I assumed that babysnatcher and thief were job titles given in the same way as nobles and military have them assigned rather than them being inherant to the creature's description, and if they turned up in your migrant wave they won't come with it. You may well get histortical figures with thief and snacher stats, but I'd be surprised if they can retain the job title.

Now, now, there's nothing wrong with elves physically speaking. In fact, they're clearly better at living above-ground than dwarves are. The problem lies within their mentality, which by nature sets them apart as a lesser race. However, once integrated into dwarven or even human society, they take on the cultural attributes thereof, and become not only tolerable, but even endearing to their adopted civilization. It is for this reason that I shall undergo research into accepting the elves as the surface guardians of my future fortresses.

But what if you added [CREATURE:GOBLIN] to the MOUNTAIN entity? Then would you get greenskins in your civ?

You seem to be under the impression that we're playing some game other than dwarf fortress. It doesn't matter how powerful you make a creature, we will find a way to destroy it. God is dead, and Urist killed him.

I hope we can get mixed-race forts one day, I'd love to do a Dwarf-Human-Elf fortress (fuck Goblins).

BURN HIM!

You must have misunderstood him.  A fortess that has elves in it would be a wonderful thing.  It would grant you expendable slaves valuble workers to do all of dangerous noble tasks that dwarves cannot, such as exposed, above ground farming, cavern exploration, and cannon fodder frontline soldiers for invasions.

If done after world generation, it would have no effect. If done before world generation then every "civilization" (such that you can choose on the embark screen) will either be all goblins or all dwarves. The one that you chose as your home civ will then determine whether you embark with 7 dwarves or 7 goblins, and will determine the species of all incoming migrants.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

i think the problem is that "babysnatcher" and "thief" are not tied to skills.  i'd love for them to be playable and have the ability to be sent oujt once the army arc is underway.

Only useful after you pry the wooden pokeysticks out of their effeminate fingers.

Even then, you have to dress them in candyfloss, because they are so wimpy they cant handle steel. (This is a joke.)
