Something is whispered in Crank's ear.  He looks, thinks for a second, then waggles his very bushy eyebrows.

"Someone send down a bottle to that Fox fellow.  Sounds like he needs it more than we do."

Wait, where are the Sponsor/driver relationship links to click?

Anyway, my vote's still on King Harkinian.

Whups- they, er, weren't there, nor were the recent changes reflected. Everything should be up to date now- Link is the only one with a contract to link to, your history is just an abbr.

Alright, toss a coin at kirby mistaking him for one of those modern art water fountains, and give a coin to fox, mistaking him for one of the many homeless vets scattered around this once great kingdom. Only if they want to take it though. Also votes still Harkinian, just look how shiny his face made those floors! You can see his face in them.

Dirg -2 Coin
Kirby +1 Coin
Fox +1 Coin

Good on ya!

Whee Popularity contests! Voting still open.

King Harkinian- 2 votes
Fox McCloud- 2 votes

Harkinian's rage was a sight to behold, and he left almost immediately after the race, stealing a whole bottle of champagne as he stormed off the premises. A whirlwind of booze, cheap mushroom-headed prostitutes and random violence filled the rest of Harkinian's night in the Mushroom Kingdom capitol, and he all but disappeared for a time.

But it would not be the last they saw of King Harkinian, oh no. He was biding his time, that was all.

((If voting is still open Fox))
Bill offered a hand up to the struggling veteran. "You have the money to get back up on your feet, use it."

((Voting for fox. Not giving him money though.))

Zelda was in the grandstands during the race, watching the progress of all the racers. She was DAMN glad to see the so-called king get taken down a notch, by two of her colleages no less.

She facepalmed when he left, stealing a bottle of champaign. That coup was CERTAINLY worth the effort is had, considering she had to deal with Ganon for it to happen.

Bill saw Fox outside of the stadium, begging for money. He approached him, and said "Fox. You're a veteran. You've been through worse, and so have I."
Fox was leaning down towards a young, scared-looking toad, one grubby paw thrust out as he made a grotesque attempt at a harmless grin, when Bill approached him.
Fox whirled around in surprise, feeling deeply humiliated that an old friend would see him this way, and masked his shame with an angry snarl.
"What?! What?! You think you know what I've been through? What I've seen? You don't know shit!" He paused to catch a coin that someone tossed at him, hiding it away safely in his underwear before continuing his rant, eyes wild with that special kind of crazy homeless war vets seem to have in spades.
"Yeah, that's right, I cursed! You think I care about ratings? Who the hell wants to play a game about s-some washed-up ex-pilot like me, anyway? I'm getting mange in my nether regions, for heck's sake! Are you ashamed of me, then? You want to show everyone how 'tough' veterans are? Well, Bill, why don't you join the Cup, then? Me, I'm going to go wallow in self-pity. And drunkeness. Ehh, mostly drunkeness."

He staggered over to jump back into his kart, the weary suspension giving an alarming creak even under its owner's stick-thin frame. He quickly put it into gear before stomping the accelerator, peeling rubber and heading in the direction of the nearest cheap liquor store.

>Speed off to the (preferably drive-through) liquor store! Looks like that Fire Flower Whiskey is within reach, after all!

Kirby gives Dry Bones a big hug. He then goes and walks around.

As Fox sped off in his beaten down cart, Bill noticed the crowd that had circled them, and he could feel their gawking eyes and stunned words boring a hole through all the practiced emotions and all the masks. "Who were the two old guys?" He heard them say. He opened his mouth to say something in retort, but nothing came out. "Damn it, Lance would say something." he thought, but he knew that wasn't true, Lance hadn't said anything for a long time. He took off at a run, presumably to his kart, but in reality, no where but away.

((Damn Yoink, I can't beat that, that was great))

Hey Monk, question about funds. Are the sponsor funds reset to their max level between races? If not, are there any ways to regenerate coin for the sponsors?

Sponsors gain Coin equal to their Prestige after every race, which is equal to 1 + Fame of their driver(s), plus gain from other events (sponsoring races, etc).

Another question: Can compensator modules switch what they are compensating for midgame or between races? If yes, is there an actual point in repairing things?

Crank pours a glass of champagne out for Luigi.

"Great race, there!  Have a drink and let's celebrate!  Looking forward to racing you in the Star Cup!"

Taking the offered glass, Luigi sips it, replying

Heh, you raced brilliantly as well. I won't deny I'm rather looking forwards to our rematch.

Well, if you start accumulating hiccups, you probably should get rid of them before they become a nasty cumulative mess.
