Xcom ER journal: I confess my undying love for Faith, angel of death.
Another abduction comes before I can finish work on the Archangel flight armor, but whatever, we'll deal with this and then start flying. Bishop and Scrambles coming with us as well as the normal 4.
Nigeria this time, at what looks like an office building or school. At least it's just a bug hunt; murder is easy, it's the other things that make life hard.
Oh god.
Ok so a cyberdisk came out. And then 2 berzerkers. And then 4 mutons. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK
Everyone open fucking fire! It was an ambush!
Faith puts down a muton and the cyber disk- god damn I love her right now- Milno injures one muton and jim kills the injured one with a shredder rocket while also debuffing the berzerker, who can apperently charge a few more spaces everytime he gets hit. Scrambles throws a grenade and injures the Berzerker, bishop shoots it once before panicking and shooting another muton. Good job bishop, even crazy you keep the mission in mind. At this point the berzerker is AT our cover and it turns out feyri is our last man. And she has a 100% hit shot with her uber shotgun.
The fucker gets thrown 15 feet back. Hell yeah.
We're out of immediate danger but that last muton is retreating and we catch a glimpse of the berzker charging through the building. No time to let these fuckers regroup. Jim puts a rocket into the building blind, guessing where the two bastards are, and hits them both. The muton goes down but now the berzerker is charging.
He's strong but not strong enough to survive the combined fire of us all. I only wish bishop wasn't freaking out so that I could have him bring the thing down. Milno does the honors this time. We spend the next turn reloading as something smashes glass in the building.
Before we know it 3 new floaters are on top of us: heavy floaters with thick armor. They get a little cutscene about how they're badasses. And then Faith kills one with over watch and proceeds to kill the other two at close range in a single turn. Faith is king badass.
Bishop appears to either aspire to be equally as awesome as Faith or perhaps has become enamored with her, because he becomes a sniper as well. I load him out in Carapace armor and give him a laser sniper rifle. Hopefully he'll live long enough to become another faith.
We wait for a few weaks before another mission drops and we're off to South africa to murder some more X-rays in some sort of industrial park. We meet a cyber disk almost right away and I'm determined to get it stunned and bring it home with us if we can. It vanishes up into the upper levels of a nearby building after milno takes down one of it's drones with his new plasma rifle.
And then the shit starts to fly: Three heavy floaters, a muton and a berzerker all pouring out of nowhere. Milno brings down a floater and the second one doesn't fire during it's turn but the third splashes Scrambles bad. The muton and the berzerker are still running around somewhere in the distance so Faith takes out both remaining floaters and I move to focus on defense as scrambles runs for cover. Milno brings down the Muton but the Berserker runs into the fray. I have my team wittle down it's health and let Bishop finish it. Gotta get this boy promoted.
The next turn is reloading.
Now we just have to find any more assholes on the ground here and then get that cyber disk. I send feyri up to get the disk only for it to come meandering down to meet us next turn. Damn it. Faith Hurts it bad, now it's just up to feyri to bring it down. It's a rather suicidal risk, but we've gotta do it. Unfortunately, charging after it brings the wrath of a berzerker and another muton. Faith uses double tap to bring down the muton and Feyri's cannon tears a massive hole in the Berzerker but it's still moving towards her. Have to bring it down and fast. She can take a hit from a Cyber disk but I'm not sure about that berzerker. Scrambles hurts him but he's still going. He's charging jim now. Bishop has a perfect shot but only 55% to hit. Fuck. Come on bishop, don't fuck this up. He hits but it doesn't bring the fucker down and he panicks as a result. He fires again in his panic but doesn't hit.
Feyri takes a faceful of cyberdisk plasma but runs up and...wait what? You can't stun these? Fuck. The scientist lady said we could get a "live" one! Fuck. Well, feyri runs back and I let scrambles take the crippled machine down.
Scrambles hits Major and Bishop hits corporal.
We splash a small ufo up near the USA, canadian border and now all we have to do is go get us the goodies from inside. I like these missions, they give us lots of alien goodies. We're in a swamp this time. I feel bad for the guys not in Titan armor; enjoy the leeches bishop.
We keep hearing them as we move up and I'm taking it slow, everyone overwatching as we go. We find some heavy floaters and a cyber disk and Faith brings the cyber disk down. Milno brings down one of the floaters and faith brings down the second after it leaps across the entire fucking field. We run forward, find the Outsider I knew would be there and promptly kill him. I'm begining to think that sometime I should just let them shoot me to see what happens.
Bishop hits sergeant and becomes "Enigma".
Terror mission in Novograd and we're rolling with the a team four plus may and renen, another heavy. We're rolling in hard and heavy this time, we can't afford to waste time.
Two heavy floaters drop out of nowhere, followed by three more. We take a grenade but manage to bring them all down over the course of 3 turns. Durning this we catch a glimpse of Cryslids scrambling around. Faith takes out one from a mile away and then another from just as far. Feyri brings down a zombie before the turn ends but we lose another civie to the last floater before jim guns it down. We've moved maybe a dozen feet from the LZ.
When we get back I throw a ton of money into a few suits of titan armor and a Archangle suit for Faith.
It's a thing of beauty to see 6 soldiers rolling out in titan level armor or better, all but one with plasma or better weapons. There's not a damn thing on earth or the stars that can take us without a fight now.
So India now, stopping another abduction raid. A cyberdisk and it's peons come waddling in beside us, flanking us, but we manage to bring them down before they can fire and then keep moving forward. The AO is a square and we started in a corner so there's not much we can do but keep all sides covered as we move diagonally.
We're on some sort of road with what I think is a bridge over us, though it's hard to see in the dark. Another cyberdisk appears out of goddamn nowhere but gets wiped out by overwatch fire. It's drones Fare no better. And then the Heavy Mutons come, mutons in Berzerker armor. We manage to take out two of them, mostly thanks to Faith, but one survives long enough to hit an already injured may. We bring him down the next turn. But may is out for 5 days.
Find the filthiest object or person in my vicinity. Dust it, then use my other cleaning supplies (picked up earlier) to make it really SHINE!
"I am feeling this! I am mighty! I am powerful! I am the force of cleansing that shall purify this den of iniquity!"
You find May in the Infirmary.
"DIRTY DIRTY GIRL!" You scream while wacking her in the head with the duster.
"~I want puppiesssssssssss~. Do you have any, Doctor-san?"
Inquire.
"Puppies are boring. I can make better." The doctor says.
"Oh, two tokens." Feyri said, considering the idea. This meant all her available funds, and if so, she wouldn't be able to shift her equipment per next mission demand - flexibility and practicality.
She slowly nodded to herself as she agreed to both the scope and the manual, proceeding to find a quiet place {like her personal bunk} for reading and testing. With reading taking priority..
"Thank you ma'am."
You buy yourself the scope and the book before heading back to the barracks and sitting down to read. You flip through book. It has large sections about how to use various medieval weapons like lances, pikes, spears, bows, crossbows, arming swords, shields, great shields, tower shields, maces, mauls, cudgels, dirks, and the like.
"Huh? Must be the heat sink the Doc was talking about. Wonder how fragile it is? And that is a question for the Doc, or the VR."
When Doctor arrives, ask how fragile the heat sink is. Then procceed with the next phase.
You rock back and forth on your heels, waiting for the doctor. Hmm, you hope he's not talking to some crazy woman about something terrible.
"A litre bottle of vodka thanks. Some rum and whatever stuff you've got with some caffiene in it too if you could. I've got myself a shitload of thinking to do. "
Wander off to the science area. Give science personel the wires I collected from the Rec room.
"I got these just after Jim flash-froze them. Don't know if they're normal or not. Maybe whatever made them all freaky-killy got frozen in them and you guys can figure out what the fuck happened."
Examine the laser rifle while wandering back to the barracks.
Ask anyone in the vicinity "What do all the dials and stuff do on these rifles?"
Take a swig of vodka from the bottle.

