We blasted past $50k in 48 hrs on Kickstarter and only 2/3rd of that is from previous backers, so we are very happy. We've suddenly got a lot of attention on us and it's creating a lot of opportunities for the studio. It's an exciting time for us and in turn it's only going to make the game even better. Thanks to those of you who have been positive about the game and those of usfrom B12 that are involved.

I was skeptical at first, but I finely bit the bullet. Good luck guys! I look forward to the Bay12 coalition.

Awesome! 60k already, meaning 80%! It seems like NOW you might actually go past the original 200k goal!

Thanks Orb! I'll do what I can to get you into the alpha as soon as the kickstarter ends.

Anvil, we might raise a bunch over the goal and that is great, but the best part is that all of this attention has given us some awesome opportunities behind the scenes and we have some very cool stuff coming up soon. We can't talk about it yet but it's HUGE news and we feel lucky.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

An update for those of you interested in the project:

We are about to break $200k raised and will most likely finish between $240-260k but with a chance for $300k if we get some last minute press. 9 days left.

You may have seen our ads on Rock Paper Shotgun or PCGamer, Kicktraq and soon Strategy Informer.

We have had coverage from most of the game sites, with the exception of Rock Paper Shotgun(No idea why) and have a major article by Bill Murphy of MMORPG on Monday. All coverage/previews have been raving positive.

The core game is 90% done, but we have hot a bunch of stretch goals that ad new content and features that need to be added. Our backers at the $75 tier and above will join our private testers shortly after the kickstarter.

We were accepted onto Steam, bypassing the usual requirement of Greenlight. Our current plan is to sell Early Access in Feb/March but this may change.

We have a grand vision for the game and are talking to players in the industry who share our vision and may be able to help us achieve it. This game really is going to be big!

Thank you to those who have supported us!

Congrats ! I can't remember when was the last time i was excited for an RTS to come out (starcraft 2 was kind of a letdown). Will buy it via steam, whenever it will become available.

Btw, kickstarter link in the OP still leads to an old kickstarter.

I have a few questions regarding the economy and how advanced it will be.

- Can we make civilian goods or is it just military goods?
- Will planets need goods like food, clothes, luxuries, narcotics, medicine and so on to function or grow at all?
- Can we mine and farm various plants and minerals and metal, or is it just called "Food" and "Minerals"?
- Will the prices of the goods be decided by the planets demand and supply or the players?

Anyway, I have put the Kickstarter page on reminder and will take a look at it again in a few days, and decide if its worth my 75 $. Hope you manage to get more money even if I don't find it interesting enough, cheers!

Good thing I still have this topic in my browser history. Red font inside the quote for my answer

I have a few questions regarding the economy and how advanced it will be.

- Can we make civilian goods or is it just military goods?
Currently the kind of things you will be able to produce and distribute/trade are:
Common, Uncommon, and Rare resources which are used by factories for production
Crafting resources will have a more specific name and are ingredients for crafting bonuses that are applies to factory produced components
Components are currently military only, weapons, engines, shields, bays, and utilities
Ship assembly will require both components and additional resources to assemble the full ship
Supplies are a generic resource that is consumed by units when they activate abilities, like firing or turning a shield on or boosting an engine for a moment.

- Will planets need goods like food, clothes, luxuries, narcotics, medicine and so on to function or grow at all?
The planet type and size will be one way that population growth will be calculated. It is currently unplanned to do as much depth as games like Victoria II, but if we figure out a way to do something like consumer goods cheap and efficiently enough it'll eventually find its way in. Small dev team and all. =P
- Can we mine and farm various plants and minerals and metal, or is it just called "Food" and "Minerals"?
Aside form generic common, uncommon, and rare materials more unique crafting resources can be generated. THis is the passive resource generation.
Active resourcing will involve salvaging ship hulks, mining asteroids, and searching ruins and such.

- Will the prices of the goods be decided by the planets demand and supply or the players?
Prices are completely determines by the player, if you want to pay a high price you can, or you can find a player who has little awareness of market supply and demand and get a good deal out of them.
Making balanced and fair trade will help build trust between your neighbors since you cannot ally everyone you meet.

Anyway, I have put the Kickstarter page on reminder and will take a look at it again in a few days, and decide if its worth my 75 $. Hope you manage to get more money even if I don't find it interesting enough, cheers!
Hope those answers helped.

Edit:
also steam early access will be out in a few months (I don't know the exact date but it was 6 or so months when we started kickstarter)

Just 5 days left to back us on Kickstarter or Paypal! We are at 250% funded and are hoping to reach 300% yet. We continue to unlock stretch goals and add new features to the game. We've had good luck with press coverage and some small ads here and there.

Once again, thank you to those of you who have supported myself and the others involved in this project. Your friendship won't be forgotten!
