I think the game could use some more class variety.  I eagerly anticipate the mod community's input here.

From what I've heard from people who've played the beta, the game is solid enough that it doesn't needs mods to fix every lame aspect of it. That doesn't stop me from wondering what the mod community is going to cook up for this. I was really impressed by a few of the Torchlight 1 class mods.

I'm of the same opinion. Every game I know that has supported mods extensively - Civilization, Europa Universalis - already was a good game in its own right before mods struck. But play Fall from Heaven II or Death&Taxes, and you see that even good games can only become better.
That is, by the way, a very good thing.

I base many of my game purchases on the likelihood of a strong mod community.  It's years of added development by people who genuinely love the work.  That can only be a good thing.

I won Hemmingjay's giveaway, so I'll see you lot in the Pit of Screams.  I'll be the one sitting by with an archmage in a tophat sipping tea as she doesn't heal you as writhe on the floor struck by insufferable nether poisons.

Bump and question: Does anyone know the max players in co-op?  Hopefully at least 7...

Well, I dunno about everyone else, but I'd like to jump straight into the game in multiplayer mode.  Just dive headfirst in with a group of 3-6 and blindly delve the caverns.

To anyone who's played the beta: do rare (non-unique) items also have a chance to have the "Kill X of Y to gain new bonuses"? From what I've seen, it's probably just uniques.

I never even SAW that mod on an item. So I'm not sure.

Also while creating a game it did ask me how many players the server would take in the beta, it was 2-10 if I remember right from what I saw. But it's probably gonna drop to 6 max on release. Just seems like the right number.

Hello Torchlight 2 thread. I am bad with computor so I have a question, for the torchlight 2 preorder, it's on my game list in steam and it has an install button. Is that just there as a placeholder, or do I have to "install" it to get the preorder bonus? Like, will that turn into the original torchlight whenever torchlight II comes out or what?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Wait I'm dumb, I'm installing torchlight now, not torchlight II. Nevermind!

EDIT2: Well, I guess, will installing the torchlight 2 pre-order do anything notable or does it just have an install button there because that's how steam works?

You should see this:

If you're able to instal, then go ahead.  If you got TL2 then you've got TL1 for free, and it will instal and play as a normal game.  For me, TL2 isn't available yet, but when it's released it will be installed by Steam.

I see, okay. Thank yah!

EDIT: Oh the install button isn't there anymore. I'm crazy or blind. Huh. Thanks anyway!