You drop off the wires at the research lab and then head to the barracks. You sit down and look at the laser rifle. It's a box with a rifle butt and some dials on the side. You take a drink.

"Ah. I suppose I should have expected that.
But I mean, what would happen to the severed arm? Would it just die, or mutate into a different arm, or try to regrow organs, or what?

Faith paused a moment.
"Just how much did you learn about that living sand we brought you?"
Ivan's Arm and Living Sand.
"Nah, it would just die. It's mutated but it still needs blood and stuff. Least as far as I know."
"As per that sand, we're still working on it. It's definitely alive and it eats any sort of energy we put into it. We're still trying to find a good way to harness it reliably."

You take the dropper out of the bottle and put two droplets on your tongue. Hmm tastes a little bit spicy. You smack your lips. Hmm.
Thomas will take either. He simply wants something he can use to write down his thoughts.
You get yourself a datapad.
Milno stared at the armory master...She had a good deal of knowledge, and so what he couldn't research in the VR at the moment, he supposed he could ask her instead.
"I checked the price for a downsized cloak made from the same materials as an Avatar's. Since the fabric seems easy to work with, do you think it would be possible to get a bodyglove made from the same stuff?" he asked, expecting a probable explanation on why it wouldn't be feasible.
Ask.
"I don't see why not. Though it may act a bit weird since it hardens when exposed to force, so if you go running down stairs it might lock up around your ankles or something. "
Jim attempted to recover his balance and went on the defensive, focusing only on blocking for the moment.
Floki bared his teeth in a small grin, aiming to give the big robot a quick thwap with the side of his blade while he was off-balance.

Jim manages to slap away Scrambles' blow with an awkward counter and regain a bit of his footing but Scrambles still has the upper hand.
