I really hope they add some hangar bay modules so we can create some carriers.

I believe it's planned.

The galaxies are random, but the planets being more or less good is not. They all have tooltips you can see by hovering over the planet type, and some have better areas than others.

Science: Arctic, tundra, one of the gas giants (helium?)
Dust: Desert, arid, hydrogen? gas giants
Production: Methan gas giants, lava, forget the others
Food: Ocean, jungle, terran.

Barren would also belong into the Dust-category. Also, there are asteroid belts, which give 4 IDS, but no food.

Barren is dust? I've been using them as science planets.

I think they can be exploited for both roughly equally with the right techs.

It ought to be considered dust since it's base FIDS are 0-1-4-0.

Honestly though, I only colonize barren planets if they have some extremely good anomaly, a resource or if the system is just getting so crowded.

Then again, I use these reasons for every planet type other than Tundra, Arid, Ocean, Jungle and Terran.

Tried this game out today, I really liked it, especially the combat, it's quick and to the point. I really wish the camera was a bit more dramatic though, and some combat chatter would be especially nice.

I actually wish you could skip phases more quickly. At some point it just gets annoying. But that's probably my fault for using missiles, that take forever to hit and fire ;)

I've had the opposite problem of Anvilfolk, i end up not getting to see the other phases past Long-Range because of my giant bursts of kinetic/laserfire from fleetfuls of 1CP ships.

Tell me about it. I sent my fleet full of missile destroyers to attack a horatio system defended by a fleet full of missile destroyers. The carnage was beautiful, and by beautiful I mean I had no idea what the hell was going on.

Take note of the dust income. Yah.

I had recently conquered that system(about 6 turns ago). Its dust income has been rising with the moral ever since. I attributed it do a 'pillage' bonus at first, but now its getting ridiculous. Its funding my entire empire(0 tax income). I'm guessing its a bug.

Also, Hissho completely OP with their +45% damage bonus. Combine that with a good hero (another +60%) and another 20% from repeated victories and you have a 125% damage and defense bonus. Then again, every weapon tech increases its power like 1.5x, so maybe not so much. *Shrug*

The game also feels awfully slow with how long it takes to conquer planets. Even with two dedicated bombardment cruisers, a lv 10 melee hero, about 4 minor bombardment cruisers, it still took like 15 turns. I hope it gets fixed.

The random events are also painfully annoying.  :P

Looks interesting and fairly different. I'm not ready to drop $20+ on an alpha build/preorder when I'm saving for a number of other things, but I'm certainly going to keep an eye on this and see where it goes.

From what I read on their forums, carrier tech is out of question for the release date. They do intend to develop it afterwards though.

Kind of a let down, this should be an absolute priority imo. This game also need more freespace style lasers as a medium range weapon. Their laser tech line is more like plasma shots or something.

1) Colonies tend to have improvements that give them +100 to defense
2) ANY enemy ship in system will prevent you from performing an invade that turn.  Yes, even a single scout.

Take note of the dust income. Yah.

<snip>

Try setting th planet to producing dust then remove, or do it for a turn or two then remove it. I've had a similar (but not identical) problem, and when I did that it eventually recalculated how much dust it was supposed to be making. And it wasn't 800+ ;)

Aaaaaaaaaaaalso, what I did was make a dedicated bomber fleet. It just goes in after the main combat fleet is already there so it's safe from harm (since it has no weapons or countermeasures), and it can have invasion modules. If you get there, there's also a module that gives an invasion bonus to all other ships in the fleet. It could take a while to get there since invasion techs are so far up the tech tree.

Actually, you have to put another item into the queue, then swap the two (by dragging the not-dust one into the first slot).

You can do the same thing with science.
