...why? We were able to engage in trade perfectly well before we designated builders. Why now that we've designated builders are we unable to engage in trade unless we have the five designated builders do it?

Why are the people we specifically set aside for construction tasks suddenly now doing trading?

Why was he stealing food? We've gone to considerable lengths to have a food surplus, we have a food surplus, we specifically set aside food to be available in case of shortages, we specifically established that if there were food shortages we were going give food to the peasants, and we're already giving away 10% of our food income to host feasts and parties to create an environment of abundance and prosperity.

Why are these people stealing food?

Is this not one of our peasants? Is this a peasant from the city where they had a bad harvest?

If he's not one of ours, feed him, ask him to swear on oath of loyalty and put him to work. We need more villagers anyway.

If he is one of ours, we need to know why he was stealing food. Ask him.

You wanted to sell of your food surplus quickly, so I assumed that you wanted your servants to try to sell it. If I was wrong, I am sorry but that was how I interpreted it.

send the messages to the other lords for the "hunting party" and since these things take time we can work on getting more info while we wait.

as for the peasant take a finger not an arm. taking the arm would just keep him from helping in the fields using a hoe 1 handed is pretty pointless. while the figner gets our point across and he still useful. all this is for if we going to cut him to begin with though. i do approve of finding out his reason and whether he one of ours.

We don't take his arm, yet. We only promise to do it if he steals again
and if he is not our peasant showing mercy is even better, he will come back home ant tell about merciful baronet


We need some way to repair our relations with church, any ideas?

wouldn't it be better to be the guy burning heretics then being burnt as one? Besides if the church is as powerful as it was historically we will need them as our ally to get to any signifcant position.

It is still summer!

You are quite disturbed by the bandits upstream. You decide to send a letter to the nightboring nobles. To your suprise, most of them answear quickly, and you have three nobles and their armies to your disposal:

Sir Gildor: Squire from the biggest vassal in the area. He arrives with 8 spearmen.

Sir Grimgorg: A small barionett in the area. Arrives with his Squire and two welltrained spearmen.

Sir Deadrikr: Your closest neighbourhood; Arrives with three archers.

So in total you have:
15 spearmen (2 well trained)
5 Knights.
3 archers.
Your captain have interrogated the thief, and you understand that he is not from the town. He is probaly from one of the other vassals in the area, who had a bad luck on the harvest.  How do you wanīt to punish him?


You recruit 3 pages. It cost you in total 30 goldcoins every year, since you are obliged to pay for there education. You also want to install a Squire. You search for suitable candidates, and you found two which might accept your low status and still have a political value.

You could either take Sir Sarvaldīs youngest cousin. This might rise your political values quite a bit, since he is the biggest Baronet in the area. And Sarvald will be able to afford the armour and weapons for the Squire.

Or you could take Dreadrikrīs brother. Dreadrikr is quite small though, and you will have to help him pay his brother armour. However, he will be forever grateful and you will get a loyal but not as powerful ally.


Sir Reginald Dumac

Title: Baronet (Obliged to serve Baron Amroth Elnesar, and join his call of arms)
Ownings: A large house in Fuerza, a horse and battle equipment worthy of a knight. 250 gold coins.  Five servants (Skilled builders).
Reputation: Fair against peasants. (Very local)
Military strength: Yourself,  five spearmen units.   

Fuerza

Your yearly yield: 110 goldcoins (from trade and the inn), food (280 goldcoins if sold at a optimal price)  Beer. (10 goldcoins if sold at optimal price.)
Notable buildings:
Church (Represent the religions interests in the area.)
Granary (250 storage, the villagers will store food them self, and handle a bad harvest year without your intervention. )
Water mill
Dock
Inn
Other: Pays one tenth of its total income to the church, and one tenth to Amroth Elnesar.
Priest happiness: Unhappy
People happiness: Happy

Get Dreadrikr's brother ( tell us his name ).  We will find a way to rise politically, better to have a loyal dog than a backstabbing snake. 

The thief should be let off with a very stern warning, with a threat of death in case he ever steals next time.  Figure out where he lives, and make sure he knows that.

Send the archers to scout the bandit hideout.  WE NEED MOAR INFORMATION.

Did they already arrive, or did they just agree to come with us if we decide to attack the bandits.

If they already arrived, we cannot back away. We'll need to send an expedition to kill them. First we should of course discuss the situation with them. Sending scouts is a good idea.

If not, propose that everyone will agree to help the other when the bandits strike.

I think we should hand over the thief to the noble whose land he comes from. Though that might offend him. Your suggestion might be better.

Also +1 to whoever said to attend a service of the religion. Find out what they're about and put in some face time.

Don't make descisions about the bandit war whitout consulting the other nobles though. We don't want to offend them, even if they are useless(which I doubt).
