The Planeskippers — Turn .5 (10/8)
« on: April 26, 2012, 09:47:38 pm »

<<insert creative name here>>

Nature abhors utopia.
That is an undeniable truth. There is no such thing as a sustained perfect world; there is nothing that stays perfect forever. The more pure it is, the faster it is corrupted. And so the paradise that was Apollyon became undone, mused he. He looked up at the people in front of him, who he had called, all kneeling in respect. Useless respect, respect that could not save Apollyon now.
"This is the sound of civilization collapsing,", declared the heavenly lord to his most loyal  men and women - not nobles or part of the bureaucracy, but heroes, people with abilities that surpassed most mortals to walk the face of this earth. "My court mages have informed me that the aberrations will enter the Higher Gorge in one notch of the sun, and are entering the Fifth Ordinal Culvert as I speak." His tones were sepulchral, low. "As you might have known, I have been collecting people, subjects. . . " The lord stopped, as the high pitched screech of rock grinding against rock, shearing itself off, resonated throughout the city. . . . Subjects to take the legacy, the name, the soul of my nation to the Other world. But as sure as sheep would starve in a patch of dirt when the green is just a stone's throw away, the foolish people will be unable to find their own way in the proverbial grass in front of them.
From this moment, I hereby appoint one flagship and one portion of the great fleet of Apollyon to each of you. I charge you to take the fleet to the Rift, and create a new haven for the people. I do not expect you to always agree in things, nor do I order you to work together, but I request - not as a ruler - but as another man to you, to always hold the interest of the majority as your most major of priorities, and that while your fellow might be hostile, the Rift is completely unknown.

... Go."

A giant rift floated in the sky. It had a jagged edge, and was surrounded by wooden scaffolding, which was being cleared away swiftly in order to let the fleet pass by. It had been an object of arcane research the past decade or so. Research revealed little about what was on the other side, except that it was almost the same as this one. However, every once in a while, a researcher disappeared, or the terrain shifted, or the temperature swung. But the aberrations appeared, and interest was diverted. Said interest was promptly killed off. 'Killed' in a literal, pointy-object-pierces-flesh-method of 'killing'.

The fleet of the lord was waiting below it, in the city main. It numbered three hundred thirty six, not counting the flagships of the heroes. The ships were of various sizes, but all flew the simple flag of a single purple diagonal on a white background. Purple was the color of the lord. It was an exalted color, but today it seemed to be dim, as if the color knew the deserting of the empire and was ashamed of it.

The scaffolding slowly broke away. . .

This is a forum game. (Pretty obvious, right? >.>)
This is a game about colonizing a new plane. Although I don't know how it will turn out to be, I'm hoping for a balance between roleplaying, strategy, discovery, colonization, overcoming of obstacles . . . [rambles on for an hour] . . . and eventually the death of something.

The character sheet is like thus:

I must mention that I am going to choose character sheets, instead of first-come-first-serve as I did with all of my other games; this is mainly due to two reasons, the first being as an experimental case, the second because I had two people drop out of my other game and wasting two slots >.>Still, as long as you have a decent character sheet, or if I know that you tend to not drop out, it's as good as fcfs. Please don't hate me for this ...

I think I am going to have eight character slots for fleet leaders for now, and if the opportunity arises other slots for other characters.

Anyhow, this is the specifics sheet of the flying fleet:

8 flagships.
  • Rouge Fleur, military/artillery
  • Riftsailer, speed / arcane support
  • Daedalus, speed / protection
  • Dragonfly, frigate (military military)
  • Mephisto, speed/scout
  • Blackhorse, military/speed
  • Liberty's Savior, double protection
  • Apathy's Abearance, artillery/arcane support

112 citizen ships
32 cruisers (high speed military)
8 steamers (high protection transport, steam powered)
32 supply ships (transport transport ships, holds food & water & animals)
8 arcani (high protection arcane support ships)
64 scouts (high speed small ships, can be stowed on other ships)
16 strafers (artillery artillery ships)
24 seeders (specialized farming ships; also hold animals)
24 lumber clippers (construction material-bearing ships, not limited to wood. Also holds tools)
16 ping dynamos (long range scouting / tracking / recon ships; basically scout scout type)

Each player gets an equal share of the fleet.

Okay, off to sleep! I might add some things tomorrow, because I am being coerced to sleeping xD
