You head to the rec room, take a seat next to the man watching tv and begin chugging one beer after another. Sadly, its not potent enough to get you anything but buzzed.

Then read on that second kind of AIs.

The second AI seems rather odd. It doesn't rely on preprogrammed responses, rather it samples data around it, combines this information with it's physical capacities and runs evolutionary algorithms until it discovers the "best" way to accomplish a task. It's very processor heavy and slower then other methods, but allows for greater flexibility. It does, however, lead to what the book describes as "instances of actions, reactions or inaction that are baffling to humans, including self termination."

Hand back book to AM. Then go back to rec room and examine katana.

You return the book and walk to the rec room before stopping to examine your sword. It's a simple thing, three foot long, slight curve, tanto tip. Everything on it is made of a marbled alloy of unknown metals. It's edge is fairly sharp but nothing special.

You finish the book. You don't think it will help with anything complex, but a simple AI is probably within your grasp.
