"Running with rifles" is a game where you control a soldier, and there are tons of AI soldiers on the field, and you do not have to kill # of players or go somewhere, but you have to influence the battlefield events (area control).
RUNNING WITH RIFLES is a top-down sandbox shooter for PC/Windows, with emphasis on cooperation, squad leading and being a tiny soldier in a big war. The events take place on an open world battlefield divided between two factions, each trying to capture bases from the opposite side until the enemy has been wiped out from the area. The player takes the role of a private and fights along his/her comrades controlled by AI, slowly gaining influence over fellow soldiers through rank promotions from success in battles.
You can lead AI squads and play with other people online (which is really fun).
Here's a preview video by Jefmajor if you want to watch what is it about:

The full game (which is still in beta, so you will get all later updates for free) costs ~6 euro but it's well worth it. It may sound like I suddenly became a spambot, but I really had a kick at it
.
It's increadibly fun and simple. The best way to satisfy the "shoot em" gaming urge, and tactical abilities as well.
P.S. I forgot to mention that it has great cover mechanics and usage of surroundings. You can climb on roofs, lay down and crouch behind various obstacles. Also since it's in development, the developer promises vehicles and destructible environment in the future.
