(Can waitlisted players effect the race at all?  Also Spinal_Taper, I just realized your avatar is Rorschach.)
Not directly, no. Feel free to make a spectacle of yourself anyway, I may or may not riff off of it.
(Oh, I see.  Guess that was what confused me.)

So help me, if that bob-omb hits me and makes me lose this lead I only just gained...

Power slide through the inner curve, deploy the blooper and grab another item box!

Aggressive driving again!  Take the outside loop for the dash panel!  Don't hit the chomp this time!

Dammit, Why did no-one suggest this as an industry before?! (Note, I'm not signing up as the CEO of it.)

note- my regular game of DnD is going into extra innings tonight, so the update will come ~14 hours from now (i.e when I wake up tomorrow morning.) Who knows, we might even have a post from Yoink by then!

Oh, er, right! Same action as before, really:

"You can't get away from me that easily... Firing missiles!"
>Launch bob-omb at those ahead of me, drive defensively to keep that damned Kirby from overtaking!
Take the inner path, attempting to dodge flying shrapnel, chain-chomps and flames!

Last turn we were. Now we're heading into purple, by the chain chomp.

The CEO peered down at the track once more. "There's a lot of spirit in these drivers, isn't there?"

A freakishly skinny butler nods and half bows, "Indeed sir, there is."

"Schedule a meeting with that Luigi fellow, would you? I get the feeling that he might be one of the best candidates." The CEO paused for a moment. "While you're at it you may as well schedule a meeting with his brother Mario. It couldn't hurt to have a united front in the face of our opponents, and what better way to do that than to have a pair of brothers racing together for you?"

Luigi Circuit- Turn Seven
1st      2nd      3rd      4th      5th     6th
Player Action

Anyway, Luigi power slides through the outer curve, hitting the dash panels once more.

Luigi Power Slides toward the outer curve, [4]+1 gaining a +1 bonus on Pass Checks!

Aggressive driving again!  Take the outside loop for the dash panel!  Don't hit the chomp this time!

Crank drives aggressively, [2] but his wheel sticks, and he loses ONE Momentum! He heads for the Dash Panels to make up the Momentum!

Fox McCloud begins Driving Defensively, gaining a +1 bonus to Pass Checks and avoiding attacks! As he cuts toward the inner path, he flings his Bob-omb forward at Luigi! [4]vs[4] The Bob-omb bounces once and detonates near Luigi, but he barely escapes the blazing inferno! Crank [4] swerves away from the blast radius, and Fox himself [3]+1 evades the explosion with his skilled piloting driving!

Powerslide the inside.

Kirby Powerslides toward the inside of the track, [2]+1 but once again his engines sputter! His small pink fury is terrible to behold!

Power slide through the inner curve, deploy the blooper and grab another item box!

King Harkinian enters a Power Slide, [6]+1 and bursts toward the inner path with TWO Momentum, +1 on Pass Checks, and an immediate opportunity to Pass Kirby! [4]+6+1vs[3]+4 He pulls past the impotent Kirby with ease, losing ONE Momentum and coming up fast behind Fox! [3]+5+1vs[5]+4+1 He can't get past the wily Fox McCloud, however! Sticking his head out the window, he looks back to Kirby and displays the lightning wit that all Hyrulian Kings are famous for!

"Suck ink, Stay-Puft!"

King Harkinian unleashes the BLOOPER, a magic flying squid which flies up and down the track, spraying ink on all racers and several bystanders! Released from its prison, the blooper flies off to happier pastures, but the damage is done- all other racers take -1 to Racing and Pass Checks until the end of next turn, or they hit a Dash Panel or use a Mushroom, Boo, or Star!

Draft!

Link sticks close behind Kirby, looking for an opportunity to pass- when his engines fail to ignite a power slide, Link takes advantage and moves to pass! [5]+5-1vs[2]+4-1 He wriggles past, losing ONE Momentum and taking Fifth!

1st      2nd      3rd      4th      5th     6th
Movement Phase

Luigi comes up on the Chain Chomp, [4]+2 and effortlessly skirts around it on his way to the outer curve. Luigi hits the Dash Panels, gaining ONE Momentum as the jolt of acceleration causes the Blooper ink to wash off his windshield! He attempts to pull ahead, [4]-1 and FAILS by the slimmest of margins!

Crank approaches the Chain Chomp, [6]+2 and flashily whistles past the edge of the Chain Chomp's reach! He follows Luigi to the outer curve and its Dash Panels, gaining ONE Momentum and clearing his windshield of the Blooper ink! He lacks the Momentum to pass Luigi!

Fox McCloud [4]+2+1 handily evades the Chain Chomp on his way to the Item Boxes! Because he is driving Defensively, he does not attempt to Pass!

King Harkinian [1]+2 is too busy mocking his opposition, and does not swerve away from the Chain Chomp until it is too late! Chompy sends him flipping, losing TWO Momentum! The King putters on toward the Item Boxes!

Link [4]+2 avoids the Chain Chomp with little effort, and homes in on King Harkinian! [1]+4-1vs[4]+3+1 Unfortunately, he can't get around the stubborn King, and follows him toward the Item Boxes!

Kirby lacks the Momentum to pass Link as he follows him inside!

Cleanup Phase

Luigi can't maintain his breakneck pace, and slows to his cruising speed of FIVE Momentum!

Fox McCloud [2]+1 fails to nab an item box!

King Harkinian [1]+1 fails even harder at nabbing an item box!

Link [5]+1 nails his item box, [4]+4 and acquires a Boo!

Assuming you don't make a new Branch of Silph Co for Mario to represent (although if you do, may I recommend the Tiksi Branch?) I'm going to rule that having 2 drivers for 1 slot means you gain the benefit of their average Fame, and they're treated as one person for the purposes of Image (so that'll stack.) Negotiations won't be finalized until the RP segment following this Race- I'll go into more detail then.
