I hate zombies with a passion because you can't even kill them in magma.

But... But why?

They're very killable. And also immortal.

It's two layers of fun in one!

Be happy you didint embark on a river, or you would be facing Zombie Giant Sponges.  They are 100 percent invincible. Normal Giant Sponges can be air-drowned, but zombie ones have no problem screwing up your dorfs on land.

I know about the sponges.

Anyway....there's no hope. My dwarves are too busy running like fuck to do anything. It's only a matter of time before the Thrips kill them all.

How can I check a Dwarves health?

That doesn't let me see their injuries, though

press V and find a dwarf then press Z to see the status screen then H I believe for the health report (if you have a chief medical dwarf assigned) or W to see current injuries.

Tried reclaiming for shits and giggles. I got rid of all items on the embark screen, packed 7 axes, and then gave all 7 reclaiming Dwarves Proficient in Axes and Fighting.

I reclaimed, and then set everyone up in a squad, told them to equip the axes (I THINK....the military screens are a little confusing) and then told them to attack a giant grasshopper zombie.

SO, of course, they just decided to not equip any of the axes and tried to wrestle it.

You can guess how it ended.

Depends on where you go, how badly you prep, and how ineptly you plan your megaproject. I've had forts last five years with no significant dramas. I've had them slaughtered within the first year by rampaging giant keas.

If you want to get wiped out that badly, just embark on a terrifying glacier and hope for the worst.

I embarked on a Terrifying Glacier. Everything's going pretty well, besides the infernal ash killing caravans and a few unhappy dwarves.

Welcome to fun.

Indeed. I'm only embarking on high savagery areas from now on. Gimme some of that challenge!

Don't forget about the underground.  Multiple fronts ratchet up the difficulty exponentially.

Increase value shitloads and dont build any good traps, usually ends up getting good sieges with trolls, titans, dragons and stuff like that. Even though the dragon is dead its fire alone might burn your map for a month.

Always ensure your terrifying embark has at least some non terrifying ground to put your fort/ for your consecrated graveyard.
If you find yoru zombies too tough fun you can change the raws so they respawn monthly rather than weekly which gives your haulers time to remove the battered corpses before they reanimate..
How do I do that?
