Oh my god this looks amazing. I wish I had the money to throw at this right now... I would Let's Play the crap out of this.

It reminds me a bit of Race For the Galaxy, which is definitely a good thing. Been looking for a more tactically-paced sci-fi strategy game for a while, and this might just be it.

It is a very good game.  I await multiplayer to educate people on the virtues of Horatio.

You even chose Horatio to be your avatar, eh?

My previous avatar:    Pul Wat Aa, a 5th dimensional being who wants to unify and simplify the entire universe under their perfect godhood.

My current avatar:    Horatio, an ultra-rich and fashionable eccentric who wants to unify and beautify the universe under their perfect image.

It's just fate, really!!

Personally I prefer the Sophons. That +40% research bonus is just lovely, as well as the fact that they start with more tech than any other faction.

Being able to clone heroes is amazing.

Yes, the Sophons are nice. But I do have one thing to point out:
Newbie difficulty + only one on this half of the galaxy = broken. I know its the easiest difficulty (thats why I tried it first, like I do with civ), but good lord, that was far too easy. I was interrupted by the expansion victory of all things while I was figuring out how to cross to other constellations.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Yeah, the whole "you get half of the galaxy mostly to yourself until you get warp drive" makes the game rather easy.

So I managed to score $30 and I'm looking at this game. So far, I haven't heard anything I really hate.

HOWEVER, I'd like to know how demanding this game is, resource-wise. Do you need a powerful processor and a top-of-the-line graphics card? Can you get by with low-end specs?

I haven't tried moving past the 'Fast' setting (second lowest), but its working perfectly fine on my i3, 4gb ram, intel hd graphics laptop. Occasional lagspike in the battle scenery if I have too many ships in one place (like 22 corvettes)

:O

Those are practically my specs. Awesome!
One last question: What version did everyone buy? I'm thinking about Emperor (extra heroes and skins and so forth), but is the stuff included worth an extra 4bux?

I'll poke back in here later once I've tried a huge map to see if it works less, but a small-medium map worked fine. Whichever one the default was.

Also, theres a bit of a bug in the resolution changer. Fix isn't too hard to find.

I saw this on steam and was amazed. I want it so bad.

It looks like Galactic Civilizations II except way better.

Ok I don't get it...

Was Galactic Civilisations 2 good or bad?

Because I didn't like it but everyone around me liked it. (Also I am starting to despise the "One rail" Research tree method so much. ESPECIALLY in sci-fi settings)
