(Oh. My. God. That was a desperate ploy and it worked out beautifully. If PotL had worse luck with that bomb I may very well have gotten first. Thank you, Monk, I've never been this exited about a RTD game.)

Second place. From last to second place. As Captain Falcon pulled into the pits he released the death grip on his steering wheel and sunk into the kart's seat with a sigh of relief. While first had been out of his grasp, second place was still good enough for someone considered to be over the hill. But he couldn't rest now, he had fans to greet.

(OOC: To be fair my pogo-ing between spots was hilarious.

Start 1st! Fall back to fourth! Back to 1st! Roll all 1's and 2's in the last turn and back to third!)

Oomph puttered into third, annoyed at having not won...but at least he beat that dratted Mario.

Revenge was bitter, but it was his all the same. And, at least he got a spot on the podium, right? It might take some more Oomph Charm, but he might still get some Hammer Time tonight with the sisters...

Oomph, being supernaturally fearless from lack of intelligence, considered this the best of all possible outcomes.

If I could add a suggestion with all the hiccups, maybe have 1 or more hiccups removed for free between seasons from sponsors/racers working on their cars in the down time? Also voting grimtoad, dang those 3 shells where awesome, even if they did miss everything.

Shy Guy jumped up and down in it's seat. The race was over, the competition now beat.

The race, though long and rough, was filled with fun and hilarious enough.

But through it's mask, Shy Guy knew, it's turn has come up, this was his cue!

Yet before all that, it had to make, a deal with the contractors. "For goodness sakes!"

((Amazing race!))

Kirby goes and gives Grimtoad a hug and a vote. Love is as important as winning, right?

Bill walks out of the stadium "Fifth isn't that bad... Right?". then, he looked around the crowd surrounding the stadium. Is there anyone he knew? Did his plan work?

I hope to race against him some day, it shall be an easy win for me, so I shall give him my fan favourite vote!  And now I, the great Wind Mage, must prepare for my own race..."

Could I have a new character?
Character-Pikachu
Kart bonus-speedy(3 coins)
image- http://www.dltk-kids.com/pokemon/adoptions/pikachu.gif (resize as you need)

Also, I have a track design
Mt. Silver-

A racetrack that goes up a mountain, can be a very tricky course at times
Green-race start, all uphill, has one turn towards the end, where there is one row of item boxes. This section grants +1 to a power slide
Orange-summit of the track. This section is uphill untill the second turn, when there's a gentle decline. The two turns need a +1 in race check to properly navigate it. There is a row of item boxes at the top.
Red- The longest portion of the track, all downhill, most noticable for the sharp turn(of which there's no guardrail), which while dangerous offers a +1 drifting bonus. Be careful as falling boulders consitute a hazard of +1, while guardrail-less turn adds another 1, giving the section a total hazard of 2.
Blue- This portion splits between downhill and uphill(after the hairpin) and the hairpin which offers a +2 drifting bonus

Crank stands with the crowd and applauds.  That was a hell of a race, and some serious competition at the end.  It was educational to watch the other racers, and now he knew three of the other five drivers that he'd be facing in a couple weeks.

His phone rings.

"Crank here... Yeah, hell of a race, wasn't it?  Yes, I'll be ready for the Star Cup.  See you there!"

His Nookington rep checking in on him.  He headed out of the box to go mingle with the racing crowd.  Perhaps he could learn more about that mysterious fellow?

A shadowy figure stands at the edge of the race track, smoking a cigar and watching the post-race festivities from afar. He adjusts his sunglasses and steps further out from the concessions area behind the bleachers, his orange and yellow tux and massive bling shining brilliantly in the searing sunlight at Yoshi Falls. He takes yet another drag on the cigar before putting it out in the drink of a passing spectator.

