RoryTehNoobThe Mud Snail trudges along to the SW.
At N14's Star System your scanner's pick up two planets orbiting a yellow star.
Planet 1 lies in the Goldilocks Zone. Your sensors compute a 90% chance of life on it.
Planet 2 is farther out, and your sensors computer a 20% chance of life.
A more specific scan on either planet
may reveal additional details.
...
Several other ships join. The Ukrainian Tortuous, The Unholy Scourge, and an unknown ship. The unknown ship(now identified as a Prospector's Explorer) turns to fire on The Unholy Scourge!
You turn to run away and...
You have ambushed a pirate!Oh wait. The pirate ambushed you. It rounds from behind a moon and is closing in fast! Your sensors classify it as a Pirate Frigate(equal to a Zero-K scout damage wise, other attributes are unknown). The Mud Snail creaks in fear.
There is a default 20% chance per turn to encounter a pirate. If a pirate is encountered, I roll a difficulty roll. This does not scale. I don't care if you're in a Mundo's Tug, if you roll a 10 on difficulty, you're getting a pirate battleship.
Being 1 tile away from a space station reduces pirate chance by 10%, and difficulty by 2. Other celestial objects may provide modifiers as well.

Zecro_The_Scourge/Unholy_PariahYou attempt to stir up a group of
meat shields explorers to find
treassssureMost of these fellows ignore you. I mean, you didn't
expect to convince people to go to a supposed death trap, did you?
One however, with a sparkle in his eyes, and a swag in his walk, takes interest in your tale.
Ah yes, I've heard of the tales. With great danger comes great treasure!His eyes sparkle.
Well, let us be off. Let me start up my Prospector's Explorer....
As a fleet, your two ships twinkle in the twilight as you rocket off to N14.
At N14's Star System your scanner's pick up two planets orbiting a yellow star.
Planet 1 lies in the Goldilocks Zone. Your sensors compute a 90% chance of life on it.
Planet 2 is farther out, and your sensors computer a 20% chance of life.
Your communication monitor picks up a planet in this system with intelligent life!
Your ship scanners pick up the mud snail. Its turning away and fleeing from you. You quickly realize your 'partner' is turning to fire on you! He was actually a pirate!
You turn The Unholy Scourge and prepare to fire!
The Mud Snail also gets engaged in combat with a Pirate Frigate. The Ukrainian Tortuous rockets into sensor range.
FYI, you got a good roll on convincing. You got a terrible roll on who you were actually convincing, however.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ukrainian RangerAh. Captain Black Panther. Captain of the Ukrainian Tortuous. It sounds good to you.
You hoist the fusion reactors and make way for N14.
...
You arrive upon multiple skirmishes.
The Unholy Scourge prepares to fire upon an unknown Prospector's Explorer while The Mud Snail futilely tries to outrun a Pirate Frigate.
You have power here. You could tip the fight in either of these ship's favor if you chose to do so.
Your scanner's beep and new info floods your screens.
Your scanner's pick up two planets orbiting a yellow star.
Planet 1 lies in the Goldilocks Zone. Your sensors compute a 90% chance of life on it.
Planet 2 is farther out, and your sensors computer a 20% chance of life.
Another choice occurs to you. Let them fight. You'll slip past them and get whatever great treasure exists on one of these planets.
Toaster/Maldevious/Comrade GafarovYou collectively agree to turn The Red Herring towards J15.
...
You arrive at the system. Scanners once again pick up no planets.
Killerhellhound will be kicked next turn if he does not post a turnI have also decided to 'nerf' the communication monitor. It creates quite a lot more work for me the way it currently works. It can only pick up civilization within the scan zone now. If you don't want it anymore, you can return it to the station for a full refund."Edit" If someone could organize a copy paste for the sign up sheet(and maybe stripping away the needless details, like equipment, ships, ect.(only skills + name/background), I'd greatly appreciate it. I don't exactly have the time to do so at the moment.
