Welcome to DF .35 (hypothetical)
« on: May 03, 2012, 07:39:17 pm »

With all the new fun of minecarts that is being added, what do you think the end result will be?  I think it will be *DWARFCOASTER TYCOON!*  There will be all sorts of fun rides for the family so make sure to bring those goblin kids.

Currently the !FUN! park spots a wacky and wild mine tunnel ride full of pits and jumps carefully watched over by our marksdwarves safety service crew.  It ends with a magma splash pool that will give you a burning desire to take a 2nd ride!

Coming soon:  Bumper Wagons (dwarf only, goblins must enter on foot), Ferris wheel of DOOM! (themed in Indiana Jones style with magma or water dip at the bottom), The Creature Cannon (feel what it is like to fly, safety net not included)

My favorite trick was always to have my roller coaster rides be free, but make them crash into a walled-off area where medical attention costs $50 a pop, and so do the drinks and food, and wait for my victims to be completely drained of money before letting them out.

Was that before or after you started playing DF?

Before, I played that game before I'd ever heard of DF.

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

I'm 90% sure that, at least in RCT1/2, crashing coasters would instantly kill everyone inside >_>

It probably wasn't Roller Coaster Tycoon, but one of the knock-off games that I played before I played Roller Coaster Tycoon...

There were so many knock-offs I can't remember which was which...

I agree. I wasn't really that interested until I read the mermaid thread a couple years ago.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

This might be the first time I've inspired a sig-worthy quote. I've written a few before, so this isn't that big of an achievement. I guess the bigger one is inspiring such a philosophical quote.

I plan to embark in the north and build the trans-siberian railway.

I had an above ground garden built in the grounds of my castle and two young dwarves spent time socialising there over the summer and at the end of the summer they were in love. Remember those long summers of your childhood? That first kiss in the gardens while crossbows dwarves shoot goblins above your head? The rain of dead birds as the hunters get to work? Truly Spearhills is a paradise.

I'm honestly more excited for the stone change. No more having to hold back my legendary miners!

Carts will definitely make things interesting, though. I wonder if marksdwarves can shoot while sitting in mine carts?

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?
