I will from time to time reveal different mechanics. The damage system for ships work like this:
Light Damage
Medium Damage
Heavy Damage
Destruction
For every shot you take, or unfortunate accident committed, you take damage. The degree of the damage depends on the incident, and how tough your ship is. Damage is accumulative. 3 light damage = 1 medium damage. 3 medium damage = 1 heavy damage. 3 heavy damage = Death. The degree of damage will also depend on the part hit. Parts with light or higher damage are disabled until fixed. Each 2 light hits on a part = 1 medium hit, ect.
Light damage is essentially 1/3 medium. So take 9 light hits at medium damage, and you upgrade to heavy damage.(Woo?)
So, in essence, you will have damage bars on individual parts, and a total ship health. Every hit affects total health.
Light damage can repaired using the engineering skill.
For every level of damage, a space station will repair it for 1/4 the cost of the ship. Got heavy damage? Its going to cost you 3/4 of the original price of the ship to repair it. Ship equipment operates the same way(unless its an essential part of the ship, like the engine, or something. If that happens you're dead in the water anyway, so I doubt repairing that at a station will become an issue).
Selling, of course, reflects damage. Have a heavily damaged ship will only net you 3/4 of 1/4 the worth of the ship(otherwise known as 3/16s). So keep your ship in good shape!
A bad engineering roll will make the damage worse(Think 1-4 roll). 5-7 won't get anything done. 8-10 will repair it.
The nebula is very pretty. And nothing tries to kill you. A job well done! You don't find anything though.
You continue on to K15. A close scan reveals no planets orbiting this star.
