No one really got close on the nature of the game. Give ya a hint. Ever seen highlander or Afro Samurai?
((The things I wish piecewise would GM are so far from the things he wants to GM
If you're wondering what I wish you would GM:
Min/Maxing your Child! The Munchkins Guide to Parenting!
Its a game about pushing your child(ren) into things they probably don't want to do in order to prepare them for an unrealistically competitive job market when they're older, and a all too real possibility of being kidnapped/molested in the meantime, all while trying not to emotionally break them so hard they commit suicide. FUN!))
Is this a thing already or something you want me to make?
Now thats what I call a fan art opportunity.
((OH DEAR.))
Escort the civilians homeward. Resist urge to preach to them.
((I also just got Dark Souls. So far I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to be doing after the tutorial level besides get my ass kicked.))
1. If you see skeletons, run the other way. Same with ghosts. Your path is up some stairs in a cliff wall. If you find a guy hurling Molotov cocktails at you, you're going the right way.
2.Talk to the guy by the firelink bonfire. He gives you an idea what to do (Hint, it involves ringing a bell.)
3. Upgrading weapons and armor is more important then leveling. There are better and worse armors and weapons, but as long as you upgrade it, anything is fine. Pick what you're comfortable with. The guy you're looking for to level you up looks like zeus and you'll hear him hammering a way at the bottom of a tower, under a bonfire. It will probably be a little while till you find him.
4.Endurance is your friend. Endurance lets you have more stamina, lets you roll quicker, lets you shield better, it's a great stat. Resistance is shit. Never put a point into it.
5.Get a shield. Look at the stability. Higher stability is better. Hold that motherfucker up at all times. Move slow, keep an eye out, listen, plan, try to draw things into one on one fights and push every advantage you can get. Do that, and you'll be fine.
6. Don't get the drake sword. That thing breeds bad habits and leave you without a good, upgraded weapon later, when you need it. It's a crutch, and if you don't learn your lessons here, when there's relatively little consequence to death, then you're gonna learn them later, when the consequences are much worse.
I've played this game a lot. Yeah.
((Wellll, it doesn't run so well on my lappy, so everything is in slow motion, and I only got to firelink shrine before heading to sleep, but other than that and my lack of skills, pretty damn good. It'd be better if it ran better, but eh, I can deal until I can get the cash to get a better comp built. Although as soon as I do, my timing will be thrown off because I'm not in bullet time anymore.))
I think a program called DSfix is supposed to solve a lot of problems and will probably make it run better. The pc port was supposed to be pretty bad in some ways.
Thanks, I'll have to look that up.
((Also look up Epic Name Bro's item guides on youtube, they are useful, especially for new players that don't know what is out there, and with Gywnevere originally Miyazaki (director) did not intend for the current uh "proportions" but the designer was really really happy with it.))
EDIT((PC Blight-town will be sooooooooooo !!FUN!!))
I'm just gonna recommend GeopLP's Lets play of it. It's extremely extensive, fun and relaxing. Geop is a Geology Professor and he is just an over all calm, well mannered guy. I really like him.
Small update on that game I told you about. World map is done. Working on site maps.
No one really got close on the nature of the game. Give ya a hint. Ever seen highlander or Afro Samurai?
((So, It has something to do with glowing, and killing others to become stronger yourself. So, everyone has a certain amount of power/magic/X and you need to kill other to aqcuire more X, so you can become the X'iest. Getting more X also makes you glow for some reason.
alternatively. Every player has a small lightbulb manufacturing business, the goal of the game is to destroy your competation and absorb their share of the market, finally becoming the sole manufacturer for all lightbulbs in the world.))
I'll just come out and say it:
Basics are as follows:
In this world there is a sort of living legend about The Glowing King and The Nine Dukes of the Wastes. There are 10 people out there in the world with numbers inscribed on their forehead and back of their hand. 10-2 are the dukes, 1 is the Glowing King. However, everytime one of them dies, a new person will wake up one day to find themselves marked with the lowest number, while the rest will move up a spot to fill the gap. The legend says that, out there in the world somewhere, is the throne of the Glowing King, And that if the current glowing king could find it, it would accept him and grant him the power to rule over the world.
There's also the rather practical fact that, if you survive and kill enough to make it to the top then, well, you're probably gonna be a big bad, mutated wasteland legend.
Gameplay wise, it comes down to this:
There are 10 people playing; each filling one slot.
The only way to level up is to kill someone in a slot above you and take their spot.
Of course you then after to factor in:
1. You're probably gonna need money on this quest, assuming your target(s) have legged it into the wastes and you need food, water and bullets. So you're gonna have to do some jobs or scav some ruins or rob someone or something.
2.As you do that, your fame rises and people are gonna start talking about you. That means that other players are gonna be able to find you easier because they're gonna be able to get more info from NPCs about your location. Potentially dangerous.
3.There's a big world for you to wander around in and for targets to hide in, full of fun places to go and fun things to get that will give you an edge in the inevitable showdown at high noon.
Basically basically, It's a giant game of lethal hide and seek in the post apocalypse. It's late and I'm rambling only semi-coherently...
SPEAKING OF WHICH
I made a little boardgame for ER. If some people on the ship are bored, you could volunteer to try a game of it. The rules and stuff are here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/kan8d0oa4ouxgmj/zobKRjqEAyIt's not in the rules but it's the first three rows on either side that are where you can deploy your ships.
