This game has me split. On one hand, it combines features from a couple 4X games I know I like, and looks fairly good, even for an incomplete build. On the other, it'll burn up most of what I've put aside for entertainment spending this summer, potentially meaning no CS:GO, which I know I'll love. I've been attacked by the indecision fairy. Wat do?

Attack the indecision fairy and obtain more time from it.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Knock the indecision fairy out, take it hostage and demand ransom. Then you can afford both ES and CS:GO.

Punch the indecision fairy in the face to assert your dominance.

That didn't quite work, so I stabbed it to death with a pair of scissors and bought the darn thing. Time to hoard some spice Dust.

Okay... of all the- how do you cancel a research project? Not only does the logical thing (rightclicking) not work, but there is almost no interface, and it autocues anything you click on. That's a bit much automation for my taste, and the reliance on hover-over popups to convey information (as opposed to just selecting whatever it is you want to check on) is a lot more annoying than I thought it would be. :|

ed: Aaaand I randomly click another tech and it wipes the list. Well then, whatever works.

Yep.  Just click on something else.  Your accumulated research towards Whatever It Was will be retained.  There's no way to remove an item from the queue without rebuilding the whole queue yet though.

Gotta say, the main Amoeba racial trait (starting with vision on the entire galaxy, including homeworlds, resources, etc.) fits my standard 4X strategy like a glove. It's so much easier to snatch up valuable resources and ideal worlds halfway across the galaxy (not to mention walling in enemy factions) when you don't need to bother with scouting.

Teraforming disapoints me.

It takes soo much effort to Teraform planets that it doesn't really pay off except to possibly create more lava planets.

I've been trying to avoid comparisons to the best 4X of all time... but the effort involved here doesn't come anywhere near what you need for a terraforming project even for a near-Earthlike planet in Aurora. Not to mention you can't use your terraformers (well, the abstract ones that you don't see or control in the case of ES) to pump chlorine into the atmosphere of an enemy world.

Unre: Well then. In my current game, I walled in one enemy to a small (~7 systems or of 64) corner of space, blocked another off from any sort of expansion towards me, sealed around a third of the galaxy off for my use with colonies and sentries on choke points, and nabbed every one of the Ionic Crystals (or whatever the ones are that increase movement speed). Early economic hit for absurd advantages in the lategate + the chance to develop in peace while the others peck at my outposts? Every darn time.

Jungle is better.  Significantly higher population cap, only slightly lower per-pop production.

But yes, it's largely not useful.

You forgot the lack of happiness penalty on jungle planets as well.
