Yoshi Falls- Turn Six

1st      2nd      3rd      4th      5th     6th
Action Phase

Oomph banged the dash of his Kart a few times, turning a bright shade of red.

That wasn't working! Stupid broken Kart...

Action: Aggressive Driving, outside-go for an item box, after deploying my fake item box in sneaky, underhanded fashion!

Oomph swings outside, dropping his Fake Item Box to the devilment of those behind him, and drives aggressively! [3] Unfortunately, he is too concerned about placing the trap, gaining NO Momentum and a -1 Penalty to Hazard Checks!

Inside lane, Defensive Driving

Captain Falcon is flying high after escaping a potentially catastrophic situation!

"It takes more than one hit to take out Captain Falcon, soldier boy"

He Drives Defensively towards the inner Dash Panel, gaining a +1 bonus to avoid passes and a +1 bonus against attacks!

((Oh my, this is getting exciting for Bill))
"Don't like shells, Blue Boy?" Bill said, as he gripped the wheel with his knuckles white. His previous plan at taking first failed, Bill drafts the Blue Falcon, looking for a way in.

Bill Ryzer closely follows Captain Falcon inside, waiting for an opportunity! [3]+4vs[3]+5+1 The crafty Captain Falcon keeps him at bay, however!

Anyway aggresive driving, go for the item boxes.

[5] Mario is rapidly closing the distance on the leaders, heading outside for the item boxes with TWO Momentum and -1 Hazard!

Drive Aggressively along the outer path and aim for those Item Boxes!

I could ram that overweight Italian off the cliff, but I have better plans...

Not to be outdone, The Mysterious Mr. L tries to replicate Mario's tight line to the outside path, [3] but he simply cannot replicate the smooth moves of the mustachioed man! He takes a -1 Penalty to Hazard Checks for trying, though!

Counselor Grimtoad takes the shortcut under the bridge while using his mushroom, attempting to catch up.

Counselor Grimtoad puts all his concentration on catching up, taking the inside path and lining up the perfect dash across the shortcut! At the critical moment, he activates his Mushroom, skipping across the water with FOUR Momentum! The speed rush clears the ink and gives him the opportunity to Pull Ahead, [3] but he just can't execute!

1st      2nd      3rd      4th      5th     6th
Movement Phase

Oomph drops his Fake Item Box on the way to the real item boxes, and tries once more to pull away from the pack! [1] Unfortunately, his overly aggressive path puts him off his racing line, and he loses ONE Momentum instead!

Captain Falcon swerves to dodge the Fake Item Box, [3]-1+1 but is too close behind Oomph! He flips once more, losing TWO Momentum! As he slides down into the inside track, he hits the Dash Panel for ONE Momentum and is vaulted into the river, [5]+2+1 which he navigates with consummate ease!

Bill Ryzer hits the Dash Panel on the inside path, gaining ONE Momentum and flying across the the water! [3]+2 He has no trouble with the swift current, and suddenly finds himself in position to pass the beleaguered Captain Falcon! [2]+5vs[2]+4+1 Once again, however, the veteran racer holds him off by the slimmest of margins!

Mario takes the safe path outside, and finds that Bill is slightly too far ahead to pass!

The Mysterious Mr. L follows Mario outside, trailing behind!

Counselor Grimtoad is flying down the RED segment, and once again attempts to Pull Ahead! [4] HE SUCCEEDS, losing FOUR Momentum but catching up with the rest of the pack and taking the safe outer path through PURPLE!

Cleanup Phase

Oomph takes aim at one of the Item Boxes, [5]+2-1 easily taking the leftmost box. [3] He gains the Triple Banana, and begins dragging the peels behind his Kart!

Bill Ryzer slows to his cruising speed of FOUR Momentum!

Mario [4]+2-1 hits the rightmost Item Box with little difficulty, [4]+3+1 gaining a Red Shell!

MML [2]+2-1 just misses the last remaining Item Box as his aggressive line puts him too far away to recover!

Counselor Grimtoad [5]+2 takes the middle Item Box with glee, [5]+5 snagging a Blue Shell! Leaders beware!

Mario was thinking back of the old times. It was the same as all those times he had to rescue the world/Peach. He always started at the lowest point, having to run across the entire world, but he'd always come out on top.

Normal driving on the inside, fire the red shell

This is not going to end particullary good isn't it?

Also: To GM. Are bananas path specific, ie  do they only appear at one path.
If Yes, I assume that Metagaming is frowned upon, isn't it. Because I was doubting wherether to go Normal on the inside or Powerslide on the outsides and this would make the difference.
Nevertheless, choise made, so it'll stay where it is.

(How did I get it hit by that fake item box. I wasn't even in the same track as him :'( )

Between the hard shelled turtle and the war hero's attempts to knock the racer off the track, Captain Falcon began to wonder if the league would allow putting armor plating on his kart. However the hushed gasp of the crowd meant something big was going to happen, and he needed to get ready.

Inside track, Drive Defensively, go for that item box

Use blue shell, inside track, going for the item, driving defensively to avoid falling off.

Except draft to make up ground.

Nevertheless, choise made, so it'll stay where it is.

Rules As Written, they affect both paths- it is assumed that people follow one racing line that is the optimal path, and they swing to the different paths for just long enough to reap the benefits of doing so. However, the rules were written before I'd really conceptualized of different paths that aren't shortcuts as a real thing, so I think from this moment Items that are dropped only affect the path they are dropped on- dropping occurs in the Movement Phase.

