Ask some of the peasants how much they usually need for winter, then save that and then 50% more. The rest I thnk is safe to spend.

Since you have a communal granary, the peasants have stored food themself. Your personal storage can be used however you want to!

Well then, save enough for our household's needs plus 50% then, in my opinion.

I don't have the smarts for this whole food management business, so +1.

It is now spring! Its now been a whole year since you first arrived at your estate. And you are quite happy with your accomplishments.

Your main for the season was absolutely the arrival of Amroth Elnesar. In the meantime, you managed to get some information about Amroth. Aperently, he is not the smartest crayon in the box, but not the dumbest either. He is a good fighter, almost par with you. He is also one of the richer barons in the county.

Which is quite bad for you actually, since Amroths relation with his vassals are rather bad. Especially with you, after your victorious battle against the rebels a few years ago, he seemed to dislike you even more. You are not sure why, but you have heard that you gained the honor of leading the battle instead of one of his nephews.
You have also started to build an in in your town! Here the townfolks will meet, and from time to time travellers will come there and gain you a few coins in taxes. This will increase as the settlement becomes more popular.

A few days into april, Amroth finally arrives. He has an escort of five knights and a few servants. He rides on a fine warhorse and as he rides into the estate he seems quite unimpressed.
”I see that you have done a few improvements” His voice is indiffirent and you are getting worried this wont end as well as you hoped to do.

But never the less there was a great feast to Elnesars honour. Your servants served the most delicious food that your peasants were able to cook. There was several martial arts competitions, although no one made a real impression, there is bound to be some talented fighter in your population though, if you continue with the feasts, even in a smaller scale, you will surely find them.  Elnesar was content with the feast, witch is a disappointment considering the amount of food you spended. Elnesar seems hard to impress, you might have to deal with him in a different way in the future, or he will be a problem in your quest for power.   Luckily the hunt went better, you was able catch one large bear and a deer aswell. Both was eaten during the festival with great rejoice.

After a few days, Amroth decided it was time for him to leave, you have probaly risen slighty in his eyes, but your relation is still very cold. This is a bad thing, since you will need his recommendation to advance in title, or marry a woman with the title you desire (But that is a hard route as well).

”So, Sir Reginald Dumac, is there anything you want to discuss before I take my leave?” This is your chance to discuss anything appropriate, however, be careful to make any large demands, since that would lower your relations even further.

So our Baron dislike us? It's his problem... We should build an army, find some allies and kick his ass

I dont think we should demand anything of the good baron.

Praise him for allowing you to bask in his glory and perhaps angle for an invitation to a feast/party thrown by the baron. to show us what a 'proper' feast looks like. if the bearfur was properly preserved we could offer it to him as a gift and memento to the event.

This! Also, try to learn what this guy likes so we can kiss up to him better more in the future.

If this religion allows sacrifices, eventually we can just organize a big sacrifice fest.

If not we can tell the priests that for now we are concentrating on improving the economic conditions of the area. Once economic conditions improve this town will have the resources to build a grand cathedral to honor the Gods!

+1, the more connections we have the better.

also, how might we appease the priesthood?
We could build a small shrine/church. I don't think we have one and it would have a lot of advantages. On the religious note, nothing specific about the priests religion has been stated, so I'd like to suggest a faith based around the eternal struggle between a being of pure light and good and one of pure darkness and evil (basically Zoroastrianism without the time limits). As a symbol, a half dark materiel half light-material wheel and a general emphasis on clockwise spirals. As a ridiculous proscription, all anticlockwise spirals are forbidden, as they represent a desire to go against the natural order and seize the power of the almighty for one's self. Finally, as holidays, I suggest the spring and autumn equinoxes (when day and night are the same length), perhaps celebrated by passion-play style acting outs of great moments in the endless struggle. And cheese rolling, to remind the good believers that all is bound to the great wheel.

EDIT: Gah! Ninja Strike! I agree that a mighty temple/cathedral would be a nice long term goal.

or maybe Valve goes out of business because they invested too heavily in something which then fails - like, say, human civilization.
Alternatively, initiate strife to refuse additional baked goods, and then abscond.

maybe we could offer him a seat of honor at our feasts whenever we have another( unless his religious includes a vow of poverty or something similar.)
