Hello all,

Just found this game on Steam: World of Battles. First of all, it's F2P with cash shop, so don't bother if you don't like it.

It has three gameplay elements, very similar to Total War series but online.

Army customisation - You buy army units and equip them here
World map - Similar to Total War world map, this is where clans can attack other clans to fight over territories
Tactical battle - This is where you control your units on a tactical map

I am still going through the videos and downloading the client, so I can't say a lot but the it does interest me. I am wondering if any of you have played it before?

Also one of the playable races is dwarf. *winkwink*

I've started playing it, not sure how long I'll keep playing but it seems fairly interesting and fun, I'd like to see how the world map works since you have to get level 5 or so to unlock that.

How many warlord slots do you get? For instance, can you create a dwarven warlord and a beast folk warlord, or you only have a single warlord slot?

I am interested in dwarf and goblin units.

Goblin Lightning Catchers' special ability: Teleport-switch with another unit (including enemy) instantly. I saw in a video it was used to teleport the most valuable enemy unit into a spot in the middle of your own mass of units, getting the said unit gangbanged at the cost of the Goblin Lightning Catchers unit.

I'm not sure exactly how many armies you can have, but it's at least 2.

I'd be rubbish at this, but free is an attractive price. I liked the unit customization in the trailer.

Anyone know how if this is Pay2Win? First glance at the features seem to suggest it is, and a quick check of their forums tells me "yes," but you know how those other forums are.

Hmmkay, my laptop locked up earlier when I was playing this. Since then I haven't been able to run it from Steam.

I get this when I press play:

Fatal Error
Ini. Failing on char in line1<file: none line: 0><file: none line: 0>

Checked the game caches and found no errors. Also redownloaded the game and still doesn't work. I can't post in their official forum because there is no Register button, heh.

What gives?

EDIT: Sent an email re this issue to their customer support email. Got a response STRAIGHT AWAY.

The file "FBSettings.cfg" in the game folder is corrupted. You need to locate the file, delete it and launch the game again - the file will be downloaded again. Find and delete the file from the following folder:
Steam\steamapps\common\world of battles\release

Putting the solution here in case anyone has the same issue. It works! And I am happy with their quick response!

While I was registering and that teaser video was playing in the corner, I wanted to punch the screen while screaming 'COME ON, REGISTER FASTER!'

Looks insanely fun, even though I'm not usually a fan of this kind of RTSes.

Why is the elf race greyed out? Also the game client is really laggy for me.

The elf race is still being worked on.

The beast race has no warlord option of its own, but any race can buy their units once the player reach certain levels.

The client was laggy as hell because the player base jumped from hundreds online at any given time to 8,000 to 12,000 due to influx of new Steam users.

I am divided between whether this is Pay2Win or not.

You can actually use Master Units as mercenaries using in-game gold, but for every 10 battles they will need to "rest" for 10 battles. If you buy them with real world cash (about $10ish each) you will be able to use them in every matches, so long as the number stays within the constraint given according to your warlord's level.

Rare equipment (premium items), on the other hand, are way better than the normal counterparts.

Also, I must say that gems are so pricey, but probably it's just me. It's $70 for 7000 gems and each Master Unit costs 1000 gems. Rare equipment range from 100 to 300 gems, so far, but I am only level 6.

I must also say that currently there is no other MMORTS like this in the market. Battleforge is the closest in term of gameplay and production quality, but it involves resource gathering (each deployment of card requires resource points), so it's not as fast-paced as this game.

If we had something like this set in Warhammer 40k, that'd be awesome.
