So basically wondering what everyone uses, and why? Quick search didn't see this type of question, at least not for some time that I could find, so I figured I'd shoot it out there :p

I started with Phoebus, because it was similar to AoE's look. Then I went to ASCII, but couldn't handle the rectangular tile shapes. So now I currently use the default ASCII, but with graphics mode turned on. Far as I've noticed, the only difference is a colored blob instead of smiley faces, and the tiles are square. What about you?

I use ASCII, though I tend to alternate between the default rectangular font and the default square one.

Ya, that's why I turned graphics mode on in the init. Couldn't stand the rectangle:p Is that basically what yours is, ASCII with the colored blob dwarves, or is it with the smiley faces and square? I like the smileys :p

I've always preferred Guybrush's (and Herrbdog's) non-iconic set (the second one).  It's square, it's simple like the standard curses, but it's more pleasing on my eyes than the standard.

I'm not sure why the poll thinks you can only get square ASCII with graphics on, though.

I prefer a very clean, neat aesthetic with no unnecessary lines. Every tile and graphics set but the ASCII ones have unnecessary lines in vast quantities. They're ugly, and harder to read. I have the graphics mode off, but have my X and Y settings such that the tiles are just off square anyway (I use curses_640x300 with x and y of 640 and 300).

Maybe I should put my magic pixelart skills to use making a tileset... Personally, I prefer to use a graphics pack simply so I can tell the difference between "Giant Donkey" and "Dwarf" without using loo(k), or (v)iew.