Hello Racing Fans, and welcome to this special postgame edition of the Mushroom Sports Network, presented by Nightmare Enterprises! Reporting live from lovely Yoshi Island, I'm Jim!
And I'm Bob!
And we're the Lakitu brothers!
That was one heck of a race, wasn't it Bob?
Sure was, Jim! Lots of action, a close finish, and many exciting crashes!
That's right, Bob- the dangerous cliff sank the hopes of both Counselor Grimtoad and Bill Ryzer, while the abundant bananas, Bob-ombs, and crowd favorite Blue Shell combined for an astounding 5 Hiccups!
Grimtoad certainly caught the worst of it, and rumor out of HFS Inc is that Riras Nod is most displeased with the Counselor's performance today.
He may be pleased to hear, then, that Counselor Grimtoad is an early favorite for Driver of the Week- send in your votes racing fans!
He's not the only unhappy Sponsor, Jim- Silph Co's CEO is less than amused by Mario's poor start, and although the plucky plumber climbed the ladder he was destined to fall out of the top three at the very end of the race.
A disappointing showing to be sure, Bob. Perhaps the only driver more disappointed would be Bill Ryzer- a string of misfortunes conspired to keep him in the lower half of this race.
Let's not forget Oomph the Koopa, who despite an overall dominating performance was pulled out of the Star Cup by a last minute surge from the back of the pack.
That's right, Bob- who could forget the herculean effort turned in by F-Zero veteran Captain Falcon! After a rough start and some obvious unfamiliarity with the Kart and the course, he managed to charge into the money spot from the very back of the pack!
Indeed, Jim- perhaps most impressive is that the Mysterious Mr. L managed to hold off Falcon as well as Mario and Oomph for the win, especially given the number of lead changes today! It was a tight group at the end there, but his wise decision to avoid the Bananas went a great way to securing his spot in the Star Cup.
With that win, he figures to be the hottest commodity on the MKL circuit in the coming week- we've already heard that today's sponsor, Nightmare Enterprises, is interested in tendering him a Sponsorship offer.
We'll be following that story and more all this week, here on MSN!

WEEK THREE
Nookington's Department Store +4 Coin
Silph Co +2 Coin
Nightmare Enterprises +2 Coin
All other sponsors- +1 Coin
Mysterious Mr. L +3 Coin, +2 Fame, +9 Points

Oomph +1 Coin, +5 Points

Pikachu
Module Benefit- Speedy
Module Hiccup- Rubber Band Back

Rubber Band Back imposes a -1 Penalty to Pull Ahead checks. Welcome to the party, wsoxfan- if you don't like how that Pikachu shrunk, I can try for just a square cutout of his face (similar to what I did for Phantom of the Library, or what freeformscholar did for himself) or we can try again with a different image. Your first race will be the first race of Season 2.

I also like the Mt. Silver design- there's a few tweaks I'll be making to it, but the overall layout and feel is good.

Am I allowed to cancel sponsorships?

You are, especially given the lack of any such provision in the contract. Note that if Grimtoad wins Driver of the Week, then his bump in Fame will translate into a Prestige bump for you- whether that's worth the repairs he obviously needs is up to you.

And that was some bad luck in the last few turns. Should have taken more risks.

Also, what happened to the Bo-ombs, can't find any mention of them. (One was hit by the red shell, but what with the other).

They both ended up on the inside track, where basically nobody was. Yours missed MML but ultimately spun out Grimtoad one last time.

Wow this race was a bloodbath. Five hiccups? I have a feeling that next season there could be plenty of bounty hunters. Perhaps you should hold a "Last chance" race after the star cup without rules to increase the carnage... (And have a podium finish in that include fixing the kart's associated hiccups.)

Also, using a dragged item to deflect a bob-omb doesn't seem the most logical thing ever. Just saying.

Don't you mean using a dragged bob-omb to deflect an item? Just going by the game, either way.

I'd do more, but I"m pressed for time, so I'll get on the NPC sponsors in a day or two. Expect this metagame phase to go ~4-5 days as a result.

Grimtoad has 3 votes for Driver of the Week.
