I usually use iron lonwswords, but I prefer my modded fighting pick now. Probably the most OP melee weapon I've ever devised (contact area of a monomolecular slicing knife for the spike) and even silver, the worst weapon material, can punch holes right through iron helmets. Several goblins learned this the hard way.

If this is your opinion, you haven't swung around a blunt weapon made out of silver.

That's my opinion on it as a choppy weapon. I understand it is the most damaging blunt material, but I prefer their weapon hands to no longer be attached to the owner.

Yes, it is fairly annoying to start ouple times in row with a silver short sword.

On the plus side, if you whack a goblin in the chest with it you might break something.

I'm thinking of doing this in adventurer mode for shits and giggles:

An adventurerer that carries a few logs around with him and throws them at enemies to kill via caber tossing.  Maybe hold some of those logs in his hand to bludgeon anything that gets too close.  Though to get the logs I'd either have to start in dorf mode, make a small fort near on of the human towns and chop down all the trees and abandon, or see if I can do it in Wanderer's Friend.

Sounds like a great idea! (Also thank you for reminding me of the name of that mod.)
Barrels are pretty good objects to toss at people. And you can store your food and drink them too!

I always go for halberd. Once you cleanly sever a full night creature family in half almost instantly, you tend to cling onto that weapon.

Mine is the legendary ☼White Stork Bone Bow☼, made from the bones of my greatest adversary and slayer of my previous adventurer.  In my opinion, there's nothing more satisfying than avenging the death of a previous adventurer and then turning their killer's bones into a masterwork weapon, via the Wanderer's Friend mod.

Anyone who dares say that a stork hardly makes for a challenging adversary has never seen one up close.  To this day, I'm still haunted by memories of their horrible, horrible bills... *shudder*
