when, not if. And we'd all either be vaporized in the first exchange or live a really cool life among the wreckage, scavenging and fighting mutants. Actually, in my case, it wasn't really a question. I lived 5 minutes from the largest petroleum holding facility on the East Coast. I knew I would be dust.

There was this one episode of the new Twilight Zone that really captured that feeling, with the last scene with everything frozen and there's this Soviet ICBM just hanging in midair, about to hit.

Jesus fucking Christ. I have been wondering what show that was for as long as I can remember. Never thought I would actually find out, especially after I had completely forgotten about it for a looooong time.

Anyway, 16 here. Its actually interesting to look at this age, and realize that I am nostalgic about games(dungeon keeper, MOO2, etc) that came out when I was 1 or 2.

I'm 25, imagine how I feel. :)

I actually went through a "everything is different now and sucks" phase when I was about 19.  I've mellowed out considerably about it in recent years though.  I don't whine and complain about how my favorite franchises were "destroyed" when they started catering to new, younger people.  I just move on.

I do feel nostalgia a lot lately though.  Just got the ReBoot DVDs, and boy did that bring back memories.

Geez, that Twilight Zone clip was a nostalgia trip. Practically grew up with reruns of it.

Speaking of nostalgia, is anyone else familiar with one of the greatest terror movies ever made?

I've turned 20 today! I'm old, I have bills, a ever increasing amount of student loans and a internship.

The world almost went to hell in a handbasket during my first full day alive. (Look up Stanislav Petrov for more info.) ^_^ Things have only gotten better since.

....Dang kids.

I saw all those episodes in original airing. Warped the fuck out of my adolescent years, too.

My reruns were things like Battlestar Galactica and the Third and Fourth Doctor Who.

Hey, at least I'm honest about it.  :P

Though honestly, given the way my parents are, it was sort of like I was growing up in the '80s while at home and the '90s while everywhere else.

Full size pickup truck truck. A Sierra. '94 was a good year.

I always feel sad when people reminisce about the shows they want and I can't I read and internet too much to watch any shows.

for a second there I thought it was an 18 wheeler truck, truck. Then I was like why would your average person own one of those?

Heh. I'm turning 23 in a few days, but I don't feel old. Especially since all the videogames I played, and the tv shows I used to watch, were already "old" when I was a kid, and nobody my age knew about them anymore anyways.

But my "whoa" moment is realizing that friends my age are working toward their master degree while I'm still stuck at high school diploma level, trying to make things work. Where did the last five years go ? :)
