The pill machine seems to work off of a symbolic alchemy system judging by the fact that the spoon pill turned Xan into a living spoon instead of just making him stainless steel.

If this is truly the case then a battery or capacitor should give you the ability to store and release electrical energy, chemical batteries may even give you acid blood

As for the arms... bullets basically use blunt force trauma to inflict damage, so basically it turned your arms into clubs because they are a blunt weapon just like a bullet is... maybe..))