Also, I don't really consider that Metagaming- if you're sitting down playing Mario Kart, you're always aware of your opponents items and their relative position, so you can maneuver to stay away from the red shell guy, and you don't directly follow the banana guy. In particular, it isn't a big deal in this turn-based adaptation because the order of actions is predetermined, so nobody is really getting surprised by these things.

Bill goes for the inner curve, trying to grab the item boxes.
 "I'll get you yet Falcon!

Driving Defensively, or...

Finally, I just got back from my sister's Graduation Party, which was an all day thing which also involved running around outside with young cousins. As a result, I'm bone-tired and the update will be delayed for a good 14 hours.

Yoshi Falls- Turn Seven

1st      2nd      3rd      4th      5th     6th
Action Phase

Action: Outside Corner, aggressive driving! Deploy teh banana peels!

Oomph blitzes to the outside path, [2] but fails to gain any appreciable ground! He takes a -1 Penalty to Hazard Checks!

Inside track, Drive Defensively, go for that item box

Captain Falcon decides to drive somewhere other than behind Oomph and his bananas, defensively sliding to the inside path with a +1 bonus on Pass Checks and a +1 bonus on Hazard Checks!

Bill aggresively goes for the inner curve, trying to grab the item boxes.
 "I'll get you yet Falcon!

Bill Ryzer cuts close to the cliff edge, pushing for every scrap of Momentum he can muster! He gains ONE Momentum and takes a -1 Penalty to Hazard Checks!

Mario was thinking back of the old times. It was the same as all those times he had to rescue the world/Peach. He always started at the lowest point, having to run across the entire world, but he'd always come out on top.

Normal driving on the inside, fire the red shell

Mario drives cautiously, keeping his eyes peeled for an opportunity to pass! He launches the Red Shell at Bill, [2]+3vs[3]-1 The shell catches Bill in the side, sending him flipping for a loss of TWO Momentum! The Contra Vet struggles to regain control of his Kart as he slides toward the cliff edge, [6]-1 and manages to get some traction and shoot toward the coursing river!

Drive defensively and get that Item Box already!

The Mysterious Mr. L follows Mario inside, driving defensively to get an Item Box!

Use blue shell, inside track, going for the item, driving defensively to avoid falling off.

Counselor Grimtoad briefly considers drafting to try and move up, but wisely decides his Momentum is too low for such a maneuver- instead, he Drives Defensively to stay on the happy side of the cliff edge and enhance his chances to gain a good item! And of course, he launches the Blue Shell, hoping the shake up the Leaderboard for the last half of the race! The Blue Shell will hit at the end of the Action Phase in Turn Eight.

1st      2nd      3rd      4th      5th     6th
Movement Phase

Oomph doesn't have the Momentum to Pull Ahead- instead, he places all three Bananas in the formerly safe Outer Path, hoping to impede the following racers!

Captain Falcon takes a clean entry to the water hazard, [5]+2+1 and fords the river with ease! He's got a great chance at the large cluster of Item Boxes floating downstream!

Bill Ryzer doesn't have the line he'd like after that Red Shell, [1]+2-1 and as he struggles through the deeper part of the river he strikes a submerged rock! His Kart gives a horrible crunch, and he helplessly plummets over the waterfall, Falling Back!

This is the opportunity Mario was waiting for! [4]+2 He hits the water fast as he comes up behind Captain Falcon, and attempts a pass! [4]+5vs[4]+4+1 However, the veteran racer is able to cut off Mario's narrow passing lane, and Mario is forced to hang back lest he fall into deeper water and suffer Bill's fate! Mario and Captain Falcon are practically bumper to bumper!

[6]+2+1 The Mysterious Mr. L has absolutely no problem navigating the swift current, and sets his sights on one of the plentiful Item Boxes!

Counselor Grimtoad [1]+2+1 suffers a terrifying moment of deja vu as his light Kart loses traction in the turbulent water, but his conservative racing line lets him skip across the surface of the water, his Momentum carrying him through!

Cleanup Phase

Captain Falcon aims for one of the Item Boxes, [2]+3+1 and catches one even as he blocks Mario off! [2]+1 He gets the Triple Banana, and begins dragging them behind his Kart!

Mario tries for one of the Item Boxes, [2]+3 and hits one of the floating goodies, [3]+2+1 and picks up a Bob-omb, dragging the explosive behind his Kart!

The Mysterious Mr. L lines up on one of the Item Boxes, [1]+3+1 and can't help but run through one! [4]+3 He picks up a Mushroom just in time for the shortcut in RED- assuming he survives his opponent's items, that is!

Counselor Grimtoad's unorthodox river navigation flings him into the midst of the Item Boxes, [5]+3+1 and has absolutely no problem getting one, [5]+4 picking up a Triple Green Shell! The deadly trio begins defensively circling his Kart!

Bill Ryzer is saved by the helpful folks at Lakitu Towing, and is dragged back to the beginning of BLUE! He darts forward with TWO Momentum, hoping to make up lost ground quickly! There's only two laps left!

Counselor Grimtoad: Powerslide on the inside track, and shoot Green Shells at other inhabitants of the inside track, especially the Mysterious Mr. L.
((Why does Bill Ryzer have 5 momentum? He just fell off the course, and got a two momentum boost, so shouldn't he have 2 momentum?))
