You may have my backing yet if this works. Thanks for pointing it out.

EDIT: Seems most of the options you pointed out do not account for a person living in the USA. Ukash is not an option, a virtual visa card is not an option(From that link anyway)...

Makes me wonder why Europe has so many ways of handling this that we don't over here...

You know, when I first read the title I was thinking...

Oh here is some XBox player complaining about a Void in games for the Kinetic. Generously please that this wasn't that case. Gonna be looking into that Shipbuilder Demo soonish...

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

i wonder if carriers will be possible, or a own fleet in general... (reading the kickstarter page again seems carriers are possible)

like:
-you start as trader
-upgrade your ship with more cargo bays
-explore some unknown planets and mine some minerals (a la "prospector rougelike")
-find a unknown faction x on a planet
-help faction x with selling the mined minerals
-do some tradeing jobs for faction x
-do some colonizeing jobs for faction x
-so some trading missions for the military of faction x
-upgrade shields and add more weapons to the ship, because of pirates
-do more dangerous troop transport missions to capture a pirate moonbase for faction x
-replace a cargobay with a hanger module and design some small fighters you will use as escort...
-maybe end up replaceing most cargo modules with hangar bays and fly around a carrier for the military of faction x for a while and help in all the battles they have with another faction with fighter/bomber support
-maybe design/buy some destroyers later to make a own fleet and capture a planet for yourself and design/build a starbase/empire from there


wonder if people like "totalbiscuit" should make a "kickstarter wtf is kinetic void" to get more public attention to this game, as the idea of designing ships and the randomly generated universe is quite interesting...

There will be launch bays as modules / sub-systems, the first tier will be for drones. These will operate under a simple 'orders' system where you will select, say 'guard me' etc. later on in the game there will be Fighter Bays, which will house fighter craft, and will require pilots on your crew to pilot them, these will also have a similar orders system.

The way you laid out your game-progression is essentially what we are going for. We are using a very agile design philosophy where in nothing is set in stone, and we will and have changed things because a new idea was better.

as for managing fleets, we would like to really, but it will not happen in our initial release, we are only 3 people and I will not allow us to promise something we cannot deliver and over extend ourselves.

Well this looks interesting, like a cross between Kerbal Space Program and Starfarer, all wrapped up in a Homeworld art style.

I didn't really get a sense from the videos or kickstarter description how you imagine the game to play. Will combat be dynamic with movement and facing being important factors or will it be EVE-style lock and fire? How will trade comodities be generated, on planets and space stations? Will there be stellar and interstellar markets functioning independantly of the player? How will diplomacy function and what kind of factions do you intend to have, roaming pirates, trade alliances, empires, space corporations?
