I am currently playing a game as Sowers. I have a huge lead on everyone so I decide to send a single dreadnaught decked out in all defenses and beams. Has 2000 health.

What I wasnt expecting was that the UE would have a bunch of fleets parked on a single system. So my dreadnaught gets attacked by 3 fleets back to back. Guess how much health it had left by the end. Just guess.

Well, you are wrong. Its 4000 health. Not a single scratch on the thing(well, it got scratched once, but repaired instantly). In those 3 fights it got 120 XP and 7 levels, which means that its health doubled.

Gonna check if the UE have any fleets left, and send it against everyone else too. Will see when it dies, or if it continues to gain health from getting shot till the end of time.

How did you get to such a huge lead, though?

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

The usual way. Just expanding to the good planets, building up the economy. Going straight for industry techs. Forgetting to research arid colonization for a while. Putting taxes so low that everyone is having a permanent party and smiling in their sleep. I should really play on serious or impossible at this point, but meh, its not entirely unfun to stomp the AI on hard. I am actually in a permanent war against 4 empires, havent lost a single system.

EDIT: Another 4 fleets taken out. Level 10 now. 11400 health. Also threw a hero on board just for shits.

I'm still pretty sure the AI doesn't actually exist. It's just a barebones variant which cheats a lot to catch up just to make the game playable.

The alternative is that the AI really is that terrible.

Teraforming disapoints me.

It takes soo much effort to Teraform planets that it doesn't really pay off except to possibly create more lava planets.

Jungle is better.  Significantly higher population cap, only slightly lower per-pop production.

But yes, it's largely not useful.

I've heard Lava wins out just barely thanks to the Lava planet bonuses. Since the "Significantly higher population cap" is I believe 3-4 people which can be hard to fill.

Though even then it takes SOOO much to actually get jungle planets (it is a 2nd to last teraforming tier research...

They also don't allow you to do double-teraforming shifts...

Lava doesn't have that many bonuses.  Someone is claiming tundra is better, as there are so many other bonuses you can build, but it comes really close to jungle, but jungle doesn't need those extra buildings sucking dust away.

It has to be the former. Please.

If you look through the public files, you can locate one of the XML files that deals with how the AI prioritizes building structures, depending on what the AI is trying to maximize (food, production, dust, science).  It's not great, but it works.

There is/was a bug where there was an error in the XML and the AI manager would go into a tundra -> jungle -> tundra terraforming cycle.

What's the verdict on this game? Worth it?

In my opinion, yes.

I dont really know your tastes in games. If you would like a 4X with a slick UI and pretty easy to grasp mechanics, then you should like it. If you want in-depth tactical combat, then you wont. You should really tell us what you like before we can just say "Worth it!".

Does maneuvering ships matter in any way? If not, not really worth it.

Maneuvering fleets on the main map can matter quite a bit. Individual battles, it's not really an option.

You only like games where maneuvering a ship is a critical gameplay element? Sound kind of boring to me.

Looking at it from what I understand this game is a modern recreation attempt of MOO, similar to Xenonauts and that of Xcom? I just started playing MOO today and now I really understand what type of game Endless Space is, or what it seems.

Sounds like I might enjoy it. If it's anything like MOO or MOO2, I'd probably get my money's worth out of it.
