Nothing like three green shells missing everyone and everything.

(I just realized the colour of the position indicators corresponds to what section of the track the racers are on.  Herp derp.)

Despite the incredible luck of avoiding the green and blue shells, a bomb directly to his kart caused Captain Falcon to spin out, and the lead he had maintained was now gone, the kart looked wrecked and the compensator working full time. His previous confident smile made way for a serious grimace, and now he had something to prove.

Mr. L laughed with glee as he passed everyone ahead of them and made a L with his fingers as he went into the next turn And that's how the Mysterious Mr. L STRIKES LIKE LIGHNING! WAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Drive Defensively along the outer curve and get one of those Item Boxes!

:\

...

Green shells aren't very good, I guess. Anyways, assuming FFS isn't back yet, Counselor Grimtoad drives aggressively for the item boxes on the outside curve.

I'm back. I just need a little bit to catch up everything I missed. Good to be in third place again though.

Green shells aren't very good, I guess. Anyways, assuming FFS isn't back yet, Counselor Grimtoad drives aggressively for the item boxes on the out side curve.

And yeah, this.

If you can hit your initial target, they're good.  I nailed Harkinian with one in the first race.

Yoshi Falls- Turn Nine

1st      2nd      3rd      4th      5th     6th
Action Phase

The Mysterious Mr. L heads along the outside path, Driving Defensively to enhance his chances of getting an Item Box!

Powerslide , outer curve. Go for the Item boxes.

Mario attempts to Powerslide around the outside curve, [1] but holds the drift too long, slamming into the fence and losing ONE Momentum! He drives off toward the Item Boxes!

Counselor Grimtoad drives aggressively for the item boxes on the outside curve.

Counselor Grimtoad lays on the gas, [3] but his poor racing line means he doesn't make up any ground! He takes a -1 Penalty to Hazard Checks!

Action: Inside Track! Aggressive!

[6] Oomph knows he has to make up ground quick, and bolts onto the inside track! His super aggressive line is mere feet from the cliff edge, giving him THREE Momentum and a -1 Penalty to Hazard Checks!

Agressive Driving, inside track

[3] Captain falcon attempts to duplicate Oomph's maneuver, but the strange new vibrations from the suddenly active Compensator throw him off, and he doesn't gain much speed! He takes a -1 Penalty to Hazard Checks!

Bill drove aggresively, there was no time for hesitance.

[6] Billy Ryzer has a lot of ground to make up, and he pushes the Spreadshot to its limits, picking up THREE Momentum and taking a -1 Penalty to Hazard Checks!

1st      2nd      3rd      4th      5th     6th
Movement Phase

The Mysterious Mr. L is driving defensively, and so does not attempt to Pull Ahead!

Mario is behind MML on the outer curve, but lacks the Momentum to attempt a pass!

Counselor Grimtoad is right on Mario's butt, just too far back for a pass!

Oomph cuts inside, hitting the Dash Panel for ONE Momentum! The boost launches him into the river, [5]+2-1 and he easily slices through the water! He's right in the mix with Grimtoad and mario!

Captain Falcon follows Oomph inside, gaining ONE Momentum on the Dash Panel that launches him into the swift current, [4]+2-1 a hazard that is no problem for the great Captain Falcon! He still finds himself falling behind, however!

In RED, Bill Ryzer takes what he thinks is the safe outer path, and is surprised to find scorch marks surrounded by unfortunately spaced Bananas! [4]+1 He evades the unexpected Hazard, however, and his smooth driving allows him the opportunity to PULL AHEAD! [5] HE SUCCEEDS, losing FOUR Momentum and racing forward through the safe outer lane of PURPLE and coming up on the back of the pack!

Cleanup Phase

The Mysterious Mr. L lines up on one of the few Item Boxes, [1]+2+1 and only his conservative racing line lets him nick one! [5] He receives a BLOOPER for his trouble!

Mario skids toward the left-most Item Box, [6]+2 plowing directly through it! [6]+1+1 He picks up an opportune RED SHELL!

Counselor Grimtoad goes for the last Item Box, [2]+2-1 and misses! *gasp*

Bill Ryzer is overjoyed at Grimtoad's failure, [1]+2-1 and is so busy celebrating he becomes careless, and misses the Item Box himself! Surely this back-to-back wiffing will be a high finisher in MSN's Not Top Ten!

Yeah, the Green Shells were a bit underwhelming. I think in future races, they won't get the extra -1 to other drivers from aiming; let's face it, everyone is going to be aiming when they launch those things. And now that I look at it, Bob-ombs should be higher up than they are- the fiddling continues.

"I can't believe it. Back then, I could hit one of those damn aliens from a mile away. Now, I can't even guide a car into a box." Bill said. He drove into the inner curve, trying again for the item boxes.

The Koopa pushed his kart to the limit...

"Oomph not give up!"

Action: Inside Ring, defensive driving, try to snag up an item box.

Captain Falcon gives his vehicle the best mechanical treatment he could, by kicking the kart in the panel. He was NOT about to be showed up.

*inside lane, draft, get an item box*

Counselor Grimtoad takes the outer track and attempts to PULL AHEAD!

((Are the bananas still there? If not, I'd go outside.))

Yes, there are currently Banana Hazards on the outside of BLUE and RED. Info on those hazards is recorded in the Course Info spoiler.

Note that you can't Pull Ahead from third place, and you currently don't have enough Momentum to pass Mario (though MML currently faces a threat from both the water hazard and the likelyhood of being Red Shell'd on the inside, and Bananas he has trouble avoiding on the outside, so you might just be waiting for that.) You can increase your Momentum by driving aggressively or, less likely, Powersliding.
