I may had just found something interesting.

Since migrants come from world-gen now, what would happen if we added [CIV_PLAYABLE] and played as goblins/kobolds? Would be get thieves and babysnatcher migrants? Different species migrating? Anyone tried this before?

I think someone was trying to get adventurer-thieves, don't think it was completed though. Science away.

its hard to tell.  many of my migrants seem to be pulled from bandit and sewer-dwelling criminal populations.  i suspect that if they are thieves/snatchers, they adopt another job during migration.

I would assume not because they are not part of your parent civ... Curious though. you could always add a goblin caste to dwarves (if that's possible?). Interesting idea though.

yes, they are part of the parent civ. 

and yes, you can add a goblin caste to dwarves.  it is an abomination.

What he meant was adding the [CIV_PLAYABLE] tag, which is what allows you to play as dwarves, to goblins, and then goblins would be the parent civ.

Nope. So far as I can tell, through modding experience, you will ONLY get migrants from the race outlined in the ENTITY entry in the raws.

This was asked in the Future of the Fortress thread, and ToadyOne said that you cannot have mix race forts at this time.

The day is now. I made this way back in 31.25, so it will need to be updated.

EDIT: Updated it a bit for 34.07. Not sure if it's fully updated, though.

i wonder if you define multiple races like in animal men what will happen if say your main race is batmen but the civ has a pop of ant men

Each individual entity spawned in the world will pick randomly from the list of creatures. Whichever race the entity you are playing as has chosen, those will be your migrants.
