Emperor Syndrome
« on: April 28, 2012, 09:31:03 pm »

Ever since you were just a child, you have noticed something about the people around you. Your friends, family, teachers, everyone. People would occasionally bend to your will, following any order you gave them. It didn't particularly matter what order you gave them, so long as they could accomplish it with the means provided to them, they would always manage to perfectly execute it. It seemed to not be bound to humans alone, as the family dog, stray cats, and even random birds in the street would follow your command as much as possible. Even broken appliances would fix the damage long enough to perform one last action before becoming completely unusable.
In your early life, you found it difficult to manipulate the adults, only occasionally getting them to follow simple orders, but as you grew and became more intelligent, you noticed a change. People became far more willing to follow your orders, to the point where a man went into a coma from being ordered to write a note in a language you forbade him to learn.
This ability, which you now call Emperor Syndrome, has given you a chance. Whether it becomes your blessing to reign supreme, or the curse you use for justice is all dependant on how you use it.

You don't recall ever testing the ES over the phone. You recall a department store nearby having a stock of cheap phone books, so you don't have to risk testing it on anyone you know. Although, you do know the store's number. You could save yourself the time and money by calling the store and testing it on whoever answers the phone.

Command them to tell you if their fridge is running. If they confirm that it is running, command them to review if it has 'run-away'. If they confirm that it is not running, command them to review why it is sleeping.

That should provide sufficient evidence without significant risk of exposing your ability...

You decide not to waste the money on a phone book, and instead decide to call the shop. You sit down in your seat, cross one leg over the other, and dial. It takes five rings for the clerk to answer. It's a woman. You feel a headache developing.
"This is Diane of Thunderberg Goods, how may I help you?"

Just before you can respond, Diane tells you something came up and passes the phone off to another employee.
"Sorry about that, this is Daniel. How may I help you?"
"Do you have Tsar Alexander in a can?"
"Excuse me?"
"Then you'd better go catch him."
The words resonate through your ears, and you feel a sharp pain in your head. You feel a trickling sensation, and discover that your nose is bleeding quite heavily. You hear the phone being dropped before you hang up and wash your face.
No way to know whether it worked or not but to wait. You ponder how to fill the time.

You grab a jacket and go outside. You find a random Joe on the street and tell him to stand in front of your door for exactly five minutes every day at seven in the morning, and continue through the day normally after every session without acting as though anything was done.
"Yes, master!"
You go back home after grabbing a coffee from Buck Stars and start up your computer. You take a quick search over Foofle to find the locations of school for the handicapped in your area. You make a note of the schools that specifically mention the deaf in their descriptions, then call Thunderberg Goods again.
"Hello, this is Diane, how may I he-not again! I'm sorry sir, please wait while I put another employee on the line."
As you are put on wait, a rather enchanting song is played. It takes about four minutes before someone takes you off of hold.
"I'm sorry about that, I'm Brian, how may I help you?"
"Check if your fridge is running."
Your nose begins bleeding again, but you don't care.
"Yes, master!"
Bingo. You wait a few minutes before Brian returns.
"The fridge does appear to be running, master!"
"Confirm if it is running away."
"Yes, master!"
Your nose bleed doesn't intensify, it seems you're grasping the basics.
"Master, I am sorry to confirm that it is not running away!"
"Review why it is sleeping."
"Yes, master!"
With that, Brian hangs up.

Ponder if Diane repeatedly hanging up means anything.
