Brewer, water was as dirty as shit and booze back then was less for getting drunk more for having something safe to drink.

Well, not really, since beer/alhokol generally is dehydrating. One of the reasons we have what you usually refer as a hangover.

Regarding your people skills. Most of your peasants know the basics of pottery/smiting/crafting. But your (and all the other) villages are very unspecialised and therefore ineffective.

I believe that ebbor is correct. Water was very dirty way back when, and the brewing process tended to reduce the pathogens and bacteria present. People would drink alcohol as a safer alternative to water.

Yeah, the word you're looking for is "small beer". That's beer with about a 1%-2% alcohol content. Just enough to reduce bacteria content a little. This is what most people in western Europe drank throughout the middle ages instead of water. Mainly because at the time people considered a river as a convenient sewer/rubbish tip. This is also why, for a large portion of history, us Europeans have been drunk of our collective arses, a trend that continues to this day.

Basically, +1 for a brewer.

Isn't boiling also a part of the brewing process? That would reduce the bacteria content significantly.

I also vote we contact nearby villages and tell them they can mill their harvest here in exhange for maybe 1/20 of their harvest.
Also, since it's Winter now I think we can let our peasent do more , since they don't need to work on the field.

Things to build:
Dock
Brewery
Inn
Kiln
Pallisade

Not to mention alchol is addictive, so where as a man who buys a pot once doesn't necesserily have to buy one again, a man who buys enough drinks has to keep on buying them.

BTW I was looking through the history of beer on wikipedia and look at this "The Finnish epic Kalevala, collected in written form in the 19th century but based on oral traditions many centuries old, devotes more lines to the origin of beer and brewing than it does to the origin of mankind.".

Also by the way, Evil Marahadja is right when you drink beer it dehydrates you, thanks to the Alchol. Mainly because it causes you to urinate more. You have to drink water in order to counter-act the dehydration caused by the beer. So our peasents will still have to drink water, but at least they will be more happy. Maybe we can even compensate them with beer for some of the jobs they do?

I believe the answer to the question is yes. Also good idea for the milling. And +1 to the build order. If it is winter now lets just give the peasents 1/2 of what they normally would get, again fair since they do nothing else in winter.

Beer of that alchol content is actually not dehydrating. Normall beer today has 5% alchol content, which is enough to make you urininate out more water then you drank with the beer. "Small Beer" would be as safe as brewing regular beer, ie both have as little germs and other pathogens, which means we can use it as a water source.

Good point, however potter as a secondary objective.
Yes since you can improve so much on basic pottery, by improving quallity, it would be a good mid-game industry. Brewing can be started up faster, but is less profitable during the median term. Its in between simple industries like brewing and more advanced ones like weapons.

You decide to recruit Khalor, the priest, who complained fierily, told you that you shouldn't anger the gods, nor the priesthood. You are a bit worried, because his words are true. If you make the church your enemy, you will face a lot of obstacles on your way to power. However, it might have been worth the cost. Khalor turned out to be an excellent trainer, and within a few month your soldiers is no longer a simple militia, but fulltrained, although green spearmen. Khalor approach you, and tells you that its hard to train these men any further unless they see some real action.

It is now winter. The darkest and coldest period of the year. With only a few hours of sunlight, its hard to do any work at all. Mostly the peasants stay inside and repair any damaged equipment they have. You, on the other hand have your hands full. You have heard that your baron, Amroth will visit you next spring. You have a lot to prepare, depending on what action you want to take.

Your servants have also worked hard. They hired some expertise and builds a fine dock able to hold a few larger ships. A few of your men started to crate some simple fishing boats, and your food production increased slightly. The brewer who decided to live in your estate, asks if you want the taxes in beer, or in money, if you choose the former you will goods worth more than if you choose the latter, however you will need to sell it if you want to convert the beer into coins. He builds his own brewery, so you wont need to build one yourself.

Sir Reginald Dumac

Title: Baronet (Obliged to serve Baron Amroth Elnesar, and join his call of arms)
Ownings: A large house in Fuerza, a horse and battle equipment worthy of a knight. 75 gold coins. Food worth 250 coins.
Servants: Five builders. A infantry trainer (Khalor)
Reputation: Fair against peasants (Very local)
Military strength: Yourself,  five spearmen.

Fuerza

Your yearly yield: 100 goldcoins (from trade), food (270 goldcoins if sold at a optimal price)
Notable buildings:
Church (Represent the religions interests in the area.)
Granary (250 storage, the villagers will store food them self, and handle a bad harvest year without your intervention. )
Water mill
Brewery
Dock (Will increase your tradetaxation as your reputation grow)
Other: Pays one tenth of its total income to the church, and one tenth to Amroth Elnesar.
Priest happiness: Unhappy
People happiness: Quite Happy

Prepare a might celebration for the arrival of our liege! Let there be pie eating! And drinking of delicious beer! We need bear baiting and trials of strength and a feast. Maybe that thing from that Three Musketeers movie made in the 60's where there's a greased up balance-beam type thing with a ham in the middle and two peasant have to try to reach it. Let there be unreasonably-tight-corset-wearing-wenches music and dancing!

Basically, throw the biggest party we can for when the Baron arrives. The feudal system is all about sucking up to your liege until you're ready to denounce him as a traitor to the King and usurp his position.

Have that food shipped out and sold by one of our trusted servents.

Use the proceeds to pay for this. Make sure to show our liege our new dock and granary and explain to him how we will both profit from these trade increasing endeavors.

Have the spearmen go catch a bear for baiting? And a boar for feasting?

May I also suggest encouraging all the peasants to do some sort of martial practice? Maybe a regular archery or sparring competition? They'll then do it in their free time and they'll be slowly training in case we need to levy them. Of course, we'll need to provide a prize for the winner, and possibly bows for them. Although if it's just a competition they should be able to provide their own.

They have to seed now. At this moment they don't have free time.

Have the priest have a say in the festivities. That should make them happy.
