That turn was awesome. Four different leaders in the same turn, not to mention my fun little charge up the ranks. :D

Since I'm in first place, does that mean a successful power slide would give me a chance to pull ahead immediately?

Regardless, Luigi starts the second lap with a power slide.

Oomph watched the Karts go by, eating a foot long Spoinkdog messily.

"This Race boring-Oomph think Karts go to slow!" He said, belching rudely.

It's a highly dynamic race, given that I did everything I wanted to on my turn and still dropped a spot.

Drive aggressively!  Catch up to those place-stealers!

I think it's pretty true to the games. In Mario Kart the video games, who's in which place is always changing. Dropping only 1 spot is pretty good, I'd say.

That hadn't gone quite according to plan.
"Argh! The flak's thick up here! Taking evasive action!"
Fox shouted and pushed the engines to theirits limit as he took evasive action... Which basically just means stomping down on the pedal and driving really recklessly, with Luigi in his sights.

Firstly- RULES CHANGE

Now that we've got a lap of playtesting underway, I think I am going to change the rules so that using an Item does not use an action- so, you can powerslide and fire a shell, or mushroom aggressively, etc. This will be effective for all future races.

Since it's kinda dick to change the rules mid-race, especially after some racers have already had to deal with it, I'll leave it up to a vote. Gatleos, Scelly9, Nicholas1024, Toaster, Yoink, ExKirby- do you want the rule change immediately, or status quo?

Monk:  Considering after the first three winners get into the Star Cup race, the next three slots are highest two Points and then highest Fame, wouldn't that mean that the Star Cup race will just be all the first and second place finishers?
In the first season yes. After that probably not.

Basically, yeah- I'll clarify that Points/Fame leaders are calculated after auto-qualifiers, but yeah, barring any extensive Sponsor activities this first Cup will be 1st/2nd from the three races.

So here's an idea for Rainbow Road in 6 Segments:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I do like this, and will use it. The only thing I will probably alter is the Green segment- Momentum isn't supposed to be indicative of an absolute Speed, more like an aggregate of speed, position, racing line, etc.

Waluigi wonders if the bombs have exploded yet.

[1] tick tick tick fizzzzzzzz ((yes I'm actually rolling these))

Spoiler: Sponsor Actions (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Events (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Image (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Sponsor Industries (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Player CEOs (click to show/hide)

There! The above is required reading for anybody who wants to be a CEO- Drivers can get the tl;dr "bad PR means you don't get paid," although being aware of how the metagame works is certainly not a bad thing. I'm in a bit of a rush out the door, so I'll be converting existing Sponsors over to the new system tonight after the Racing turn. If there's any confusion (and it's a bit more involved than I had envisioned, so there probably will be) don't hesitate to ask!

That's actually a good thing since I Waluigi threw them out of the window. A real [1] would have them blow up with enough force to obliterate WaluigiWare Inc.
