Meh.  Usually just put Talented swordsman, proficient dodger, and adequate swimmer.  Normally, High strength and agility, above average durability.

When necromancer slabs were added, I took one point away from dodge and put it into reading.

Archer/Thrower.
One point into bowman for arrows.
One into reading so I can be literate.
The rest go into dodging and shield user.

be generic and go all out in a combat skill and fill up str and aglity and i take extra att points and fill up spat sense

Race is dorf usually, human sometimes.
As for the abilities, one level in kicker swimmer and reading, then dodger/wrestler. Also, agility and endurance are priority.

Then i roam the world as a gentlemonk, helping farmer, snapping evil butts and getting pincushioned to death.
